Sometimes you have to break the rules. Sometimes you have to let go of the past. And sometimes you have to accept the impossible.
Danielle Howard likes her life, as strange as it is. For her, this is as good as it gets. Who needs things like family, a home, and romance, anyway? She spends her days as a mortal woman, and her nights as a wolf, killing vampires for a living. What could be better than that? Well, maybe there is one thing missing...
Danielle thought one day she and her hunting partner, Lothar, would be more than friends. But some things just can’t be. Lothar is next in line for the High Council seat, and that means he is way out of her league. She’s talked herself into doing her job, with or without his love. He’s still her alpha, and that has its own appeal.
Nick Shepard knew there was more to life. He’d just never been able to find it. When the sexy Danielle comes into his life, everything changes. All he’s ever wanted is to know who he is, and why he’s different. Being unprepared for the truth isn’t going to stop him from embracing it. Whether Danielle is a part of his future or not, he’s not sure, but he knows one thing... He is never going back.
The Tangled Moon Saga: Lothar, Nick and Danielle are all really interesting characters and the strained relationship between them gives this series a solid foundation to work from. As is the norm with this author’s books, you know from the beginning that you are in for some serious surprises and she doesn’t let you down. There is plenty of action in this novel to keep you whipping through pages, but she also gives you the emotional aspects of her characters and their relationships to one another. Even the side characters come off as important and integral to the overall plot. ~Ionia Martin, book reviewer for Readful Things
I've read a few paranormal romance books. I really enjoyed this one. The characters have well-rounded backgrounds and the werewolf physiology and politics are different from any other book I've read. It adds an interesting complication to a werewolf’s love life. ~Goodreads Reviewer, Rose Davis
…He caught up her hands, stilling her. “Easy,” he mouthed.
“I-don’t-want-to,” she panted, writhing against him.
He laughed. It wasn’t arrogant. His eyes were still black from his own excitement, but his expression had softened. Slowly, he released her hands and drew her back into him. He kissed her again. She was shaking. Violently.
Too much, she thought. Too pent up for too long. She could try and fool herself, like she had for years, but she definitely had needs, and they’d gone long unmet. Danielle worked one hand free and tried to get at the buttons on his shirt. She’d told Nick once that she was no man’s territory, but oh, God, she wanted to belong to this one. The strength of it scared her.
“Lothar . . .” She came up on her toes, her chin lifted to him. “Fix it like you fix everything. Fix me, please.”
He caught her face in both hands, kissed her forehead. “Easy,” he said. “I need you to be calm.”
She jerked back, out of his arms. She was shaking and gasping for air. “You’re such an idiot.”
“You need to hear me.”
“Oh, I hear you. I’ve heard you longer than anyone. And I’ve heard all I can take.” Danielle felt her mouth filling with venom.
He shook his head. “So much you still do not know.”
“Then teach me. What’s wrong with me that you don’t teach me.”
With a growl he grabbed her, pulling her close and knocking the wind out of her. Even though they were the same species, he was proportionally stronger.
Danielle wasn’t sure what had happened after that, but her fangs were in him, sinking under the skin of his neck. She felt her venom release into his body so hard it hurt her.
Assaulted by the taste of blood in her mouth and the sudden strain on her venom glands, she pulled free and stumbled back a step.
She’d bitten him. Worse than that, she’d Marked him…

Olivia Stocum lives in New York State with her husband, three children, two cats, a dog, and numerous goldfish. Her favorite books are Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and Persuasion by Jane Austen.
She’s been an avid writer since she published her first poem at the age of eight, and now has seven published novels.
I had the pleasure of meeting the author who is a sweet soul. I have seen a few grammatical errors but that did not stop me from completing the book. I usually do not read romantasy and No spoilers but I am team Nick all the way. I loved his charm and confidence through out the entire book. I also loved how Danielle brought out the confidence back to Nick after he had a rough relationship with his ex.
There are a lot of books out there with werewolf and vampire characters, but few of them hold my interest. This one did. I liked the way the author handled the story, making sure this was not just another repeat of other books that have come before it.

There is enough steam in this novel to keep the romance readers happy, but not so much that it is intolerable for those of us that don't want to read a book with a million pointless love scenes. The descriptions of the scenery and the shifting in this book are fantastic. I could feel the atmosphere from the first page, perfectly appropriate to the plot.
If you are looking for something paranormal but different, this will satisfy the craving. I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes next.

Tangled Moon is a great romance novel. I'm not typically a reader of romance novels but a friend recommended this so I purchased it and read it. Darcy has a great writing style she kept me hooked. The historical nature and the vampires and werewolves aspect is what particularly kept my attention. I highly recommend this book. I've read this one twice and I'm looking forward to her next book. Thanks Darcy for sharing your talent with us.
Story with realistic lovers trying to make the best of wherever they find themselves. Really like the twists and turned the author creates to develop strong and believable characters.
