Nicely detailed histories of Oxford and Cambridge. A glossary and lists of famous gradutes broken down by universities and then by colleges. Beautiful colour photos. Enjoyable and full of historical tidbits.

Read both parts. Comical at times, gruesomely detailed always, with a seriously anticlimactic ending.

Actually I've only read the Cambridge section of this book... and that in the German original. However, since the Goodreads database apparently doesn't know about that book, I'll use this one as a placeholder.
If you are interested in Cambridge, and since our daughter has just started there we are, then you should read this book. It is engagingly written, packed with interesting information and anecdotes, and left me with the feeling that I had been taken on a slightly idiosyncratic but charming walking tour of the university and the town.
It also left me with a distinct feeling of regret that I did not choose to study at Cambridge... but that is another story.
