A cop in love with a hacker? And conveniently she realizes their relationship was wrong in the same day the prequel begins? Nu-uh. Also, there were too many repetitions: things and feelings that were described over and over again. I do have to say though that finding the killer made me want to read more.

This is a short story about Jill Hunter, a Homicide Detective working on a murder case, Jill is a stickler for the rules and won’t allow her boyfriend Rory to hack into the emails to get a clue, she needs to get this done the right way, but things do not go as planned. Although this was a short story it did have a good storyline, but it was when she kept going on about Rory and how he is a criminal because he hacks into systems but she she is ok dating him, just didn’t work for me. Lets see what happens in the next short story instalment “The Letter” by Ari Rose
while reading "A New Beginning"-> I was thinking, I hate compare authors-> but if Janet Evanovich wrote crime fiction novels, she wouldn't do better than this!
Great first person account of a female homicide detective. Look forward to reading more. This was a gift book and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
I read it all (which isn't much--it's very short) because I wanted to see the serial killer caught. I just had a problem with a by-the-book homicide cop living with a criminal-computer hacker.
