“I can't allow myself to slip, not even a little bit."

Overwhelmed with school and her social life, high-strung violinist Brianne is scrambling to get everything ready for graduation. On top of that, she's working hard to find a job impressive enough for her parents. She's kept people out with her prickly exterior for too long, though. When a super cute student bumps into her, spilling her coffee—she finds herself wondering if she should give this intriguing new friend a chance.

"I've never been able to make friends."

Biology student Margie transferred to Beasley with the hope of starting with a clean slate. But she hasn't been successful in making friends, and the loneliness cuts at her soul. When she bumps into Brianne, the mortifying incident turns into the opportunity for an actual social life—and much more. Margie has never considered dating women before, but the easy rapport she develops with Brianne seems like it could lead to something beautiful.

“I'm having such a hard time keeping up.”

As Margie and Brianne's relationship blossoms, and Brianne gets involved with a street performance group, the two find themselves growing in ways they never imagined. Margie finds the confidence she never thought she had, and Brianne learns to relax a little. But when the summer looms, threatening to pull them in different directions, the two women have to make a choice—commit to a relationship, or commit to their ambitions?

High Note is a 40,000 word steamy FF standalone romance. It is the second book in the Pitch Perfect series. Each book can be read independently but would be even more enjoyable read as a series! They all contain a happily ever after ending.

Previous m/m incarnation as Reverb (Rhythm and Rhyme Book 2) by Harper Logan.

Short instalove romance between Brianne (lesbian) and Margie (heterosexual). It just takes meeting a single lesbian, becoming friends, watching lesbian porn and one make out session to get Margie to flip her sexual identity. Brianne respects her stated preference as a straight girl by pointing out two different guys who show some interest in Margie. Other than claiming to be looking for a boyfriend, Margie shows no love for boys.

Since this is a plot driven story, character development is weak. The reader is left with minimal descriptions and no depth of understanding. High Note barrels toward its goal line. All major relationship signifiers are ticked off one by one. Logan employs "a connect the dots" writing technique.

Reverb is the second book in the Rhythm and Rhyme series by Harper Logan. I loved everything about this story. The storyline was wonderful and I loved getting to watch Marcus as he came out of his shell and became a more confident person. I also enjoyed watching Byron become a happier more relaxed person. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I didn't feel that Byron was a very clearly defined character in the course of this book. From the prior book, we knew him as a bit of a stand-offish music major snob who ended up being ok after he got to know Zander. In this book, we find out that he's not actually a marketing major, who also plays classical violin. Throughout this whole book, he treats his violin and music as a tertiary priority (at most), but that never felt right for how how he was described, to me - I expected that he would seek solace and escape in his music.

Then there were a couple of contradictory descriptions for him that I felt were pretty glaring. Byron tells us that he's an introvert and feels that being around people is draining, yet earlier he couldn't sympathize with Marcus' feelings of not being comfortable around groups of strangers. He also, several times, goes around talking to people that he doesn't know, and comes out of those situations more energized. We also have a moment fairly early in the book where Byron thinks that he may be a ""fixer"" with the type that he looks for in a boyfriend being someone that he can help and protect. Then, in the very next sentence, he finds that his protectiveness for Marcus is out of character for himself.

All in all, it felt like Byron was written one way in earlier versions, but Harper decided to change him at some point in the editing process and what we got was a confusing mix of two seperate personalities forced into a single person.

On the other hand, Marcus was wonderfully consistent and very relatable to me. My favorite scene was as he was contemplating that he might not be as straight as he had always assumed, he applied the scientific method to himself as a means to validate, test, and prove his theory.

i liked the relationship between Byron and Marcus, but I just had a lot of problems reconciling the various descriptions and reactions that Byron had. I also exepcted that with a title like Reverb in a series about musicians would have more music in it.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Again this was a wonderful addition to Harper's "Rhythm and Rhyme" series. Byron is a slightly rigid rich gay boy and loves music but has been forced to take a major in marketing if he wanted to take one in music. Double majors has left him so busy sometimes he doesn't know if he can get it all done. It leaves him anxious most of the time. Marcus is a straight boy recently transferred to Beasley, he is very shy and suffers from social anxiety. This story starts with a bump...literally, and the two are drawn to each other. How the two help each other mature as they seek out what they really want to do with their lives, is a lovely romance of finding ones sexuality, love, hot sex that builds slowly and finding their HEA. There is some angst as they both struggle, especially Byron, as he approaches graduation and getting a job. His violin gives him peace as Marcus rediscovers why he went into biology. Good story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

This is a lovely short coming of age story.
Marcus has transferred in to Beasley and is trying to find his way. He seems quite introverted and finds it hard to make friends.
Byron is in his final year and feeling under pressure from his parents and the coursework. His release is in his music and we see him playing with Zander from book 1.
One day Marcus literally bumps into Byron and covers him in hot coffee. This is the beginning of Marcus' realisation that perhaps he wasn't as straight as he thought he was.
We follow Byron and Marcus as they grow in themselves and together.
This is quite well written and we see characters from the previous book being included although the book is perfect as a standalone.

Charming

It's great when a character from a previous book, who wasn't particularly likeable, is one of the main characters of a story and is not only redeemed to likability, but becomes one of your favorite characters written by the author. Brianne is that character for me! It helps that the story of her becoming the nicer, more open, less snippy and sarcastic person who wants to do her own thing in life and not follow the path her parents expect of her, all because of bumping into a shy, introverted biology major who was so afraid of social interaction that she pretty much prevented herself from being able to have friends, let alone recognize that she was interested in women, is just about as charmingly sweet as any story of young lovers could hope to be!

Got ARC for a honest review.

I was so happy Byron got his story. I loved it. I loved the characters and the chemistry between them. I thought the story was well written and had a nice steady pace to keep me reading smoothly along. I also loved the happy ending it had. I will be stalking the authors shelves for their books for a long time. Can't wait to read more.

Thank you for letting me read your book.

People can change

A very sweet story about Marcus and Byron. Marcus had socializing issues and Byron had to learn how to just let go. The two of them fit perfectly. Marcus had to figure out who he was attracted to as well since he found himself wanting to kiss Byron. They take you through their journey of finding true happiness.

I recommend this book.

Great writing. Excellent control of the separate character voices, even as they grew. Not every author has always done so. It's difficult at times. Nice storyline. Sometimes complicated is overrated.

Wonderful!

This is a well written story about a chance meeting, an accident, that leads to enduring love. Literally running into each other, Byron and Marcus strike up a friendship that eventually becomes more. The characters are well developed and the storyline flows easily along, drawing the reader in. Put this book on your must read list.

Loved it!

What I enjoyed most about this one was how the author had really incorporated Rosebridge and some characters we all love plus a couple I haven't met yet. It keeps you in the community created and makes it easier to stay attached.

The right person

Can bring anyone out of their shell. I love how they met, so adorably clumsy and how they instantly clicked. Really enjoyed it.

Another sweet, quick and easy read by Harper Logan. Bryce and Marcus are quite the pair, and I enjoyed reading about their relationship as they went from friend's to lovers!

I really like this author. I have yet to read something that I don't like from Harper Logan.
It is enjoyable reconnecting with characters from previous books, both active in the book and when they're only mentioned in passing.
The college experience is referenced only by the amount of work they are having to put in to complete their courses (I like that), which leaves them with almost no time to have a personal/romantic interest in their lives.
There is an immediate connection between them but it's not “Instalove, just add water”. Lol.
The spicy scenes are well done and the emotional connection was apparent without being overly sweet.
I only gave it fours stars because I needed more between their meeting and the HEA. There is a period of time between that is referenced but not really explained in a relationship progression type of way. I know there was more relationship stuff going on during that time, but I wanted to read about it. I also felt that the character development needed more attention.
I look forward to reading more from this author.

I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.

Byron initially appears to be a bit of a jerk in Tuned, but we saw a softer side of him after he put his ego on the back burner. In this book, we finally get to see inside his daily life and the struggles he has balancing his own happiness with what his parents expect of him. Marcus just recently transferred to Beasley and is having a hard time making friends. He is quiet, nervous, and straight--or so he thinks. Marcus accidentally runs into Byron and spills his coffee. He throws out the idea to take him out to lunch to make up for it, and a friendship begins that slowly builds to more.

I liked watching Marcus come to terms with his feelings for Byron. He opened up more, and allowed himself to experience things without any negativity associated with questioning his sexuality. It was portrayed positively and encouragingly. Marcus and Byron brought out great things in each other, and were a great couple.
