Find a girl. Get married. Produce an heir… The family business.
It was just meant to be a contest, the winner becoming my bride, but the second I saw her, there was no competition.
Elora can fight against me all she wants, but I will have her. A prince always gets what he wants, and she will be my princess.
But I never expected to be the one falling to my knees, begging for her and her alone.
I can’t lose this game; I’m too invested now. If it came down to it, I’d give it all up – my freedom, my family, my crown. But would Elora do the same for me?
Will she give up her freedom to be a prince’s bride and royal baby maker?
Our hero pressured to marry chose an unconventional way to choose his bride. He chose a bride that his parents' prejudice caused his father to try to buy off. Broken and pregnant she left and returned to the states without telling our hero why she ran. Our heroine was in love and believed our hero only wanted her for an heir until he showed up at her job and professed his love for her with an engagement ring to boot. In this scenario our hero resisted his father and mother's choice of a wife and found the woman who fit him. Good story and even in fiction prejudice against Black people takes center stage even when it does not rule the outcome.
Really enjoyed this book. Story was different take on usual story. Author did tend to get too wordy but overall book was good. Could have done more story development. What happened to woman who stalked leads in book? Overall this is good quick read
