Main characters: Kyron or Ky and Dannella or Dani, Princess of the Blood
Type of Kindred bonding: Touch Kindred

Kyron has been sent to an expedition far away from the mother ship in order to find and explore the old Hive’s base. Instead of this, he becomes a prisoner in a small planet full of really short inhabitants, Goshan Prime, who think that Kyron is a dangerous giant. So, Kyron is chained, isolated, beaten, starved to death and constantly thirsty; while he waits the king of the planet to come and visit him in order to explain to him that he comes in peace.
Kyron is a touch Kindred, which means that with the power of his mind could really hurt his prisoners and kill them with painful deaths. But he doesn’t. Because he took an oath that he will use his special powers only when he needs to please his woman.

[Note: If you want to learn more about the Touch Kindred, you can read Exiled (Brides of the Kindred #7)]

Dannella is the eldest daughter of the King/Monarch Yorva of Gosham Prime (May he live forever hahaha). She is really pretty, but extremely tall for a woman in a planet full of short males and females. She is five foot four which is as tall as a tall male in her planet.
Dannella is also a rebel. She likes to tell her opinion and she behaves almost like a male in a planet that females are supposed to be docile and agreeable to anything the males want.
Pretty soon, Dannella, through a secret passage behind the mirrored panels of the palace, will discover Kyron and she will really like him and look after him. She will feed him and give him water and look after his injuries.

Two arranged unwanted marriages for both the daughters of Monarch Yorva will force Kyron to escape taking Dannella with him. But their story will not stop there. Luckily, Merrick (the scary half-breed Kindred) will help the two lovers-to-be.

[Note: If you want to learn more about Merrick and his mate Elise, you can read Pursued (Brides of the Kindred #6)]

Awesome adventure. If you enjoy Brides of Kindred, undoubtedly you will enjoy this book too :)

If you've read any of the Kindred series then this book which is set in the same world will surely tickle your fancy. Although it's not directly linked with the current story line about the insect like Hive it still actually works quite well as a story that stands alone . It introduces new characters whilst also giving readers a glimpse of old favourites so a win win situation.
I love that there are so many different types of Kindred and this time our hero is Kyron, a Touch Kindred. He has the ability to use his mind and project the touch of his fingers and lips but has vowed never to use his gift to harm only to bring pleasure when he eventually finds his Mate. Getting taken prisoner by little blue men wasn't exactly his plan but when he lands on planet Goshan Prime that's exactly what happens. It's a society that completely subjugates females but one plucky young woman doesn't see why she shouldn't be allowed to use her mind. The female in question is the Monarchs daughter Princess Dannella and her curiosity leads her to investigate the giant , deadly prisoner . What she finds is a male suffering and he tells her about life where men see women as equals. Dani is torn between loyalty to her father and their way of life and the possibilities that Kyron speaks of but things start to escalate . Pretty soon Dani realises that perhaps trusting Kyron is her only chance for freedom!
Kyron is the sweetest, kindest , most affectionate and loving male lead that I've read from this author. It's impossible not to like him and he's truly like a knight in shining armour when it comes to protecting Dani. If I had to pick one thing I didn't like about him it would be his constant use of the words 'little girl ' but I guess compared to him Dani was diminutive in stature.
Dani has been a little spoiled and has clearly got away with things that are not normal for females in her society. Unfortunately though what a child might get away with as a grown up it's getting Dani into a tricky situation but I had to admire her pluck and her strong will. Plus you do not want to get on her bad side because this Princess tells it like it is !
Yes it's an erotic romance but I didn't feel it was overkill. No icky stuff although there is a scene that some might object to as Dani tries to force the issue but this couple sizzle together and their romance truly did feel built on trust, equality and of course love.
This voluntary take is of a copy I received from Booksprout and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

3 to 4 stars (it's too hard to choose)

I was feeling the urge to reread "Unbound" by Evangeline. The heroine is a princess like Dannella in this book. I might still reread that book, but this satisfied the craving somewhat.

Though Ky became her father's (or people's) prisoner, Dannella was a prisoner herself, trapped in a misogynistic society and betrothed to the greedy Councilor Bray-bray (the derogative nickname Dannella & her sister gave to him).

After reading so many EA novels, the sex scenes and the dirty talk all become similar after a while (though Ky is a Touch Kindred, so he performed the Deep Touch on her), so I appreciated the (new) scene where Dannella was leaning over Ky to bandage up his whipped back, and her breasts were hanging in his face, and you know what happened next.

Though I tagged this as an erotic romance, there was sadly only one (vaginal) sex scene.

I felt like maybe the author couldn't choose what she wanted her character to look like, or maybe it was just an honest mistake when she wrote that Dannella had a slim arm, but then later we learned that she was plus-size. I'm not plus-size, but I wouldn't describe my arms as slim. I imagined Dannella as tall and slim, so her being plus-size suddenly messed with my mental image of the character.

However, I like how Dannella was headstrong and definitely a feminist. I'm sure had she been able to rule, she would have made a great Queen.

I thought it was really sad (and I didn't like) how she was knew she never going to see her father again. Wasn't it safer now that the councilor, the man she was supposed to marry, was dead? And then the Goddess told her not to go back to Goshan Prime because it wasn't safe.

Freeing The Prisoner: A Kindred Tales Novel:(Alien Warrior I/R BBW Science Fiction Romance ) Brides of the KIndred
By Evangeline Anderson

“Freeing The Prisoner” is an interesting addition to the Kindred Tales Novels. The characters featured are a Touch Kindred that are very intriguing (I want one) and we haven’t had too many of that kind of Kindred. Apparently they can do amazing things but also great damage because of their ability to touch and affect others without actually “touching “ them. Read the book for further explanations but it’s a very cool ability, In order to be on the mothership they must swear a sacred oath only to use their abilities when it is to pleasure or protect their mate.

Ky is an honorable male and takes his vow very seriously. He has purposely taken on the mission of checking out unknown worlds and to look for clues about the evil Hive, so he spends less time on the mothership.
Ky is a typical gorgeous tall all muscle protective alpha Kindred male with great sense of justice and empathy for others. I liked his character very much he goes through a lot of hell to uphold his vows.

Dani, the heroine, is. A Princess on the planet of Goshen Prime. Here females have virtually zero power and are on the lowest scale as far as respectability, freedom or rights. Still she is brave with a rebellious streak which I admired, roaming the secret tunnels around the palace despite the danger of being caught. She also speaks her mind, which in this horrid society is blasphemy for a female. She is a beautiful female on the plus size which is just perfect for Ky.

In all honesty I found this planet and it’s civilizations very disturbing and hard to read about.
I believe this was the intention of the author and she did a great job of bringing home the point of how important it is that we as females hold our ground, especially today when there are huge challenges against those trying to limit our freedoms and voices.

One day while adventuring through the secret passages Dani finds a prisoner who captures her curiosity, and she finds herself unable to stay away from the Kindred male they are treating so horribly.
Drawn together by terrible circumstances Ky and Dani find themselves unable to resist the growing attraction and feelings for each other.
Not going to narrate the whole story which has all the elements of a longer novel, excitement, scifi adventure, danger, tension, and a balanced amount of erotic scenes and sexual tension (always a plus especially from Evangeline Anderson).

Awesome appearances of some of the great men and women on the mothership and a preview of the next novel which sounds amazing and should be a great Xmas release.

Not a favorite

I hated the fact that the H would call the h “little girl”. It was like in every single sentence that he spoke and it was super annoying and a turn off. Who wants to be called a little girl when you’re getting intimate it’s just wrong.

I liked it

Not as strange as some of these can be. I just loved it. Dani is not the princess who needs to be rescued. More like she does the rescuing.

This is going to be a harsh review because of the pet name used well over 100 times by the H.

Is this a multi-part story? Yes
Does it end in a cliffhanger? No
Genre(s) : SciFi Romance
Instalove? Yup
Was cheating involved? No
Any major triggers to be aware of? The awful pet name said over 100 times... "Little Girl"! Creepy AF!

Some line towards the end... "Spread your legs for me, little girl"! or "That doesn't mean that I won't like your p#ssy, little girl.... or look at your hot clit, little girl. Really... Pedophile lines and all within a few minutes.
Evangeline... PLEASE HAVE THE PET NAME CHANGED FROM LITTLE GIRL TO ANYTHING ELSE THAT ISN'T A REFERENCE THAT CAN BE CONSTRUED AS PEDOPHILIA!

1.75 Stars for me!
My rating range of this story... 1 - 3.5 Stars

Normal to Descriptive 3-5
Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7
Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? Yup

The back story... The H is taken prisoner after landing on a planet in search of dangerous and aggressive alien race. The h is defiant and upset that she is disregarded because she is a female so she uses secret passeges in their castle to go places she is not allowed to. She finds the H magnetically shackled and being treated badly. She eventually helps him escape and the story gets underway.

Romance or Gist: The h, like most so far in the series is very naive yet falls for the H. His touch power is only to be used to pleasing his female (which is really stupid as he suffered immensely because he refused to use it. He then goes extremely angst when he does use it). He does use it on the h to her extreme enjoyment (of course, with her consent).

The drama explosion... The h is kidnapped by the evil villain followed by the H going stupidly sullen about the use of his power to protect.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Contrived
Was it OTT? Very
Separation involved? Yup
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Properly

Final Notes... This is a fun and sex-filled series featuring overly-sappy H's, extreme angst and internal monologs and child-like naive h's.

I think that the author should allow the H's to have a slight bit of an alpha streak (not obnoxious or man-whorish) and the h's to be a bit more knowledgeable and strong.

The h in this story started out strong but started to wilt.

I also wish, but as I read a later story first I know that it doesn't happen, that the author would not focus on her plus sized h's paired up with perfect, super strong, the most handsome, overly-caring perfect H's! I am happy to see more authors focusing on H's that are more realistic but the H's are still beyond unrealistic.

I kept getting annoyed every-time the hero called Dani little girl. It didn't come across as endearing or sexy to me. It felt more condescending and warped.

And Dani at the beginning of the book was supposed to be a modern strong willed woman but by the middle of the book came became yet another naive damsel in distress.

I felt like I was reading a book written by a creative 14 year old. The "Little Girl" pet name was so off-putting. The author also uses profanity in a way that makes it feel forced into the dialog. It was so stupid I found myself laughing often.

Mostly cringy

Likes:
Mostly an HEA
Decent world building

Dislikes:
Having the hero verbally needle the heroine by calling her “little girl,” pretending she somehow likes verbal disrespect as a nickname, and continuing to call her “little girl” during intimacy and no other romantic name ever. This is him establishing emotional and social dominance and control by verbally patronizing her every time he speaks to her. So, he may give lip service to respecting women, but he really doesn’t. That nickname during intimacy is cringy and it keeps being cringy throughout the book.

Consent issues abound. He doesn’t ask what she’s comfortable with before initiating intimate fondling through the back door. Ew. Additionally cringy.

Next, she ignores his religious beliefs and attempts physical intimacy with the hero to prevent legal rape by her abuser. This is disrespectful and she should not have done this. However, a close reading of the text shows this is different from most consent issue situation’s for several reasons.
1. He is not ever emotionally afraid she can complete the act against his will due to physical size incompatibility issues that make intimacy impractical. He does not FEEL helpless and he is not afraid she can damage his integrity because of the size difference. Most of the mental damage from consent violations come from feeling helpless and a loss of ability to abide by personal beliefs to behave according to a standard of behavior closely connected with subjectively chosen identity and integrity, against the will if the victim. The hero is not in psychological danger and he knows it.
2. The hero is never afraid that he will be physically damaged by her fearful attempts to take what she wants without asking. He is not physically in danger of intimate bruising and he knows that.
3. unlike the typical situation of most female leads in these romance books. The hero is not being sexually aroused to the point he allows her to violate him against his will. He is not intimidated by outside factors or the threat of force. He is also not physically injured to force him to comply.
I still disagree with what she did but all of these reasons together are why this book is two stars and not one.

Cringy intimacy. The intimacy scenes are impossible physiologically and refer to body parts they don’t exist while importing massive amounts of wishful thinking on the ones that do exist. The author adds pain as an arousal tool with zero content warning. Yuck. The author also has the feminist female lead decide she suddenly super cool with BDSM submission in the bedroom without a discussion about consent or any indication that this is a real desire and not a psychological mental break to keep herself safe now she has nowhere else to go. More Ew and massive break from the character as she’s built up to be. Finally, the bonding food that’s supposed to be so helpful doesn’t really do anything other than turn her on so they still have massive size incompatibility and she just can’t feel it in the moment. The result of this would realistically be massive pain and internal injuries for her requiring consent medical attention. That isn’t fun to read about and the author made such a point about their size incompatibility throughout the majority of the book that it’s impossible to suspend disbelief in the end and pretend everything’s OK.
Outside of intimacy scenes the book was okay. However, despite the less than typically offensive consent issues, the consent problems are still myriad, so I don’t recommend the book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I absolutely love this series and it is always great to see another book come out.

Kyron aka Ky was this sexy hot Touch Kindred. He was a good man and a man that kept his word. He was sent to gather information on the planet that the Hive had inhabited. Unfortunately things did not go as smoothly as he hope. Who are we kidding it did not go smoothly at all. He ended up bing captured by the Goshan Warriors.

I can not imagine what it was like for Ky to go through the hell he went through on this planet. This people were cruel. He was starved and beaten but not once while he was in captivity did he use his special abilities to harm the people on this planet.

Dannella aka Dani I just loved her character. She was very strong willed. She did not have the same views her people had. She was also her dad’s favorite but it seems the evil Tornk has other plans. He will do what it takes to tear down the bond that Dani and her father share.

It is funny how in your darkest hour that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. For Ky, Dani was just that. Dani had a good heart and slowly by slowly Dani and Ky were falling for each other.

Things get really really bad and Ky and Dani will find themselves between a rock and a hard place. Things get to looking pretty grim. But I believe the Goddess has different plans. It is amazing how when you see no way out and there is no hope in sight, that a miracle will happen.

It was good to see Merrick and Elise brought in this story. Shh I might have a little crush on Merrick. Have for a very long time. I loved how in Ky’s darkness moment Merrick and Elise were there to give him hope.

When reading a book I always ask my self if there is anything I would of love to seen different. I think I would of loved to seen Dani’s younger sister Lavinia and Jontu mate. It would of been nice to see he how he would take her and how her reaction would of been. But that is just me. I have a naughty mind, what can I say.

I truly enjoyed this story and glad I got a chance to read it. Looking forward to other books in this series.

Evangeline Anderson’s Brides of the Kindred series is truly amazing. Personally I can never wait for a new instalment and as soon as I have my hands on the latest book I cannot put it down. Freeing the prisoner is no exception. Although it is the 20th story in this series it doesn’t lack any enthusiasm or action. I absolutely love how Ms Anderson can bring characters to life in such a way that you believe you are either reading about a true story or are actually there watching events unfold.
Freeing the prisoner takes place on the planet Goshan Prime where Touch Kindred, Kyron has been forced to land and has been taken prisoner. Kyron has sworn an oath never to use his touch gift as a weapon ever again and to only use it for the pleasure of his mate. This is an oath that he takes seriously and is the only reason that he has allowed these strange new people to take him prisoner. Its while he is his cell waiting that we meet the beautiful princess of Goshan Prime.
Daniella is the princess of the blood, but feels that she might as well be a pauper from the streets. On Goshan Prime females are only to be lady like, beautiful and never be heard from. They are there for the pleasure of the male they are married to and never have the need to worry about the world of politics or news. Daniella is one of the very few that believe this system is wrong and rebels against this way of life every chance that presents itself.
Freeing the prisoner also allows us to see some of our old favourites such as Merrick and Elise, Sylvan, Liv and Sophie along with a few glimpses of storylines that will sure to be followed up on in future books. It has the action we have all come to expect from this fantastic series along with the bad guys or evil guys in this instance and ofcourse the very sexy love scenes that are extremely well written.
Do yourself a favour and grab this book today…. And keep your eyes open for the Christmas instalment coming out, from the mini preview it looks amazing!

well well well, colour me surprised!

this book was definitely better than my first ever read by this author, "claimed". don't get me wrong, it was still pretty mediocre overall but at least the sex was hot and the "plot" relatively more engaging.

the worldbuilding was poorly constructed, there's no other way to put it. the hero, kyron, is a pretty flat character, though like in "claimed" pretty underwhelming as an alpha male, while dani, the heroine, was um... well, she definitely felt more solid than liv/olivia though at some point she seemed to kind of lose her spirit? idk. also, for how sharp and knowledgeable about politics she is made to be, she sure was dense enough to not understand the very blatant hints the obvious villain of the story kept dropping on her lmao

honestly, i don't really have much to say about this book... it wasn't great but not terrible either. it kept me reading until the end, after all. though i did skim quite a bit towards the end.

one thing that's VERY funny, in regards to the worldbuilding, was that the author tried to combine an alien planet and a royal scene for the setting. the characters, precisely because they're royals, speak in an old-fashioned language, yet this is disrupted by their frequent use of very modern terms like "kit" for small wound treatment or "disinfectant spray". the book fails to maintain a consistent tone throughout the story and it's clear that the author had trouble making this alien race both "medieval" and futuristic.

also i'm sorry but even though this society is ruled exclusively by men, i find it hard to believe that the KING would let a subordinate (of low birth at that!!!) speak in such a disrespectful and insolent manner to a princess, his own daughter. like hello? he's a joke! he literally allows his inferiors to trample all over his family AND himself lmao he felt like a puppet in the hands of the real game players

**Received ARC from Booksprout for a fair and honest review**
Freeing the Prisoner is the 20th book in the Brides of the Kindred series. This book could be read as a standalone, the author does a great job of giving you the information you need so you don't feel like you're missing anything. This book was hard to put down, was a crazy rollercoaster that you don't want off of when it ends. Though this is the 20th book in the series, don't think that this will be more of the same that you've already read. Evangeline Anderson really is creative and has a lot of fresh great ideas and this book is no exception.
Commander Ky, a touch kindred was sent to investigate the Hives planet. While on his way there traveling through the blind he got off course and was captured by the Goshan's and locked in a cell as a prisoner. The ruler's daughter, Princess Danella/Dani is very curious when she see's the big Kindred being brought in. Unbeknownst to anyone the Princess knows her way around the secret tunnels and has access that she shouldn't. When everybody is tied up with other business, she sneaks into his cell and talks to him. After their talk the Princess has a new take on things, especially from how Goshan Prime is.
I really enjoyed the characters, the author gives amazing details about everything so you really can visualize it well, but doesn't go overboard where it ruins the story. Ky is a Kindred, he's an alpha male, but again not overboard. Dani is a strong woman, she doesn't roll over and just take whats given to her, she stands up for what she believes is right even knowing that she may get in trouble or punished. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. If I had to try and be picky and come up with a complaint, the only thing I could think of would be I wanted more information about them at the end. There is an epilogue, but it's more of a what's soon to come. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!

I often wonder where Ms. Anderson gets her ideas. This book is about Ky, a Touch Kindred on a mission to find new civilizations to trade with and find brides. What he finds is a planet where the males rule supreme and women are chattel. Among these women is Princess Dani, a woman who believes that women should be equal to men. Kys ship gets forced down and he is thrown into the dungeon and left to starve. Dani knows all the secret passages in the palace, so she hears all state secrets and finds the way to visit Ky. She feeds him and gives him water and they get to know each other. Her father is the Monarch and has a nasty Advisor who has lied to the Monarch about many things. He wants Dani to marry him so he can punish her for her insolence.
Ky and Dani escape from her home world and eventually find their way to the Mother Ship, after stopping on the Hive world with dire results. We revisit characters from past books, and the Goddess makes an appearance. I don't want to tell you the whole story. When you read this book you will want to have it unfold the way it did for me These characters are fully developed and engaging. This was a quick read. I read it in one sitting and the way this story developed and just flowed was steller I started reading and didn't look back. When I finished I found a small gem. An excerpt from the next Kindred tale. I love all the Evangeline Anderson books. Her writing grabs me from the get-go and carries me along. Get the book if you like Anderson's style, love Kindred men, and are ready to explore new worlds taken from the fertile mind of this author.

Spoilers

Kindred stories are some of my favorite ones by Evangeline. I really loved the way Dani the wayward princes in a male chauvinistic society decides to rescue the only man who doesn't treat her like an object. Kyron is a touch kindred who falls in love with the princess the minute he meets her because she is his mate and he figures that out quickly when she feeds and cares for him while he is in captivity despite his largeness.

Dani is smart and despite being raised in an almost abusive environment has a backbone. She wasn't raised to be a warrior and yet she seems to be one. Her sister seemed vapid and a little clueless but when Kyron escapes with Dani to the hive plant they realize they're in love. She thinks he is dead when the bad guys show up and blow up the ship. She gets dragged back to her plant to marry some deadly old blowhard who intends to punish her. Oh and her father is an idiot and allows the evil bastard to convince him to allow his daughters to be married against their will but Merrick and Kyron show up to save them.

I liked that part however the part about the dad just giving them away like an idiot and having the women he was supposed to have loved stoned to death all seemed stupid to me. He was a king... act like it.

It all works out even though Kyron is a dumbass and tries to leave her briefly...

SO for me this was a SEPE or 4.5 star read....

But in order to gain their freedom, Ky must break his sacred oath. Will it cost him his love and his life?

I liked the fact the Dani had a lot of power in this. It was her decision on whether she should trust Ky or not and how she had to have faith in herself to do it.

I'm writing this review as I read the book....

Oh Man!I am laughing my ass of. Seriously.... The following is how the book begins!!!!!!!

“No, I don’t,” Ky said with dignity. “But if I did she would be neither
my ruler nor my slave but my equal.”

This shit. Oh, it's just so overwhelmingly everywhere in these books it's even the beginning of them now. It's oversaturation.

The Heroine is a spoof of a modern day female in what we are told is a supposedly male dominated world where women have no say or rights. This is disproved in the first pages as the princess constantly is doing everything other than what a woman should and never faces punishment for it.
She fucking should because otherwise this world is a lie. Hell-fucking-oooooooooo there!

Don't state the rules of the land if they are not adhered too. Thank you. There is no danger when no repercussions are to be had. How do you fuck that up? And it's like that with 50% of the books if not more. Happy fluff romance with no real danger.

It's beyond stupid a person with psychic abilities is not permitted to kill with them as soldiers in a war. Think of this God damn concept. You can use telekinesis to kill and you are punished for doing so.

There's just so much that is supposed to be an element of concern or the cause of a problem but it's really not cause it's all just padding with no real negative coming from it.

Ky basically makes a wrong turn on his way to the Hive's home planet to learn more about them. He's on a scouting mission and lands on a different planet. Once there, he is taken prisoner and meets the princess Danni. Danni is a very outspoken female on a planet where women are treated lower than the males. Her father is the ruler so she has been given some leeway but that is all about to change if she doesn't start acting like an obedient, docile female. She visits Ky in the interrogation room and is fascinated with him and the way his people see women as equals and how the Kindred worship a female deity. But is it all a rouse so she'll help set him free?
Then something terrible happens, Danni's father gives her and her sister to 2 repulsive, abusive men. They are to be married and treated like slaves. Danni does the only thing she can think of, runs to Ky. Somehow, he will be able to save her, or will he?
I loved seeing a woman who is supposed to be obedient and follow a certain set of rules strike out and insist she be treated better. Ky and Danni had undeniable chemistry and they were perfect for each other.
We also get a bit about the Christmas book and I cannot wait to read it!! This series should never end!!!

4.25 stars. This well written tale is authored by a gifted storyteller and in this installment of the series she tells the story of the of bonding Princess Dannella "Dani" Tagenia Yorva of Goshan Prime to Commander Kyron "Ky" an alpha Touch Kindred traveler. While on the peaceful mission of exploration of the sector of space known as the "Hive", Commander Ky is captured, held hostage, denied food and drink and beaten with no immediate change of escape. Dani, one of the monarch's daughters, befriends Ky and brings him food and drink and tends his wounds. Dani is attracted to Ky's physique but also to his views on the value and strength of women which is the opposite of the views of her father and males on her planet which she has rebelled against for years. Eventually, Ky introduces Dani to the pleasures of his Touch Sense and tells her of his Deep Touch of pleasure that is reserved for the woman he loves or his mate, he also tells her of the vow that he's made never to use his ability to telegraph his touch sense as a weapon. She readily accepts his pleasurable touches; but also solicits him to take her virginity which will reveal her true eye color and make her undesirable to the tyrant her father wants her to marry. In the end, all issues preventing this couple's happiness or resolved and she eagerly reveals Ky's "Deep Touch".

A Novella of the Brides of the Kindred Series.

Main Female: Princess Dannella "Dani" Tagenia Yorva of Goshan Prime
Main Male: Commander Kyron "Ky" an alpha Touch Kindred traveler.

This story is centered on Kyron travelling through the Blind to find out any other details about the current threat to the Mothership and Earth: The Hive. While trying to navigate to The Hive's main world, Kyron is captured, held hostage, denied sustenance and beaten with no immediate chance of escape. He finds himself on Gorham Prime; a world where males are dominant in every way. Females are considered lower than pets. They have no freedom, and are forced in to servitude and sexual slavery.

Dani, one of the monarch's daughters, befriends Kyron and becomes attracted to his physique and kindred views on placing women above all else. Dani has always been headstrong, and has always had the intelligence to go with ruling a world. But she has one fsult: she is female.

With the help of Kyron, Dani escapes her home world, along with her Little Sister Lavi. Along the way, both Dani and Kyron as faced with differences they need to overcome, and the cruelty of her people. Kyron is a Touch Kindred, and to Dani and her people, his Touch Sense looks like Black Magic. But when Dani has the threat of being married off to an awful old male, she know she needs to escape from this backwards world she has grown up on.

A gorgeous story with posts of events, intimacy and playfulness. Also has a few dark scenes. Love how all novellas are stand alone to read, but can also tie into the main stories of the series.

The only downside to some of these novellas is a pattern between the main characters: we are now onto virgin Princesses being rescued by their (Kindred) Knight in shining armour. I love fairytales, but even this can grate at you when the females are naive and innocent, then suddenly they are at sexual maturity

>Book review - Freeing the Prisoner

>I am an independant reviewer. This book is the 4th in the Kindred Tales series and ends in an HEA. Ky is a Touch Kindred captured while on a search mission. He is mistreated and kept in a jail cell. Dani is the Princess of the Realm. She has a hard time fitting into a society that does not place any value upon women. She is not allowed an opinion or freedom to better herself. I love how Dani is not the type to lay back and take the abuse. She secretly finds passages around the castle to eavesdrop and learn about the political climate of the time. She also finds the prisoner and is instantly attracted to him. She gives him first aid when he is whipped and food and water when he is starved.

>Ky is an interesting character. He could easily escape his capture and torture using his Touch senses. He has made a vow to only use his Touch sense for good and never evil. He breaks that vow when Dani is in danger. This book is basically a view into what a planet without equality is like.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. There is a scene with Dani and Ky that has questionable consent (on Ky’s part). I am giving the story 5 stars. I love seeing previous characters and the story line is engaging.

(Kyron & Dani) TRIGGERS: forced marriage, murder, sexual assault. Dani lives on a planet where women have no say in anything. They are to be seen and not heard. Their main purpose is to breed and they have no choice in who they marry. Both Dani and her sisters are daughters of the king and they are very strong minded. An arranged marriage for her little sister to a bad man with thirty other wives causes Dani to break the rules and try to save her. Kyron is a touch Kindred. He's on a mission but is captured by Dani's people and imprisoned. Dani finds him and is immediately drawn to him. He speaks of women of earth and the freedom they have. He tells her how his kind cherishes women and lets them have their say. They become close and when Dani gets into trouble, they run together. I liked this story, only that I loved the relationship between the main characters. I wasn't feeling the way of life for Dani's people but it gives the characters more of a reason to leave. It's not bad but so far, it's not my favorite.

While not for the faint of heart, I enjoyed Miss Anderson's underdog story, "Freeing the Prisoner". This many -leveled story dealt with women/ human rights issues as only science fiction can. The main plot of this story is stand-alone with parts at the beginning and end tying it to the overarching plot of the Kindreds and Humanity's joint struggle against the dread Insectoid race. Ewww bugs! The main characters are likable while the villains are of course, simply Awful! Atrocities include physical and mental abuse along with other forms of injustice by the villains, including murder. A scene near the end, from the Insectoids' disturbing layer adds a graphic element of horror that brings to mind the tv show "Bones" or some episodes of the "X-Files"; just in time to start the Halloween creepies.

Just started this after finishing the previous Novella (Seeing with the Heart). Really enjoyed this one as it goes back to the Touch Kindred, which we haven't had a book for since #9 if I'm remembering correctly.

Another short Kindred story with good content, though I've enjoyed this more then the previous one. Touch Kindred Kyron getting paired up with Goshan Princess Danella. This book had more of a typical nasty Villain, and brought back old favorites Merrick and Elise from book #6, which I thought was a nice touch. It also sets up the next Novella by introducing another sub category of Blood Kindred in the end, the Pitch Blood. All round excellent book.

Overall plot wise it fits in after book 19, with more Hive references than the last novella, but still not so much that you can't read this out of sequence. Would suggest reading Unbound (#19) first to give you more context though.

Another fantastic addition to the Kindred Brides series. No story is the same, other than the intensity throughout each story. The Kindred's loyalty is magnificent in itself, but the situations the warriors find themselves in reminds us they are fierce protectors as well. This story is no different. Dani and Ky meet in an unlikely manor, but the love they share is unflappable. Dani falls for Ky so slowly that she doesn't even realize it, but he loves her with a fierceness only the Kindred has. When things go badly for them both, he's determined to do all he can to save her and her sister. No matter the cost, even if it means losing her.

I cannot wait to see what's happening next, this has to be an all time favorite series for me. I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

I was hesitant to read this book because I did not enjoy Seeing with the Heart. To me the novellas as part of the Kindred bride series aren’t as good as the regular books. However, I am glad that I did read it as this book exceeded my expectations. While the time span in this novella was 1 week, the events unfolding read longer. Therefore, the buildup was expertly done causing me to learn a bit about the characters and their situations better. The longer buildup also allowed for a better setup of the setting and gave way to plenty possibilities of things that could happen. Expectations of events unfolding and the unexpected way the author conveyed the characters interactions presented a better read of this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next Kindred novel.

I enjoyed the main characters Kyron (Touch Kindred) and Dannella who is a princess of Goshahl Prime. Kyron is a pilot who is off to explore what is beyond the Blind and finds more than he bargained for. The planet he is escorted to is made up of a society where men rule and women barely hold any worth.

Dannella is not the typical Goshan female and has different ideas on how women should be treated but the only person who shares her views is the Kindred Warrior that was just taken prisoner.

This book, like the others in this series, was a satisfying light read. At first, I had difficulty enjoying the stories because they felt like a half a story but as I get further into the series, I see how these books are all just little puzzle pieces that lead to the end.

On a personal level, I enjoyed Kyron's endearment for Dani and her curiosity about him and his culture.
