These books should be read in the correct order

In the twelfth installment of the Matt Drake series, the SPEAR team battle impossible odds deep in the Amazon rainforest. Learning that a significant terrorist’s arms bazaar is being attended not only by many of the world’s most wanted men but by the CIA and a "special guest" too, they must infiltrate, observe, and then do what they do best.

With all the ongoing interactions, personal complexities and camaraderie that characterize the Drake series, The Last Bazaar introduces a diabolical plot where wealthy terrorists plan and pay for new styles of devastation, where government agencies pursue secret agendas, and where the team race against the clock to shut it all down.

Amidst nuclear threat, conspiracy, local predators and intense action, Matt Drake and his team fight to maintain and protect the world’s future in a hostile environment . . . from within the planet’s worst gathering of madmen.

The Last Bazaar - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Imagine you couldn't tell who was really ruling the country - if spies, double-agents and traitors out for self-empowerment and global control by corrupt and subversive rule were the 'power behind the throne' of the most powerful Western governments and leaders' decisions and actions?
Then imagine a covert, POTUS-linked team of dedicated, loyal and fearless agents, known only as SPEAR, gathered at a secret HQ, ready to jet off into conflict, whether small or (as usual) large and deadly threat, at a moment's notice from Crouch, their command liaison or Hayden, their mission team leader and comms expert.*
Their Nemesis and opponent in The Last Bazaar, David Leadbeater's triumphant 12th book in his Matt Drake series, is Ramses, whom they've outwitted, outfought, but never captured, before - back to cause mayhem and madness with a wealthy terrorist or megalomaniac's wet-dream of a market place where every evil and self-aggrandising fantasy can come true - if the price is right!
Chief enemy is Tyler Webb; having left the Pythians to fade into oblivion and moving away from both them and his inner group the Novensiles or 'New Gods', he comes seeking directions and a 'user manual' in the form of a scroll at the Bazaar, determined to use his archaeological skills and army of mercenaries garnered through the bizarre marketplace, deep in the Amazon Jungle, to obtain the ultimate weapon of all, to threaten world powers with Armageddon and become all-powerful, using the clues to where the gods left artefacts and tombs where they have lain untouched through millennia. Can SPEAR triumph again?
How have their personal lives and issues changed the way they relate to each other?
What happens at the Last Bazaar? Does Ramses destroy the team - or is it the other way about?

Get your copy of the excellent The Last Bazaar, (Matt Drake #12), by David Leadbeater, to continue the adventure that began in Book 1 (and is now on Book 24) - you'll be hooked from the first page!

*Led by the magnificent Yorkshireman Matt Drake, his lover and lieutenant the irresistible Alicia Myles, her 'rival' and often the object of Alicia's honeyed 'barbs', the Ninja goddess, Mai Kitano, Swedish super-soldier Torsten Dahl, his would-be lover and new member of SPEAR, (Bridget Mc)Kenzie - like Mai, a katana and MMA queen, Yorgi the self-tormented Russian thief, Hayden Jaye, the team's elected leader and command genius and her on again, off again lover, massive Hawaiian with a soft centre (in the right circumstances), Mano Kinimaka, ex-dom high-class hooker 'Nightshade'and IT geek, Lauren Fox and her lover Smyth (whose embarrassing - to him - first name is revealed to be Lance(elot), [as in King Arthur's Queen Guinevere's knightly lover and betrayer of his chivalric code], which the others have huge fun in teasing him about, til things start to get fiery

Yet more flat out action

I'm really enjoying the adventures of the SPEAR team my only "Complaint" being I feel physically drained such is the level of action, yes the stories and action, the physical punishment are over the top but this is a STORY and (For me at least) an enjoyable "Boys own" romp of almost biblical proportions.
If you love action packed story lines then Matt Drake and the SPEAR team are for you!

Really not for the faint hearted. Lots of blood and gore. An exceptional book. One you stay up all night reading. The plot was well thought out and the continuity was great. There were several times where words were left out and in some cases entire sentences should have been inserted. It was still a fantastic book. If these ideas come to you in dreams, I would be afraid to go to sleep. Keep up the great writing.

Fast paced but....

Another good story but I tend to tire of 10 pages of hand to hand combat descriptions. But it is hard to put down.

Matt Drake and his SPEAR team are, literally, up to their backsides in caimans, deep in the South American jungle at a major weapons bazaar. Everything and anything is for sale, including suitcase nukes. Trying to blend in with terrorists, illegal arms dealers, and a few megalomaniacs puts the team to the test, time and again. While the team grows in stature every time they take down a potential threat to the world as we know it, they are growing in numbers to the point of being unwieldy. How does it all end? Or, does it all end?

Well we have hit the twelfth book in this series and honestly David's writing and ideas are just getting stronger by the book. We find Drake and his friends heading deep into the Amazon Jungle to track down Tyler Webb but come across a lot more unsavoury characters, and Alicia meets up with an old foe. A real fast paced page turner leaving you panting for more. Well David keep up the amazing work.

Matt Drake and the SPEAR team return, this time on the offensive as they prepare to gate crash the biggest arms party in history. Slight change in direction in this book, as the team are not just playing catch up. Again the team dynamic is spot on, although with such a large team, it is hard to give them all the page time that they deserve. Each character could have its own spin off, the mad Swede is coming soon!!!

Lead Up to Armaggedon

The Last Bazaar is incredibly exciting and surprising. All our favorite bad guys and all our favorite heroes jumbled together. Can the good guys triumph or have they reached the end of their ropes, some or all? You must find out for yourself. What a ride!

Loved it

I chose this rating because the storyline didn't drag. I like reading about the relationship between drake, mai and Alicia but I'm glad you don't dwell on it. It's got action and suspense which I greatly enjoy.
