If you want to read gripping stories that don’t rely on sex, swearing, and graphic violence—you’ve come to the right place!
This collection represents the first six issues of short stories featured in Deep Magic e-zine: June 2016, August 2016, October 2016, December 2016, February 2017, and April 2017. It includes stories by authors such as: Jeff Wheeler, Charlie N Holmberg, Carrie Anne Noble, Brendon Taylor, John D Brown, Eldon Thompson, TE Bradford, Michael J Sullivan, Caitlyn McFarland, and DK Holmberg (just to name a few).
This rich collection of short fiction would be a great addition to any fan of excellent fantasy and science fiction.
Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jeff Wheeler took an early retirement from his career at Intel in 2014 to write full-time. He is a husband, father of five, and a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jeff lives in the Rocky Mountains.
The bad news - the Deep Magic First Collection (link, above) does not contain the excerpts of new novels by the likes of Jeff Wheeler (Dec), Charlie N. Holmberg (Jun), Emily R. King (Apr), Erin Summerill (Feb) and Bethany Wiggins (also Feb) that are present in the individual issues.
The good news - you will get, at a fantastic price, at least one short story from roughly half of the authors above whose new book exceprts are not included in this Collection, plus great, clean reading short stories from a host of both up and coming and now established authors.
Personal favorites, for a variety of reasons, included here are many:
"The Beesingers Daughter" and "The Apothecant" (Jun) "Her Glimmering Facade", "Thorns", and (brief) "Gretel and Hansel" "The Dragon between Worlds", "The Wizard's Granddaughter" "Salt & Water" (Oct) "Imperial Ghosts" and "to the Last" (Dec) "Waracabra Tigers" and "Pirate Readers" (Feb) "Between Earth and Exile", "Autumn at the Dragon's Cave", and "the Price of Healing" (Apr)
Jeff Wheeler, Charlie N Holmberg, D.K. Holmberg, Beth Powers, Brendon Taylor, Carrie Ann Noble, James Van Pelt, Gwendolyn Clare, and others you likely would never discover but for this. What's not to like?
I really enjoy the stories in this book! There is a wide variety of Science Fiction and Fantasy stories that are very engaging! It is wonderful to be able to read stories from such talented authors and they are all very well done! I especially loved the stories buy Jeff wheeler, and DK Holmberg. That said, there wasn't one story there that was not great. I think anyone would enjoy this anthology.
I am not sure if I read and and every story, though I know I've read some twice. but I am marking it as done because I have read well over 95%. I really liked the selections for the most part, obviously some more than others and given my leanings, fantasy more than the sci-fi. Good mix.
