Every time Kendell Summer thinks she has finally apprehended her ancestor, Baron Malveaux, the dastardly spirit slips from her grasp. His being freed from the voodoo totem to rejoin the living creates unprecedented dangers—too many for Kendell to face alone, causing her to turn to her newly discovered Wiccan counterpart, Sanguine Delarosa, for help. Sanguine, however, comes with her own challenges. Acting more like a bratty younger sister than an accomplished swamp witch, Sanguine has her own secret agenda. And once again Kendell, her boyfriend, and her faithful pooch, Cheesecake, end up in harm’s way while fighting for humanity’s greater good. But Sanguine is the key—if there is any hope of preventing a war between the living and the dead, Kendell and Sanguine must find a way to trust each other and work together.

We are at the third book in the Malveaux Curse series and things are still not perfect for Kendell and Myles. Baron Malveaux has been contained or so Kendell and Myles think. Lincoln decides he can use Baron without Baron using him and sets him free. Now, they and everyone else are on the trail of the walking stick of Baron Samedi. Will Kendell and company find it first, or will someone die in the hunt? I think this latest addition is the best yet in the series. As always, the book was well-written and had plenty of action. I love how cute Kendell and Myles are in their relationship. I also really enjoy that they don’t mind relying on their friends for help and support; sometimes it takes more than a couple of people to do a task. I also want to mention the new character Sanguine. I really liked her, and I hope she will show up in future installments. If you like light, almost cozy, paranormal mysteries, you won’t go wrong in picking this up! Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Thinking that the rotten Baron Malveaux's essence had been captured, our friends Myles and Kendell, together with friends should have been able to relax. However, power hungry men are bound to do all sorts of stupid things. So the Loas Papa Ghede, advises Myles to the need of securing a missing magical item. Such an item that could cause irreconcilable harm in both the land of the living and Guinea, the temporary land of the dead, in Voodoo beliefs. The power of Voodoo, and Wicca are combined to make a very dramatic episode come to life and have us turning pages to find out what happens next. Yes, a truly unique read!
Baron Malveaux is back at it again with new tricks up his sleeve. Kendall and Myles just can't catch a break. I've really come to like this series the more I read. With the help of their friends Kendall and Myles are in search of Baron Malveaux's walking stick. It's a race against time to see who finds it first. The story ends on a cliffhanger but it makes you that more excited for the next installment!
This book has lots of excitement and surprises, and the gang is all present and accounted for. There are a few places that drag a little for me but the exciting stuff is frequent enough to make that a non issue. The plotting is generally good,; I could hope for a little more character development, but it was a pleasant read and I've downloaded book four.
I really enjoy this series and look forward to each new installment. The characters are interesting, fun, and I’m enjoying getting to know them better. The story is intriguing, I didn’t want to stop reading. The author leaves me wanting more.
I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
This series is seriously the work of a creative genius. New Orleans based supernatural books are a dime a dozen, but the thing I really like about G.A. Chase and Deanna Chase is that they are willing to step out of well worn path. While their styles are almost identical to one another they are definitely unique from other authors.
I have to say this isn't my usual genre. That being said I love this series. It's full of zany antics that are almost Scooby Doo worthy and great characters that keep me coming back for more. I love the magic and mystery created by the author and they just get better with every book.
