When an innocent witch gets condemned to a death, Jackson Kross--a knight pledged to the Sovereign Empire--is forced to choose between love, loyalty and conscience.
Summary: Just a normal knight doing his internship in chivalric education, Jackson dreams of being a paladin one day--the wielder of a magical sword atop a horseback, defending the Sovereign Lands of the Otherworld from everything evil.
Only there were two problems: one, although he was deeply interested in magic, he wasn't naturally blessed with it. Two, though he was a knight trained in equestrianism, he preferred to ride dragons.
In a world hidden by Merlin's magic, ruled by Arthurian descendants and governed by a corrupt Triarchy; where domesticated dragons have lost their fire, and commoners, as well as the Nobles fears black magic; Jack is faced with a third problem--he gets ordered to arrest a deadly witch named Tess'lah, a renegade black magician who has returned from hiding.
Things get more daunting when he stumbles on a secret well kept for sixteen years. A girl unknown to magic gets branded as Tess'lah, and he needs to find the real witch before either of them ends up dead.
With the Witch Hunt on, Jack now needs to make daring choices between honor and justice, knighthood and treason--and above all, love and life. Will Jack survive the Hunt, and if he does, will he remain same? The Hunt has begun, and so has the wars of steel and magic.
Holy Cow! This was a good story, Jackson Kross is one hard luck-no luck knight in training. Given an assistant given an assignment, to take a sixteen year old into the other world for protection. The most awesome part is the last chapter.
I’d purchased this book a while back, but with all the distractions I’ve been having, with the holidays, reading the books on my TBReviewed pile, family, the holidays, my writing endeavors and the promoting I needed to do regarding the re-release of my debut novel; this book somehow got lost.
I’m sorry that I didn’t get to it sooner. The storyline is one in which the author A. J. Antony, has adeptly interwoven elements of things I’ve loved reading and watching movies. To start with you’ve got a child, Jackson, abandoned at birth, who has aspirations of becoming a knight; and like a knight he must undergo quests to prove his heroism and chivalry. While this might seem to be an arduous dream to reach, it’s made even more problematical due to his birthright of having been deserted by his parents.
Naturally, with two worlds in which the protagonists can travel to and from, you’re bound to wind up with someone, Tess'lah, who’s capable and determined of destroying at least one of them. And, of cause, there would be some sort of relic with which a world could ruled over by a single individual.
With Jackson discovering a highly protect secret, a secret capable of changing the destiny of both World-side and the Outerworld, he’s forced into making bold decisions. Does he choose decency and fairness, over knighthood and treachery, and how about throwing in love and life, to add to the confusion of what he must decide. In the end, the question that gets raised is whether or not Jackson will be able to outlive the extremely dangerous mission he’s chosen to undertake.
With the diversified elements in this story, sure to please a wide variety of readers as well as myself, I’ve decided to give Mr. Antony the 5 STARS he’s gotten from me.
Jackson Kross and the Dragon Girl is intricately woven, combining real world with fairy tail to arrive at an exciting universe that is unique in it's details. While I normally read quickly, sometimes missing minute details, I forced myself to go back to the beginning and slow down. The details are beautifully woven through the background and the characters are so well developed, they pop off the page! This was such a welcome and invigorating change! I'll be reading this again!
This book reminds me of the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini. Readers meet Jackson Kross. Jack is a young man who as a knight would love to be a Paladin. That title is earned by hard work and doing great deeds. Jack is on a journey to get closer to that special title when asked by Agent Kleiner Palmrock to help Shelly Sangsteiner, a girl in big trouble. The adventure of mystery and mysticism begins and readers are going to find themselves enjoying the journey.
Journeying with Jackson Kross in his adventures was fun.Once you get past the initial three chapters the story picks pace, effectively gluing our eyes on to the screen. The author had done a remarkable job in creating a parallel universe that blends with the real one incorporating historical facts in the plot. The painstaking effort he has taken in detailing the otherworld is commendable. Overall it provides a great read for fantasy lovers of all ages.
Very good book. I think any fan of Harry Potter, LOTR, or Eragon would enjoy it. That being said, I think it could be made even better with the help of a good editor. I found some things distracting or disruptive to the flow of the story, the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
A thrilling journey which just takes you to a different world... yet you feel that world is embedded in the world you are living in... I recommend this book to all those who love the fantasy genre... http://getbook.at/Kross
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
This book started out a little slow for me, but overall I think the author did an excellent job with world building and character development. I would recommend this book for anyone who loves fantasy.
