In the final book in this series, London Carter has planned the perfect surprise vacation for Dawn Luke. They’re heading to the Smoky Mountains National Park, where he’ll drop down to one knee in front of Abrams Falls and propose to her. However, when a grisly discovery is made in a small community within Magnolia Parish, they’re forced to return home to investigate.
They soon learn that the victim, Kathleen Bertrand, has been killed in the most heinous manner imaginable, and they delve into her past looking for anything that might help explain what happened. They locate some skeletons in her closet and, while one of them might be motive enough for murder, the brutal nature of the crime doesn't seem to fit.
As Dawn and London drive to the Gulf Coast town of Dark Sands, Mississippi to follow-up on a piece of evidence they discovered in Kathleen’s car, Deputy Abraham Wilson is called to investigate the disappearance of another Plymouth East woman. Fearing the cases are connected and the second victim might suffer the same fate as the first, they work nearly nonstop to bring the killer to justice.
No one knows if they’ll locate the victim in time to save her, but it’s clear London won’t be dropping down to one knee anytime soon--unless it’s to take a shot.

Never disappointed with this series. I love London and Dawn. And the plot always moves at a fast pace and holds your interest. If you've never read this author before you're in for a real treat!
No one did it, but everyone is a suspect! There are so many secrets and lies in this book, I don’t know how Bourg kept them all straight!
What a great way to end a series!! The sixth, and final book of BJ Bourg’s London Carter series, is everything you could want in a series finale. I don’t give spoilers, or even a summary.
The London Carter series has covered several different types of murders, but Blood Rise has taken murder mysteries to a new level. Without being too graphic, and not graphic enough, Bourg has managed to give the readers the perfect amount description to keep you reading.
Bourg did not hold back in Book Six of this series. He maintained character development, perfect dialogue, accurate information regarding law enforcement procedures, and a storyline that keeps the reader engaged throughout. I feel like Bourg covered so much in one book. There are so many major points, but also some minor points that create such a great read.
If you are a fan of crime mysteries or crime suspense, do yourself a favor and check out The London Carter series. Even if you aren’t a big reader, and you are just a fan of all things crime, you will not be disappointed!
Amazing job on this series Mr. Bourg! Next up...Clint Wolf Mysteries.
It's somehow worse to read about death by crucifixion on Easter weekend, but that was the luck of my draw. I’ll just say the crimes were every bit as heinous as they sound, and more crimes were revealed during the course of the investigation. It was a sad tale, for sure.
No one comes off looking good in this book. It seems all the players are adulterers (not that anyone should be kidnapped, tortured, and killed for their infidelities) and those who are most righteous are the greatest sinners of them all. Suspects abound, and unraveling the clues is satisfying though disturbing.
I’m just glad this happy ending is happier than most. It was a necessary bright spot in an otherwise dark and disturbing novel.
This was a really good story and it was a mystery who the killer was right up to almost the very end. Bourg, the author, pulled out another great mystery and this ends London Carter Mysteries for now. Hopefully B.J. is busy as a beaver writing a new Lincoln Carter Series...I recommend this book and I am waiting for the next New Mystery to be released.
Another amazing book from BJ Bourg. I don’t remember any series where each book kept my attention all the way through. And so many in the series. Out of 33 Clint Wolf books and 9 London Carter books, only 3-4 were a little slow for me, but still totally readable. I am going to really miss being able to immediately hook up with the next book knowing that it will be another really good story. After some time passes I know I will re-read these books.
What a great series! I’m actually sad this is the last. Another page turner. So much suspense! Clues that seemed to fit then a twist! Kept me guessing till the end “who done it.” And I love the way references and people were brought in from previous stories! I recommend this whole series!
This series is fantastic!! Love the characters. There is so much action and the twists and turns keeps me from putting these books down. I can’t wait until the next one comes out.
This is the second series I have read by this author. His books aren't predictable, have excellent characters and authentic police procedures. I have found the information about sniper training interesting.
Excellent, fast-paced thriller. Like the previous one, Elevation, the identity of the actual perpetrator of the murders was completely surprising. Waiting to read the sixth in the London Carter series.
Bourg's writing is crisp, believable, and suspenseful. The plot of this one is tight and the characters are well drawn. Heading straight on to the next one!
Very interesting and definitely not like any other tales from past reading. Same always with the stars of the tale but convoluted twists in the path of solutions to the murders. Good mix of religious bigotry and legal shenanigans.
Last book. Hope he continues . Good series of books..story line follows in order..characters grow and develop as expected. Will follow up by reading more tho author.
I like fast moving stories and this was one. We get to see what the writer want but not enough to give anything away. I would read more of these in the future.
SIGH! I LOVE THIS AUTHOR, AND I HAVE ALL OF THIS SERIES BUT ONE #7. I LOVE THE WAY HE WRITES HE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO SPIN A YARN. I HOPE HE WRITES MORE, I'M NOT TIRED OF READING'EM. ;D
While I wish it wasn’t ending as I really like London this is a great ending. The crimes are certainly not run of the mill and the rush to find the killer feels frenetic. The author does a good job conveying the sense of urgency.
London and Dawn are called back from the start of their vacation, where London has plans to propose, by the gruesome discovery of a body. They work the case, develop theories that keep getting shot down. Their frustration levels rise as a second woman goes missing, this one with a personal connection to Dawn.
There are some really unlikeable people in this book and some plausible red herrings. There is one glaring omission and I really felt it was not true to London and Dawn’s skills that they wouldn’t have picked up on it and checked it out. I kept yelling it at the book as I read!
The action that leads to the climax is exciting and you kinda hold your breath waiting for the end. The end of the book is sweet. Sad to say goodbye to these characters.
My main complaint throughout the series is the proofreading/editing errors. This author writes fine books but really needs better editing services. It’s distracting from the story and that’s a cardinal sin for me.
