The Five Brothers Next Door

Rate this book
The Hunter brothers are back in town, and all five of them have got their eyes on one lucky girl.

I've always had a crush on the boys next door. I used to peek from my bedroom window when they were playing in their backyard. I didn't even care that they never looked my way.

Now that we're all grown up and they're home for a visit, something's different. The way they stare at me sends a thrill down my spine. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they're checking me out and they like what they see.

But that's insane, right? There's no way the five gorgeous brothers are into me.

I try to forget about them, but we keep running into one another in this small town. One night, the Hunter brothers even save me from my harassing ex.

I'm in trouble. It's getting harder and harder to ignore the wicked glint in their eyes, or the way they linger when we touch . . .

When they whisper in my ears, telling me all the naughty things they want to do to me, I can't deny it any longer. I want them, too. All five of them.

It's wrong. Oh, so wrong.

But five alpha, protective, hot-as-sin men? What chance do I have of resisting the Hunter brothers?

This is not my first reverse Harem book and it won't be my last. I had to give Nikki 5 stars for stepping out of her box and trying something new. I think she did a great job with this story. You have everything you would want from a story like this, 5 sexy brothers, one beautiful strong woman that can hopefully handle them, an upset mother, and a crappy ex-boyfriend. This is a great read and I did really enjoy it. I voluntarily read an advance copy for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, Ava's parents are incredibly strict and bigoted and for some reason do not like the Hunter family

However the Hunter boys like Ava and when her ex starts causing trouble they want to do all they can to help

This is a fantastic story, I really enjoyed each of the guys personalities and how they interact with Ava, the storyline was great and I did not want to put the book down, a very enjoyable read

Good

Good but short. I really enjoy that the guys don’t care what other think but they are almost to blah about it. I like that Ava worried about it a bit before deciding to go for it.

Brothers.

This one was okay. It was a little drawn out in some places. I did like the characters though and the extra little drama.

This was not good.

I've read better romances on Wattpad. And considering there are FIVE relationships and the author couldn't even develop ONE?!

TL:DR at the bottom.

*Deep breath*

Okay, let's break this down.

Characters:
Ava (our heroine) was fine. A little cookie cutter "oh I'm sooo ugly but all the boys love me" type, but she was fine. Her chapters were probably the best written. Like they actually explained her thoughts/feelings in a mostly coherent manner, and actually moved the plot forward.

Then there were the brothers. I could list them but honestly I just don't care. They're five extremely successful, rich, family-oriented, sexy brothers who come in to sweep Ava off her feet and fix all her problems. They all have the same personality and I had soooo much difficulty telling whose chapter I was in because they all sound the same and talk the same and think the same god damn things.

Jason was the ex-boyfriend who was a creepy abuser. I have never been in an abusive relationship so I can't say how realistic this portrayal was, but I appreciate how his behaviour was called out as abusive in one of the brothers' POVs.

Ava's parents: The dad was barely in this but both parents were pretty terrible.

There were some teacher friends as well, but they barely warrant mentioning.

Plot:
The five Hunter brothers return to their small home town for Thanksgiving (2 months early) and they all immediately fall in love with Ava and she immediately falls in love with all of them and begins a relationship. Ava's abusive ex-boyfriend sues her, and her parents disapprove of any thing that they don't consider "normal", while Ava and the Hunter brothers have a lot of sex.

Writing:
The writing was not good. Especially the chapters from the brothers' POVs.
There's an overabundance on TELL not SHOW, except for the sex scenes that are all show. And all the telling in this book is repeated so. Many. Times.
For example, Ava talks about how good her life is since she met the brothers, and then repeats that multiple times throughout. It just drags everything so much more.
The romance is also sooo insta-lovey. Like she meets three of the five brothers after dinner one night and by the next day she's in love with all of them and like three days later they're all having gang bangs and saying "I love you". Like you JUST MET each other THREE FUCKING DAYS AGO, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE MAKING HER A CEO OF YOUR COMPANY?!
The author is so bad at showing that (although I agree with the morals of the story) all the morals are pretty much just told to the audience. Like just shoved in your face. *flashing lights* ABUSE IS BAD *Siren noises* YOUR HAPPINESS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY *Aggressively shouts in your face* YOU SHOULDN'T CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU AND JUST LIVE YOUR LIFE IN A WAY THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

Before I even managed to read this book, I was wondering if it even existed. Like people have reviewed this book but AbeBooks didn't have it, Book Depository didn't have it, Kobo didn't have it, even KINDLE didn't have it. I finally found an online version, but like I just don't care anymore.

TL;DR: The moral of the story is fine, the rest is shit.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was an interesting read for me. I didn't know how I would feel about reading a romance with 6 members in the primary relationship. I was nervous I wasn't going to like it. But it was REALLY well written and very entertaining. I was concerned that the intimate sex scenes were going to be difficult to read and make the book less enjoyable, but they were beautiful, sexy scenes. It was interesting getting to know the different personalities of the 5 brothers and very cool to watch them each engage and connect with Ava. The only true complaint I have about this book is the many different POV's of the book. It was often hard to remember which of the brothers' POV I was reading. I think it would have been more successful had it been written from a 3rd person POV or just from Ava's POV. Other than that, I have no complaints. I really liked the fact that we got to go back to Ashbourne and see Jessica, Sarah, and even Tony again. (Jessica is from Nikki Chase's book "Stripped" as is Tony - he's her best friend - and Sarah is from Nikki Chase's book "My Brother's Friend The Dom") Obviously, if you're offended by group sex scenes then this book is not for you. But should you want to explore the more wild world of group sex without losing out on the romance of a good romance book, then this is a great book to take a chance on.

[Spoiler Alert]

Okay so this is a DNF for me. I made it 25% of the way through, and concluded that there was no hope of it getting better.

First off, the author needs to learn what a “Prologue” is. The “Prologue” given in the book is what is called a “teaser”. A Prologue would give us a quick look into the past that would set the foundation for what was to come. Our author put a snippet of a future chapter as the prologue 🤦‍♀️.

This book would have been a whole star better if it’d had a proper prologue that perhaps showed the MC interacting with the guys when they were younger. SOMETHING to make their connection somewhat believable. Instead we get a quick introduction to the characters without any actual character or relationship building. No explanation as to why the brothers share women. For a contemporary, non-paranormal book I expect a reason for their decision. However we received none of that and a “love at first sight” incident. Literally got the “I love yous” at 25% of the book.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the grammar was decent. However this author needs to learn the basics before trying again (AKA prologue!).

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** This was my first reading this trope & I wasn't completely disappointed. Definitely a fantasy & unrealistic so if that's not your thing, I wouldn't recommend it. Though I do give points to the author for writing out of her comfort zone! Seemed like Ava was too meek to be taking part in a harem with five different personalities, two of which could be absolute hotheads. Did like seeing former characters make an appearance. Good storyline & pacing, and sexy scenes will make you want to add the Hunter men as your latest book boyfriends.

I received a complimentary of this book and yes I did purchase a copy before reading it.

I have read a few of Ms. Chase’s books before and enjoyed them so I purchased a copy of this. I generally don’t do erotica but this book intrigued me at least the premise did. I was confused from the start with the prologue. It sounded like I was coming into the middle of the story already. Will I was a scene from a later chapter. HUH?! Also I couldn’t figure out the logistics of the people placement in the sex scenes. Also I thought it was a HEA story but the end sounded more like a HFN which I don’t care for. But I did enjoy some aspects of the story so I gave it 3 stars.

3 Stars of Brotherly Love

Well I just jump right in. This was a cutesy love story about a girl and the five neighbor boys all grown up. I'm not above having a smutty dream about five brothers but it's not really realistic. I don't care how close brothers are they never really want to share. But it was a cute little fictional story line. This is on the Kindle Unlimited list so if you have a chance to read it's cute.

A for ever love.

I did enjoy the characters and the story plot . It was believable and well written. I do have a problem with the missing pages. Quite a few of the pages were blank. That makes it a little hard to follow the story and occasionally I had to guess at what happened . keep writing and get on the editors about those blanks.

Had a lot of promise, but was too simplistic and unrealistic in terms of character development. The main character moved to fast for her personality, and the emotional development was just too simplistic to be believable. But I gave three stars because I love anything reverse harem.

When I downloaded the book I was super excited to see it was really long then the story ended at 30%. This is very frustrating from the readers perspective. A little bonus material at the end is cool but 70% of the published book is ridiculous. And the story was okay.

Soo much better than I expected or hoped....

Soo much better than I expected or hoped, between the cover and the books I saw it lumped in with I thought this was probably this was just another lots and lots of sex books w/just enough story to say it had one ..... I'd seen soo many of the ones were that type, thin plot or just enough to serve as an excuse for lots of meaningless sex, that is only really good if your looking for something to help you get hot while you do other things... sadly too many out there in the RH and or menage sub genre, even ones w/more plot I'm sad to say..
But Not. This !!!
While I have a few niggles, mostly minor , this was a wonderful story w/depth that made me smile and wish it would never end..
( this is only a review of the cover story (the 5 brothers ,that's the story I got the book for) once the story got going I found myself loving the sense of family with the h quickly found ( once some easily avoidable misunderstandings were gotten out of the way)...
It was beautiful, and I found myself badly wishing I were her for that alone ... while I dream to find just one man who I fit just right w/and happily gives me all the love and attention I crave, I know what it's like to be a lonely only child w/ppl gave more criticism than love,to drown in elf doubt and need the kind of attention Ava gets from these men... that's why even if one man is my goal, two who's love and romantic and sexual, attention is mine and mine and mine alone ,sighs, is my fantasy ....
Five ,five is awesome and amazing ? But I'd only really want to live that particular dream if I could go live in a paranormal romance as a shifter or some paranormal where I could have 100's of years and lots of extra energy for them all, otherwise a two is good for me ;)
Ok, minor niggles, Why does she have to be soo dang young ?
I mean 21 and she gets 5 men ? Granted I was happy to see Ava matures in the story , changing, becoming more secure in herself the more secure she gets in the guys and their feelings for her..
That's great but why couldn't the guys just be a little closer in age and Ava be at least say 25 or soo and start off at least a bit more grown up ?
I think it also would have been more fun if the guys would have or could have told her what they were thinking and wanting a littler earlier than they did, was kinda silly to get all sexy w/her one minute and to back off the next , sighs because as annoyed as I was w/Ava sneaking off like a scared rabbit after , I knew I'd have been hurt too and probably done the same thing...
I would have loved just a bit more build up w/Ava getting reacquainted one on one before they all practically move in w/her, but again I soo loved the little family they formed..
And the times where Nathan is cooking dinner,Mason and Ollie are helping ( or trying to) Ava grade papers ,Liam is working on his laptop and Noah is observing it all and letting us see, that soo normal kinda everyday scene but to me I sound it beautiful and I soo wanted to be Ava in that moment surrounded by the love of these men and the family they'd already seem to have made..
Which is what made my last point bother me soo much...
They form this wonderful beautiful loving supportive sexy family very easily and yet we get to me is a rather HFN ending..
I mean what else can you call it when they are living in San Francisco one of the most liberal cities in the U.S. and they are still hiding what they are and even though she might not be able to marry all 5 should could marry at least one of them and have a commitment ceremony w/the others ,or at least be engaged to them all or something ...
But having none of that and still hiding it all ?
I can't say I liked the ending... but I would highly recommend this story and after I read it in KU m I bought it to make sure I could read it again and again ;)
Thank You Ms.Chase !!!
If you ever write more like this or even menage , I definitely want to know ... I'm sure your other work is good , RH/Menage is just where my head is atm ;)

The Five Brothers Next Door is a light, sweet and steamy reverse harem story. Ava is a 21 year old high school teacher. She recently broke up with her controlling boyfriend, who equally controlling parents adore. After another strained weekly dinner with her parents they run into three of the five Hunter brother, their former next door neighbors.
The Hunter brothers have come home to spend the next eight weeks leading up to Thanksgiving with their parents. All successful in their own right, they now work together running a highly successful business. They are now to then point they can take some time away.
Liam, Mason and Ollie run into their former disapproving neighbors their first night back in town. They can't believe how Ava turned out. All three are attracted to her. The following morning with the twins Noah and Nathan they run into Ava again. The twins see the effect Ava has on their brothers and are intrigued. They have all shard women, but maybe Ava is the one they have been looking for. The women all five could share, and maybe something more.
Loved the Hunter brothers. Each chapter is told by a different person, so you get a good sense of each brothers personality. All five are likeable. Ava is a sweet and big hearted women. While her parents are awful, the men's parents were so sweet and open minded , just wanted their boys to be happy.
Loved the cameos of Jessica and Tony from Stripped and Sarah from My Brothers Friend The Dom. They made great friends for Ava.

A real-deal bro-mance in the making...

I received an Advance Reader Copy for The Five Brothers Next Door written by Nikki Chase and voluntarily reviewed this book. At twenty-one, Ava Green has already wasted three years too many on her controlling ex Joseph. When she runs into her her neighbors, all five hot and handsome, but she is now cautious when it comes to men.

When the Hunter brothers, Liam, Mason, the twins, Nathan and Noah, and Ollie spy Ava in a cafe, they were all riveted by her, so they very quickly grasped at the only logical excuse to see her, they needed a tour guide, because it has been eight years since they've last been home. Now back for a brief time to visit their parents and to regroup for their medical-care insurance company, they focus on Ava as their new obsession. But suddenly, them being together means that there is more hanging over their heads besides an ex that won't let go and Ava's parents uncompromising, small-town mentalities - perhaps this whole thing was just too complicated from the get-go! What Ava doesn't realize, however, is that these brothers sure can handle it all with her and are quite willing to use all their skill sets to do so, because they want her to remain by their sides.

Each Hunter brother has a voice in this story, and it was good for me as a reader to be able to get a real sense of how and what they all really thought, and how they all rallied behind Ava and her situation.

My rating for this book is 4 3/4 stars...I wasn't sure if I was going to truly enjoy this book but I found that I really did! We meet Ava who is 21 yrs old and a high school teacher, trying to live up to her parent's expectations although she doesn't agree with them but giving into them is easier than living with their opinions! Her parents (especially her mom) are pushing her back at her ex boyfriend Joseph. He is nasty, controlling, verbally abusive and not someone she wants to be with! Enter the 5 Hunter boys and does her life change! They were her neighbors when she was a child and her mother does not like them at all and insists she stay away from all of them! Ava is drawn to them and enters into a relationship with not one of them but all FIVE of the brothers! They show her that life can be something different than hers was/is. They show her that they love unconditionally and want her for who she is! Reading from each of their prospective was a nice fun change and gave us insight into what they were thinking/wanting from each other and Ava. This book turned out to be a fun, sexy read. If you do not like multiple partners in a relationship then this book would not be for you. I want to thank Nikki Chase for giving me the opportunity to read this book in advance of it's release.

Ava is having a rough time with her parents. Her parents are very conservative and judgmental and want to control her life. She has broken up with the man they approved of because he was creepy and abused her but her parents wouldn't listen to her. One night while out with her parents for dinner, she runs into the son of their old next door neighbors. Ava had always had a crush on the Hunter brothers but she was too young for them to notice when they moved away. It surprised her how interested the man seemed in her now but she needed to hide her interest in him from her parents. Her parents disliked the Hunters due to the unusual relationship between the brothers' parents.
The Hunter brothers are five self made millionaires. They went into business together and made a fortune. Now they are back home for the first time in a long time to spend the holidays with their divorced with benefits parents. Their business life is a big success but their personal life has been a failure. The brothers have made a pact to conserve their fortune, instead of each marrying and having kids to split their fortune among they will find and share one woman who will have one child. They just haven't found the perfect woman to take on all five of them. However as each one meets Ava, each brother is very attracted to her. Could she be the one they are looking for?

Great book with a sexy RH story and bonuses

This was actually one of the more enjoyable "book with bonus stories" I've ever read. So often the bonuses just take up space and aren't worth reading. Not so in this case. Both "Again" and "Guilty" we're great stories. I really liked "Guilty" and Emily and Cole's crazy story.
But the main draw was the fantastic "Five Brothers Next Door". It was a great RH book with relatable characters and forbidden fantasies and the judging, gossipy, prejudice of a small town. Ava actually grew up next door to the five Hunter brothers, Liam, Ollie, Mason, Nathan and Noah. Although she was younger than they were, she still appreciated their good looks even as a child. But they have all grown up and matured. They boys all moved away and built a hugely successful business and Ava is a teacher at the local high school - although she's not fulfilled with her career choice.
When the brothers come back to visits their parents, the instant attraction between Ava and all the brothers is almost instant. But they have a lot to overcome and they face many challenges. Good thing the brothers all like to share...that's one less problem to get past.
Fun sexy book! Thoroughly enjoyed it! I'll definitely be reading more of Nikki Chase's books!

Ava, under her parents watchful and judgemental eye, is trying hard to move on after breaking it off with her abusive psycho ex.
While the parents and the creepy psycho don't make it easy for the strong, sassy, ambitious 21-year-old teacher in the small-minded town, she still has does not give up all hope!
Especially when she has been reintroduced to her the Hunter boys, the five neighbors boys turned hot men- who lived next to her parent's house, whom she secretly watched from her window growing up.
All, home for an extended Holiday vacation, they want to spend some time with Ava, all of them. together.
Her parents are disgusted just from the conversation, but Ava is anything but- she wants nothing more than to see, Hunter, Liam, Ollie, Mason, and Noah- it may be "taboo" for this town, and she might be extremely nervous- but she cannot help herself!
Oh, my what a sweet, sensual, heartwarming, make me want to take out some parents reverse harem story!
That was not what I anticipated at all, but I absolutely loved this check out from reality swoon me to the moon tale!
Nikki Chase caught me by surprise with this one!

I was a little skeptical going in to reading this book about 5 men and 1 woman but WOW WOW WOW ! Nikki Chase delivers a story with all 6 POV's beautifully w/o skipping a beat in the story and me wanting all 5 Hunter brother's for myself. It wasn't all about steamy scenes, which were oh my steamy, melting, left me panting scenes, it was a story that was flawless, that flowed perfectly with an actual plot that kept me reading. All about a woman, Ava, who was raised by parents who were more worried about how they look to the small town and about gossiping than they were about their daughter and her happiness. Ava who finally breaks free from her parents criticism and a controlling ex who wants her back finds happiness, acceptance, love and a family with the brothers.
I loved this book and all the characters, Liam, Mason, Ollie, Nathan, Noah and Ava, all with separate personalities but together they work. Even though there was drama all around them, it didn't affect them as a unit, they stuck together, worked out the problems as a team which only made them stronger and in my opinion made the story that much more better.

Loved it! The story was very fluid and it really isn’t 700 pages because that includes the bonus content. The story focuses on Ava Green who is a high school teacher and is a run of the mill girl that happens to have parents that may have pushed her to be with a terrible ex who ends up seeing her to pay back all the money ever spent in their relationship. While at a dinner she meets the boys next door that she had a crush on for all her life, the Hunter brothers.

From there we see them fall for Ava and she falls for them just as hard. The author made this relationship appear super fluid which deserves a lot of props. The men Ollie, Nathan, Noah, Mason and Liam all form their own bonds with Ava and it is very cute to watch. I had to admit my favorite part was Nathan and Noah, the twins being identified with ease by Ava. She knew who was who without a problem and it made her a lot more likable that she truly loved them all. In the end the men take her back t San Francisco and make a life for themselves since they run their own business. Cute story but with there was a pregnancy in an epilogue.

I really enjoy menage and reverse harems have become quite popular. Most of the ones I have read have been sci-fi/paranormal and it was fun to see a contemporary romance with the theme.

The author does a good job not rushing it all and giving each of the characters a chance to really develop. They may be brothers, and even twins in one case, but they are very different in terms of their personal styles. Sometimes the authors don't do as good a job distinguishing the characters and kind of rush it all.

Ava tries to be a good girl and make her parents happy but it has not left her happy. She has a miserable ex and a mother that loves to look down on others. The brothers bring her fun and a chance for some real happiness. I loved how they flirted with her and made her feel really desired for the first time.

The brothers would be hard to resist. They are successful and quite charming. They know how to seduce but really mean what they say. They want to keep her safe and happy and I liked how protective of her they were.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

4.5 Stars! There is Ava who is a young high school teacher. She recently broke up with her ex that she was with for three years. He was very controlling and verbally abusive to her. Her mom loved him and thinks she should get back together with him. Then there are the Hunter Brothers who lived next door to her when she was growing up. They are back for an extended vacation. They all work together in their company that is doing very well. When they first see Ava there is just something about her. Ollie thinks it was love at first sight. Will she agree to be in a relationship with all five of them? That is something they have always wanted? Will it affect her life outside of her home? Will they go the unconventional route and see what happens? You'll need to read the book to find out. This was a good escape from reality for a bit. It was good to that the book gave varying characters picture so you could see the whole story.

I received this book for my honest review. The different books into one was a pleasant surprise upon receiving the book I didn’t realise it wasn’t one story. But 3and a half with the bonus material.

It starts off with the hunters and what a way to start. This book consists of 5 brothers and one female with strict parents. I won’t say any more but it’ll keep you on your toes.

Again is is about reconnecting with a love lost and broken. What happened in the past and how some things are worth fighting for no matter what the consequences.

Guilty is scandalous in a lot of ways. However you really get involved with both characters and can’t judge them to harshly for there flaws. It comes across as real life to an extent and not just a story. I liked it, kept me on my toes.

The book ends with a teasing extract from Knocked up.

Fair play to the author she can writing sizzling, tantalising, scandalous books that keep you engrossed throughout the books. They all have a different tone to the story which is also a breath of fresh air with the variety.

Nikki has done it again. I loved this book. I laughed out loud a few times and could relate to them being in a small town with all the gossip. It made me angry for them the way the town treated to guys and it was all because their parents got divorced and then got along better after that. And the there are Ava's parents who always told her to "keep her head down and stay out of trouble" so that no one would talk about her and make her look bad therefore making them look bad and being the topic of the gossip mill. Ava's parents would rather she go back to her abusive ex than be by herself or with one of the Hunter brothers. What are they going to do when they find out she is with all five of them together? Will it be just a fling for a couple month while they are home for the holiday?
