Perpetually cheerful Gwenith Donovan is pleased with life. She owns a hobby store she loves, carries on daily arguments with her chubby cat Macgregor, and maintains a meticulous comic-book collection that makes her geeky heart sing. With no need or interest in romance to muck up her happy routine, Gwen is content to spend her days managing her shop and her evenings over a pint with friends in the village pub.
Until the moment that changes everything – when Gwen discovers she might just be living in her own magickal fantasy.
As a high sorcerer, Lochlain Laird isn’t used to taking orders – but even he can’t disobey the Goddess Danu when she punishes him for making a life-altering choice. Danu forces Loch to leave the fae realm to protect a distracted woman on a quest. Feeling the task beneath him, Loch remains surly as he does his best to keep his charge from being killed by the evil Domnua all while trying to ignore her unexpected charms.
As the tension builds on their journey to break a centuries-old curse, Loch must learn to put his ego aside and Gwen must trust in her own powers before everything they are fighting for is lost forever.

Gwenith Donovan lives a happy life in her quiet village, satisfied with her carry-all shop, comic book collection, and close relationship with her gran. She doesn't need romance to complicate things and keeps her relationships simple. But her life begins to grow more and more complex when she discovers she has magical abilities of her own and suddenly her life resembles something out of her fantasy books.
High fae sorcerer Lochlan Laird believes the role of protector to be beneath him, but after breaking a sacred law, this is his punishment in lieu of the usual death sentence. Surly Lochlan makes no secret of his unhappiness at his situation as he tries to keep Gwen safe from those who would see their mission fail and ignore his unwelcome attraction to her. If they are to succeed in their mission to secure the ancient spear that is key to breaking a curse set to destroy Ireland, Lochlan must set aside his arrogance and Gwen must find her confidence before the fight is lost.
Maybe I'm getting used to this narrator, because she didn't bug me as much on this revisit as she did with the two previous books. Lochlan was such a grumpy hero and Gwen was all sunshine and optimism and I enjoyed their interactions. This was a fun adventure and I loved that Gwen never became insufferable or made glaringly stupid decisions and, despite his surliness, neither did Loch. I also appreciated that, for all her sweetness, Gwen was still very strong, determined, and unafraid to fight for what she wanted. This was a nice story and probably my favorite audio revisit in this series. It was a lovely way to pass the time.
I was given an ARC of this book for an honest reveiw.
I have really enjoyed this series so far. I loved Tricia's Mystic Cove series and even though I usually have this kind of love/hate relationship with books about the Fae I decided to give this series a try and I'm really glad I did.
I love that Tricia writes stories about strong women and the often times stubborn, (but eventually loveable) men that are sent to protect them. Gwen was wonderful, I loved her sense of humor, I could feel her joy for life in every page. What a wonderful world it would be if we could all grasp her spirit and let it lead us in our daily lives.
While we know this story is about their quest in finding the spear and love, because after all this is a romance, I found the over all theme of this story was about a woman finding herself, discovering her magick, her roots and it was beautifully done. I was giggling along with Gwen and was left with a warm feeling of light and laughter at the end.
The battle for light over darkness continues in this 3rd installment of the series. Always cheerful Gwen has accepted her lot in life that she'll never quite fit in nor be the girl that guys desire when things start to turn and not necessarily for the better when a grumpy stud is square in her path and mad that he's been placed there. Things go from bad to explosive as happy Gwen starts getting her feet under her and her temper rises up to match the stubborn man! Well written and very witty to keep you entertained for hours. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Danu forces Loch to leave the fae realm to protect a distracted woman on a quest. If they are to succeed in their mission to secure the ancient spear that is key to breaking a curse set to destroy Ireland, Gwen is the Seeker in this quest for the magical treasure of a spear the good fae are seeking. I enjoyed the characterization of Loch (hint: body of water) as the unwilling Protector.
The Tuatha dé Danann, which means 'the peoples of the goddess Danu' in Old Irish. This series is fun & I love how the Mystic Cove characters show up.
It's filled with the magic of the Fae, Ireland, magical spear, and the quest to save the isle. The eternal battle of good versus evil, this tale is a comfortable, entertaining read to pass an afternoon away lost in the magic of this author’s imagination. 🌹
Ok, my favorite book of series so far!! Tricia O’Malley has truly got the gift of words! Best Heroine so far out of all her books and series. I loved Gwen and her delight in learning everything as she’s going along. Perfect paring with Loch who’s used to being in charge and not used to being questioned or challenged. Lovely story, lots of adventure and drama and sweetness all roiled into magical goodness. Now to stew and simmer while Author wracks her brain to write next story!!
Felt very rushed, the story is very cliche. I would say bordering on too cheesie. After reading the Grace's Cove series I thought this series would have been better written.
This third book in the series is just as fun to read as the first two. I love the fact that these books are about strong women, who, with the help of friends have to fight evil and come out on the winning side while also finding a love interest who isn’t afraid of a woman’s power. This is exactly the kind of story I need to read this week to distract me from darker things and to remind me that light can overcome darkness!
I love the mythical themes in this series. Each book follows a new character with a gift that allows them to find fae artifacts. I like that we still see some of the characters from previous books and that they all work together to fight the dark fae. I already have the next book in this series ready to go!
Book 3 is my favorite so far because I love the cheerful, optimistic, exuberant Gwen. Gwen is the Seeker in this quest for the magical treasure of a spear the good fae are seeking. I enjoyed the characterization of Loch (hint: body of water) as the unwilling Protector; ha, he was well portrayed though his transformation could have had more self-reflection. I had tears at the touching moment Gwen discovers her birth mother and enjoyed seeing that group of mystical people drawn into the story (no spoilers from me). And Bianca and Seamus, well, don’t we all adore their company?
A finger shaking to the author for forgetting to tell the reader that Gwen’s much beloved cat, McGregor, was whisked away to safety to the land of the Fae along with her grandmother (so I’m enlightening readers now). I wondered throughout the book about his fate and why she never mentions him since he was so important to her. It was strange and disconcerting that she doesn’t think about him or tell her new friends about him and we don’t see him again until the very end..that was a no no and cost one star. Otherwise a well written, enjoyable story full of love and life’s lessons to seize moments of joy and to persevere through hardship and loss.
Love, love, love this series! Tricia writes such amazing beautiful stories set in Ireland. This is a great mythologic based series that is centered around two types of fae (good and bad) who are fighting for the future of civilization. There are four treasures that need to be found to totally defeat the Domnua (bad fae). the seekers don't know they are destined for greatness, and the guardians are lifelong defenders of their seekers. Then you've got Bianca and Seamus who are like the loyal sidekicks who help with all the icky fae killing and protecting. All in all, an amazing series and I can't wait - but am ok since its the end of the series - for the fourth book!
Very nice but it seems less of a battle as the stories go along rather than increasing in trials each time. This one didn't seem to have much power other than being able to shoot ice when the first Seeker had several powers that came to her during her quest. They only followed one clue in this one as well which made it seem too easy. I thought there should have been additional trials throughout and additional powers gained. The merepeople were certainly a nice addition however. Still an entertaining read but slightly disappointing after the Stone Song. Hope the Sphere Song is the best yet.
This was such a fun read. I’ve enjoyed this author and the different series she’s gifted us. They’re always a fun, comfortable, magickal read with just enough romance woven in. They’re really a great escape, and I enjoy the time sometimes in this world.
This book is a continuation of the series, and this time we have the third Seeker’s story. You do need to read this series in order. We’ve got the grouchy protector and sunshine seeker this time. He was never meant to be a protector, being a powerful sorcerer fae. But as punishment for breaking a sacred law, even for s noble reason, he is tasked with being the protector to the next seeker. He definitely has to get over his ego!
I loved watching her come into her powers. This self proclaimed geeky, boring, wallflower girl is so much more than she ever imagined. It was such a fun ride. It’s a short read, but action packed.
When Loch angers the Goddess Sang, he is sentenced to servitude as the Protector of the next Seeker. It is an understatement to say he us not happy, but at least he will live till the quest is over. Finding himself connected to the geeky Gwen with her cat and "Thus and That " store is definitely not the life he had planned as a far of Royal birth.
Gwen, herself, had recently discovered she has a unique power and imagines herself a possible superheroine, just like the ones in the comics she so loves to read. Joined by Bianca and Seamus, Gwen and Loch take on the quest to find the Sacred Spear.
Unlike the first two books of this series, there us much mire humor and mire questions about the hearts of the Seeker and Protector. The pair will have to work together if they are to secure the solar, but can they?
Very good and fun to read. In each of these books the main characters have things to learn as they complete the steps in their quests. This one was a bit different from the other two in that the protector wasn't assigned to the seeker from an early age. Instead the protector was assigned practically at the last minute as a punishment in lieu of death (first chapter). Gwen is a refreshing character as she is perpetually happy. A comic book geek and video gamer who owns her own shop that she lives above. When strange things start happening, she's delighted to discover she has powers like a superhero from her comics. As the story progresses she discovers more and more about herself as does Lochlain who is her assigned protector. I really enjoyed reading this book.
. . . but how can you not believe in fairytale endings with Lochlain and Gwen waging battle against the Dark Fae… and finding love in the world of Light! In this day and age, as tomorrow is January 6, 2022, it is pure joy to read of another quest for a seeker and her protector to battle for right, to never give up and to be rewarded with a forever love. Tricia O’Malley makes you believe and at my age, that takes an excellent spinner of tales. I’ll have to buy a new bookcase as I will read everything she has and will write♥️ On to Book 4!
Well, I love the stories. I only rated it four star because I get so sick of female authors writing about tiny women and big men. I know several women who are over 6 feet tall or close to it who date men shorter than them and 5 foot eight, but prefer taller men, so why do these authors think tiny women and 6 1/2 foot men is an ideal? It’s ridiculous no matter how the story. Can’t some of these magical women be tall and the men less than lusty and not so tall just simply courageous men willing to do their best for the girl/woman? Well, I’ll certainly have some in my stories.
I read all four books back to back so one review for all. Four different woman tasked to find four mythic treasures of Ireland to save the world from the dark fae. They're each assigned a protector (male, natch so romance) and are joined by the real stars of the books, a female human and fae male sidekick. Bianca and Seamus rock.
Pleasant enough. Everyone seemed to accept magic rather quickly but, perhaps, the Irish are prone to that belief anyway. Each woman was different although the challenges seemed like a lot of driving around and fighting off bad guys.
Finished this book in one day could not put it down.I started reading it immediately after the second one and just as I was about to go bed to. This series will grab tight of you and not let you go , I loved everything in this book I want to friends with all these characters , I want to travel to Ireland again and this story and this series let me do that without leaving home. If you love Ireland and magic and fae and Romance then I suggest no wait I highly recommend this series. Now on to the last book
4 1/2 Stars: I really enjoyed this third book in the series. It was filled with bits of wisdom. What was delightful: having the Seeker be an eternal optimist; the friendship forged between the two sunny women, Gwen and Bianca; seeing the power of song and music being integrated in a powerful way. The typical plot was there but it was tempered with new elements and adventures. One plot hole: what happened to Loch’s sister? Overall, an uplifting read. I look forward to reading the next, the last, book.
This book was one of my favorites in the series because of my love of the ocean. I would say more, but I don't want to spoil any surprises. If you haven't already started the Isle of Destiny Series, get reading! You will not be able to put any of the books down. I read the first 3 in the series in one long weekend. Also, The Mystic Cove Series is another fantastic series by Tricia O'Malley I highly recommend.
Love is tough to attain in this third volume of the quest. Loch is an angry sorcerer who doesn't like being told what to do. He doesn't like showing his feelings just like most men. Because he was so set against loving Gwen, he didn't make a very good protector. I didn't like this 3rd book as well as the other two because he was so hard to like.
Heading for the fourth book in this series. Sad that the series is almost over but excited to see what happens now. An exceptional read all the way through and each book as good or better than the previous. Tricia is great and no matter what the storyline, you can be sure it will suck you into the story as if you were there. Guaranteed fun, excitement, love and adventure
I loved this book, the third in the the series of four. I so far loved the first book and third one the best. I can't wait to read the forth one. In this book, I laughed out loud and enjoyed right along with the characters! It has been a fun book to read anytime a book can make you laugh you know it's a good one! Thank you Tricia O'Malley for the series I am enjoying it very much ☺
Gwenith Donovan has never known her parents - she lives with a woman she calls Gran, but isn't related to her. Nevertheless, she's always felt loved and happy. Then she finds out she's actually fae and is one of the chosen seekers to find an item to save the world from the evil Danua. Lochland Laird has been tasked as Gwen's protector, and Briana and Seamus are along for the ride as well. Another fantastical adventure that includes sirens and mermaid - I'm really enjoying this series!
Each book I read in this series, I think …this is my favorite and then I read the next one and I think… this is my favorite. But this one is my favorite. It was so good!! I absolutely loved Gwen and Loch’s story. It like the others had an interesting quest, full of mystery, danger, and lots of romance. Seamus and Bianca are back for the quest which makes it even more fun! Such a great book!!!
This got better, not so fast paced and way more back story. The men continue to be hard headed but they do come around in the end. Didn't appreciate how Loch was in the beginning, with the belittling and being a general dick. One question I do have is what happened to his sister? Loved that Gwen stayed true to herself the entire book. Wasn't the biggest fan of the continued use of "with great power comes great responsibility".. but also she was comic book nerd so I get it.
Good god. If I wasn’t such a stubborn person and determined to finish this series, I would have DNF’d about 15% into this book and never looked back.
I’ve never been a fan of the virginity trope (or “innocence” as in this book) and could have done without it. Also the insta love and then over exaggeration and repetitive nature of declarations was incredibly annoying.
I do love this author but this series is not one of her better ones. Onto the last book I go. Begrudgingly.
Another amazing entry in this series. Right balance of action, character development and romance. Has some sex scenes, but not overly done, nor constant. More like a natural result of the story being told. This could be read as a stand alone, but it really needs to be read with the others as it is basically one long story arc in the four books…all of which are out, and well priced. Highly recommend.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is my new favorite book from Tricia. I have loved everyone but the main character Gwen is my favorite heroine. She is so heartfelt and strong. I love how positive she is and she can kick some butt. There was magic, tension, romance, and mermaids! But not your typical mermaids, Warriors! Read this, you won't regret it.
