A broken hero An orphaned child And the lawman who could save them both
Colin Shepard knew the exact second his twin sister Becca died. He was free-falling from a plane at the time. He cheated his death, but was left a very broken man.
Two things kept him going through the pain: Keeping his promise to Becca and raising her son as his own, and bringing her killer to justice.
But he was going to need something he hated to ask for. Help.
Sheriff Gabriel Green had done the right thing all his life. Part of that included on the job, working on a case that led nowhere with no clues or leads. Justice still needed to be found. But with the case of Becca Shepard’s disappearance, it seemed a long way off, and getting longer by the day.
Then Colin came back to town and things started heating up. And not just on the case…
All About Zane is a slow burn MM Gay Mystery Romance and the first book in the Travis County Legal Series. It has a happily-ever-after ending, no cliffhanger, and a great steamy get together scene worth waiting for.
¸.•*'¨) (¸.•' ★When it came down to it, it really WAS All About Zane...
Colin knew the instant something went wrong with his twin sister. With her missing and presumed dead, being there for her son, becoming an instant dad, was not something Colin thought would happen. But now he finds himself on the short end of the law, fighting family to keep his promises to his sister and her son. What starts out as Colin's needs for answer soon becomes a fight for everyone's life.
Sherrif Gabe Green knew without a shadow of a doubt Colin was the better man to raise his nephew. All it took now was the law to agree. When the going got tough, he made a decision that placed him far to close to the other man. Now Gabe has the keep his personal and professional life from colliding and losing it all.
This book encompassed a murder mystery that kept me in the moment, but I was highly annoyed with several scenes that should NEVER had happen. This was an okay read and yes, I look forward to book two. Colin and Gabe together worked. A total slow burn story that should have warned: keep your enemies close and your family closer.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
No romance in this story was, a good story by the way BUT I didn't get involved emotionally. No chemistry between the two MCs who chat a few times and then at the end of the book they declare their love and have sex. Disappontment is in order here.
This story has a little bit of everything in it. It has Colin, reserve military Seal, who was injured. It has his twin sister goes missing at the same time he’s injured. With his sister missing, it leaves an orphaned nephew. Then there is the asshole step-brother who wants the nephew. There is the ‘friends with benefits’ Josh, who wants to be more. Add a hunky sheriff, Gabe who isn’t out of the closet yet. An oblivious parent, a shy but fierce nanny and there’s even a dog added to the mix. It is intriguing story with its touch of murder/mystery added to the building of the relationship between Colin and Gabe.
I liked everything about this book. All the elements mesh together to keep you turning the pages. It is well written, most of the characters are likeable and real. The asshole step-brother you’re not supposed to like and you don’t. And you want to reach into the pages and shake Colin’s mom, the oblivious parent, and tell her to wake up and see what was happening. The only thing I would have wanted was some more depth into the ‘why’ of what happened. For me, it was never fully explained. But I still really enjoyed this story. And I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
After his sisters disappearance and his accident Colin needs to get his nephew Zane back from his stepbrother Michael. A court battle ensue and the judge wants to talk to Zane so asks Sherrif Gabe Green to bring Zane to the court. After Zane speaks with the judge and tells him what's been happening living with Michael the judge grants a 6 months temporary order so Colin can take him home as long as he gets help. His friend Joshua suggests he moves in to help but also has altera motive, he's in love with Co!in! Colin needs to find a nanny so Joshua can move out. He finds Molly who has looked after Zane before working at the local store and down on her luck, Colin offers her the nanny job. Sheriff Gabe Green has been on the case looking for Becca since she disappeared and after seeing Colin he knows he needs to help him. Having a son himself from a loveless marriage he helps Colin find evidence so that he can keep Zane. Gabe hasn't come out as gay but can't hide his feelings for Colin. When they work out who murdered Becca they are more than determined for justice. This is a lovely story from heartbreak to HEA!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved it. It is well written and kept me riveted until the end. Colin has to deal with the unthinkable, the loss of his twin sister Becca. To make it worse he is injured during seal training and can’t get home to take custody of his young nephew for 6 months. When he finally makes it home he has to fight his stepbrother and the rest of his family for the right to adopt Zane. Gabe is a single father and the local sheriff and also in the closet. He is working to find Becca’s body and solve her murder. Colin wants to help Gabe and they work together to find closure. They also fall for each other. This book has a HEA and I highly recommend that you read it. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
It was good but at the same time i am really sad about Becca's murder... so sad... I don't understand why the court were going to maybe go against Becca's decision to let Zane be with Colin, it's not as f he is a drug addict, he s recovering from an accident that could have cost his life and he just needs to use a cane... I am quite angry at the mother, i would have like a final angsty scene between Colin and her
This was an okay read. The writing was a little different and there were a few technical and logistical things that were a bit questionable. But over an okay story easy to read. One thing that bothered me Josh was supposedly Colin's friend but when everything starting hitting the fan no Josh or mention of him. Just saying didn't like that part.
I’ve often heard that twins have a special bond that no other siblings have, so I’m not surprised that Colin knew when his sister died. All about Zane was a good read, albeit with some typos and a few POV issues. Putting that aside the story had merritt. Murder, kidnapping, deception, hate, family strife – what’s better than all of that combined into one story?
Moon did a good job of capturing my attention, especially during the opening trial. I won’t spoil it for those who want to read the book, but I will say it got me angry, so angry I wanted to reach through the pages and strangle the person involved. After that scene, I just had to continue reading. I needed to know not only if justice was served, but how it all came down. The mystery of how and why Becca, Colin’s twin sister, died had gone cold while Colin was away. Upon his return, he had to reignite the need to complete the investigation and put his sister’s life to rest.
I write Mystery/Romance and know that writing mystery can be quite complex. Where to begin. How much to divulge at what stages throughout the book. Making sure there is enough story and plot to keep the reader’s interest. Moon did all of that well, giving me a good feeling when I finished the book and shut my Kindle. I read a lot of books, some really good and others not so much. I gave All About Zane 3.5 stars because the book was not thoroughly edited and it could have had a bit more character backstory and development
I enjoyed this book. Colin knew something was was wrong was sister. I don't know why a court would go against the wishes of legal guardianship of kids. I could understand it was temporary like in his case when he was injured and after he had recovered they should have given his nephew back to him. I love the fact that the judge asked Zane how he was treated at his Uncle Mike's house. I liked the way they treated Molly as though she is part of the family and not just a nanny. The story was interesting from the beginning to the end. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
Colin used Joshua which tarnished his otherwise nice guy image. Some of his comments are not what one would expect from a Seal. There were typo/grammatical errors but they were not terribly distracting. The "mother" should have been persona non grata after what she a!lowed to happen to her children and grandson. And, I'd like a more complete explanation of the motives behind the murder which was rather sad. However, all in all, I enjoyed the story with the exception of the bland, lubeless sex scene.
I liked this up until Colin recommends using soap for lube "because it's pretty slick". Unless that little bite of pain he feels is due to him having lost most of his ability to feel anything below the waist in his accident, that is just not a statement that ANYONE would suggest.
The motive for Michael could have worked since he certainly seemed to be a bit of a sociopath, but what about his dad?. I got the impression that the dad was homophobic and a jerk, but not incapable of feeling. It just felt a bit unfinished for being billed as a mystery.
I really did like this but it was simplistic to me. You can't get too engrossed with the characters in under two-hundred pages but the personality of good or evil was apparent in each character. I was dismayed at the Mother's character as I THOUGHT she'd side with her children but she didn't. (I wouldn't want to live with her hubbie after going against him either so we're kind of in agreement, sorry to say.) Book two is about Joshua but I'll skip that as I was glad about him. Good. Riddance.
More a murder-mystery/police procedural than a MM relationship-developing story, it was delightful to read something that kept the angst down while developing the relationship was in the background. Nice touches with the use of twin-bonding, single fathers, and the evil step-brother. The Indiana setting was brilliant, but felt like anywhere in the northeast. Nice little hiccups in the story helped develop a story line that kept your nose in the book (or screen, in my case.) Realistic resolution and ends with a bit of heat.
Family is everything, add murder, betrayals and possible love now that's a story
A magnificent piece of storytelling; aside from it's terrific characters, it has a loss of a loved one, fighting for a child, a horrific murder, and possibly a new love at the end. This story would be great whether it had to do with MM or MF characters. I definitely recommend this thrilling story to any reader who appreciates good writing.
I really enjoyed this book, I only wish it had been a little longer. I was a little hesitant to read it, as I am not fond of the combination of romance and suspense, but this book combined the genres very successfully. I am looking forward to book two. I am hoping that Josh finishing forever man.
The story focuses on what happened to Colin's twin sister and the sheriff Gabe investigating her disappearance. It was a well written mystery. The only thing I didn't like was once the investigation was over, bam they are in love. Overall is was a good story and I'll read the others in the series.
I didnt expect much of the book, I was plesant suppriced. I liked that the author so much energy to solve what happened to Becca and the development of the MC. I felt bad for Joshua and Colins step brother and father herre unlikable. It was nice how much everyone cared about zane.
Such a great story. You could feel the love for Zane all through this great story. The Hero (Zane's Uncle) found Zane's beloved stuffed 🐇 and made sure to return it to him.
Just loved the book. Took time to get into it but once there. The characters good and bad are well developed. The love between Colin and gabe lovely. Though f I was gabe I'd think twice as colon going to be a handful. Can't wait to find out about Joshua. Another Saint
Very well written with a fast easy to read pace. A good plot and subplot, even if predictable and overly convenient events. I enjoyed that the love story was not the main focus of every event in the book.
This book was just great! Intricate, who done it, mystery, just the right amounts of sex. I'm the kind of person who likes a good plot with a little spice. This book takes the cake and you get to eat it to! Lol.
Not bad for a story about a man who lost his twin sister and is trying his hardest to get her son back, which is what she would have wanted. I thought that the mystery aspect was well done and enjoyed seeing the characters interact. However, I thought that the story was too short.
This is a great book written great by this author, these two men and two children and molly and the shepherd came throw a great deal of trauma caused by a family member ,,,,I read this book twice and loved it both times
A new to me author, I picked this book up in a free offering. I enjoyed it very much. The mystery was well written, and the romance between Gabe and Colin a slow burn. The kids added a nice touch.
It’s not bad, just not very realistic. Plays fast and loose with police procedure but we learn a lot about their home decor. Not bad just not terribly good.
