Dr Sarah Myhill has been helping sufferers from debilitating chronic conditions for over 30 years with an approach that combines all the benefits of current scientific knowledge and medical testing and treatments with an expanding appreciation of the importance of nutrition and lifestyle. Her book with Craig Robinson, Prevent and Cure Diabetes, saw her arrive at the conclusion that the diet we should ALL be eating is one that combines Paleo principles (eating pre-agricultural, seasonal foods) with Ketogenic ones (fuel the body with fats and fibre, not with carbs or protein). That book tells us WHY; now in this down-to-earth, highly practical cookbook, Sarah and Craig tell us HOW.
An extremely restricting diet. I don't understand why the Paleo diet is even considered to be healthy. I can wrap my head around the fact that sugar is more addictive than heroin and should be avoided at all costs and the keto diet does that exactly.
Also, this is not a cook book. So don't get your hopes up.
A Paleo - Keto diet is so restrictive that it puts a period to your social life.
I experimented with a lot of diets which include but not limited to vegetarian, vegan, carnivore, keto and Paleo- Keto and found that none of them are any wiser.
I found fasting to be a very effective tool at controlling your weight may it be loss or gain. If you can go OMAD( ONE MEAL A DAY), it simplifies your life a lot easier. Your body can't accommodate sugar for more than 3-4 hours (no matter the amount of carbs) and the rest is converted to fat and stopped in belly. Without further sugar intake you will start to feel hungry for an hour or so, but then, your body starts eating itself to get rid of the fat which is basically ketosis without the restricting diet. Stop buying into the crap.
It was okay, not much of an actual cookbook in the traditional sense though. Perhaps a little too much on the bandwagon of 'only this diet will cure you' but tried to back up their claims with some research and some funny quotes. Good to look at if you are considering giving up the carbs and / or thinking of going Paleo or Atkins to see what the advantages and implications might be. Probably a little too into coconut fats and milks, and way too much meat in the diet which might not suit a number of people, especially those who are more incline with trying to lower their carbon footprint. A good look at why we need to lower the sugars and high carbs though.
if you have any chronic illness i would recommend reading this. learning about how dairy allergies move across the body so arent obvious helped me to realize I had one. plus it's incredibly educational. i had such a good experience my brother has now started the diet and has seen improvements in both his physical and mental health
