I used to think I had it all - the fame, the fans, the adoration and most of all - the music. My brother and I were two halves of the rock band, Slone. We'd been famous since we were teenagers. Despite all those blessings, one day I looked up and realized, I had nothing. Couldn't write a song to save my life...or my relationship with my brother. I was allowing myself to fail.
But then I found her. Maeva. She was the proud, devastatingly beautiful adopted daughter of the president of the record label. Her father had invited me to The Estate, a mansion in the outskirts of Manila, Philippines. Maeva coaxed me back into myself - the real me with her unconditional love, her nurturing, her touch.
In the end, I had to leave, cherishing every moment we'd had together. Could the two of us - from different sides of the world - find each other again?

New to me, this was a monthly read for a book group. So glad it was. This poor Rock Star 🌟 Jacob loses his way. Then Robert Owen comes into his life and suggests he visit his place in the Philippines. There he meets Maeve. They teach each other new things. Jacob showing Maeve how to do a shiver shot have me the shivers. So sexy. Kept me interested. From a New Fan... Pam James.
From the moment I opened this book I was drawn into the story of Maeva and Jacob. I love that the story is set somewhere I have never been and know almost nothing about. I liked reading about, and then looking up, some of the things they saw and ate.
I liked the characters right from the beginning. Maeva develops so nicely throughout the story and she begins to learn what being an adult is really all about. Jacob starts the story like a lost little boy. I just wanted to scoop him up and hug away all his problems. They both grow together and I liked that.
Overall, this was a great story. It had a well thought out plot, the setting was well crafted, and the characters were relatable. For a debut indie author this was a great read. I will be keeping my eye on this author and will be reading the stories she has to tell in the future.
