This is literally the most chill manga series that I’ve ever read and it’s great! There isn’t much that goes on except the fact that the main characters like to go camping, but as a reader you learn so much like the proper tools to have when cooking outdoors, what types of charcoal burn better, the different structures of tents. As a person who doesn’t spend a lot of time outdoors, this series is absolutely phenomenal. I love all of the characters and the friendship that they share. I see so many amazing things happening in the future and I can’t wait to continue to follow them on their journey. I definitely will be picking up the next volume!

These are so cozy and I’m now obsessed with this series! Definitely perfect for Autumn and Winter time. The author is a camper so all this information we receive in the manga is accurate which I love!!

The second volume in the Yuru Camp/Laid-Back Camp and it is time to bundle up and get camping.

I was in the mood for something chill, something laid-back, something calm. And this one fits the bill perfectly. Just watching girls go camping and having a good time.

This one was indeed very chill and fluffy and I had tons of fun seeing the girls go camping and having a fantastic fun time. The first two chapters are when Rin and Nadeshiko are separate (but they find a way to connect which just had me so happy) but later on in the volume they also go camping and have a great time (and had me laughing with the urban legend). But we also see them at school, at the club. I just love it.

We also see some new camping goods and learn new things. Like how to get rid of a lacquer layer (and don’t forget the vinegar at the end), how to make a good cooking fire, how to tie logs together to create some kind of candle (just made of wood). I really enjoyed learning all these things, though I probably won’t use them, but who knows, maybe one day! I love seeing these girls get fun camping gear and get better and better at camping. Rin is already pretty much an expert, but Nadeshiko is learning fast.

I loved that we didn’t just see Rin and Nadeshiko, but also see Chiaki and Aoi and Ena. Yes, I love our MCs the most of course. But it also a lot of fun to see other characters make their appearance and for us to see what they are up to. I just love the Outdoor Activities Club. Oh man, I wish we had clubs when we were in school. I would join that one in a heartbeat. Just like a bookclub, a creative club. OK, I would have to clone myself I guess. 😛

There is plenty of talk about food and boy I got very hungry seeing all the yummy food and food ideas pop by.

The art is still gorgeous as ever! The backgrounds, the scenery, holy wow, I wish I could see those in real life! Hopefully one day I can go to Japan!

I am curious what will be next because winter is coming and nights are becoming quite cold. Will the girls still go camping? Or will they make up other plans to visit Japan but still keep warm? Will we see Rin’s grandfather, the one who gave her her love for the outdoors? I cannot wait. Though I will take it easy on reading as I don’t want to fly through the series too fast.

I just love how this is not only a cozy slice of life story, but also sprinkles in practical tidbits about camping. Will I ever like going camping? Hell no. Do I appreciate it more now? Yeah, I kinda do.

If you feel stuck in a rut and like you need someone or something to remind you how to just cut back and relax, then Laidback Camp may be a good next read for you.
It really is just a cute little story about the camping hobby of a handful of high school girls. It’s a look into the slice of life we don’t see too often; chill and comfy hobbies of high schoolers. This perspective with the personalities Afro-sensei has created make for a fun and comfy time.

Rin is set on a solo camping trip to Mt. Bocchi, while Nadeshiko, Aki, Aoi are camping together elsewhere. They both hit hot springs and enjoy planning their special warming camping meals. Later, Nadeshiko convinces Rin to go camping with her to try out her new grill, but the place they camp has a spooky legend of a lake monster that may have the girls sharing tents instead of sleeping in their own. The Outdoor Exploration Club at school starts talking about a Christmas camping trip, but they need to survive exams first.

I liked this one much better than the first. You can tell Nadeshiko is learning the camping ropes, and that Rin is a bit of an introvert but does desire some interaction with the others...she just doesn't quite know how to express it. There are some actual camping tips worked into the story, and there's some yummy food descriptions in here that are likely to make you hungry.

Notes on content: 1 minor swear. No sexual content. (There's one illustration of the girls in the hot spring that is almost revealing, and another of a girl undressing from the back just showing a little of her underthings.) No violence. An adult camper at a nearby site is drunk (not portrayed as a good thing).

Aufmachung

Ich bin hin und weg vom Zeichenstil. Die Hintergründe sehen episch aus. Und auch die Charaktere, die so eine Chibi und normale Person Mischung sind, gefallen mir sehr. Dieser Stil hat mich zum Kauf animiert, obwohl ich Camping gar nicht mag.

Aber auch den Erzählstil finde ich toll. Ich hab das alles so gefühlt und bin vollkommen abgetaucht. Auch hatte ich das Gefühl mehr Inhalt als nur 178 Seite gehabt zu haben.



Charaktere

Rin liebt das Campen. Vorzugsweise allein. Sie kommt nicht so sehr aus sich heraus im Umgang mit anderen, doch man merkt, dass sie ihre Mitmenschen gern hat. Da sie jedoch die Ruhe liebt, campt sie in der Nebensaison.

Nadeshiko ist genau das Gegenteil Rins. Sie gehört zur lebhaften Sorte und ist leicht zu begeistern. Außerdem liebt sie den Fuji so sehr, dass ihr sogar einen Spitznamen verleiht.



Fazit

Dieser Manga strahlt eine enorme Ruhe aus und entspannt mich beim Lesen. Rin kommt langsam etwas aus sich heraus. Main topic bleibt natürlich das Campen mit allem, was dazu gehört. Besonders cool sind die Rezepte die sich in der Geschichte verstecken :)

I loved the first volume of this manga, and this second volume is really just more of the same, in the best way possible. So here is my review of the first one:

"This slice-of-life manga just tells the story of a group of teenage friends who enjoy going camping. They talk about camping equipment, camp sites, and camping techniques. And we see them going camping, and enjoying themselves. There's no high drama, no danger, no serious conflict. Nobody gets chased by bears or trapped in a snowstorm. It's gentle, it's adorable, and I love it."

Another enjoyable volume. Some group camping and coming across other campers.

I like that some of the girls have jobs. No not the 'we need money, so let's get jobs so we can get some!' They seem to have jobs to earn their own spending money. Rin has a moped/scooter so maybe she uses her money on gas. Plus there are the camping expenses. Having them have jobs gets rid of the trope of the broke high school kids or them just magically having the funds for their escapades.

Truly enjoying this series. Have already requested the other volumes from the library.

This break from reality is the coolest little manga series in which the a group enjoys winter camping and the sights, sounds, and eats of the beautiful outdoors whether they're stopping at places to grab some food or waking up to a beautiful sunset in their awesome sleeping bags.

The visuals of this manga, even in black and white stand out to me and bring me into the beautiful natural world with their antics and enjoyment of good food too. They run into two people camping that help them with their charcoal briquettes after obsessing over the little mini stove that was given to them.

I watched the anime like million times, so I know all the story by heart but it doesn't take away all the fun reading the manga, still love it. Reading while imagining the exact scene in the anime with all the voices and the sounds is kinda nostalgic, I love these characters and the art and the beautiful of mount fuji and many lakes in Japan and it makes me want to watch the anime again.
Overall it's a cozy slice-of-life about camping, no thinking required, just enjoy the relaxing camping vibe with cute characters.

Tập 2 vẫn hay, vẫn cái không khí rất chill, vẫn nhiều bí kíp, lời khuyên về cắm trại bổ ích. Nhưng mấy cái món ăn, thịt thà trong tập này được miêu tả kỹ quá, mà mình thì không ăn mấy món ấy được, nên cảm thấy hơi ngợp. :))

Cái phân đoạn Rin và Nadeshiko đi cắm trại rồi được anh "hàng xóm" giúp đỡ và sau đó san sẻ đồ ăn với nhau tự nhiên gợi cho mình nhớ về lần đầu mình được đi cắm trại, khi mình và 2 chị bạn của mình cũng được mấy anh "hàng xóm" giúp đỡ và sau đó cùng chia sẻ những món ăn, câu chuyện với nhau. Hehe. Hoài niệm ghê.

About what you'd expect. Aoi is still lewd as fuck. Comfy camping scenes. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I guess one big thing is they're setting up a camping-loving drunk substitute teacher to take over one of their classes, as well as bringing Satou into the mix. We're also getting closer to having Rin camp with the other girls, instead of just with Nadeshiko.

A few chapters jumped between two groups of people who were camping and it took some time for me to figure out who was who and which characters were camping together. There were also a few scenes with the characters at school that lost my attention.

I enjoyed seeing how the characters found new spots to camp and new ways to build fires, etc.

The camping girls are back with more friends met and lessons learned along the way. The pair camp separately, one solo and one with the camping club, but they each learn the pros and cons of camping in the fall. There are so many things to learn about camping, cooking, and life, while discovering new things about yourself and your friends.

I totally get why some people love this series. So far...I am in the like category. Not much happens, but this book proves that a lot does not need to happen in order to make a series memorable. A new portable grill is purchased and taken camping. That is as fair of a synopsis as any. Art is beautiful and one can appreciate camping even if the desire does not exist to do so yourself.

A fun story and a perfect read for an overcast summer day. It made me very nostalgic for fall. I've never been camping in the fall (or camping in general for a very long time), but his series really makes me want to do both. Also, camp in Japan and I've never even been to Japan.

A plot starts to develop more in this novel when the girls go on a few different cold weather camping trips. I love the camping tips, cooking directions, and the general cozy feel of cold weather camping in Japan.

A good continuation to the series and I do like how it is going. This volume, now that the characters have been established, was less episodic and the events from the previous chapter continued to the next. Still well paced and good artwork. I look forward to continuing this series.

I have found the kind of manga I love: quiet, fun manga full of friendship and love. This volume of Laid-Back Camp is as calming as the first volume. I love the panels of the campsites and really love seeing the characters get closer.
