The guys all want you at the country club because they like to be seen with the mighty Cameron Hamilton, and the girls all want you around because they want to sleep with the eligible Cameron Hamilton.”
“I suppose not. I like the ladies. They like me. It’s not a problem.”
Mary Ellen thought he was a womanizer. Larissa thought he was on a never-ending quest for a new piece of ass. Was that who he really was?
“I rather think you get through as many girlfriends as I get through novels.”
“They’re not girlfriends, Mom!” She gave him a stern look. “I know, dear. I was trying to be polite about it.”
She was blonde and curvy; he was more often attracted to willowy brunettes—women who looked a lot like his brother’s fiancée, Laura.
He’d had a raging boner for most of the weekend, and Larissa would have willingly provided him with some relief, but it wasn’t Larissa he wanted.
“At the same time, she’s not the kind of girl who’d fit into my life in a longer term, dating kind of situation. And besides, she lives here, I don’t. And to complicate things further, I talked to Ben about renting one of the cabins for the weekends through the fall. This lake of yours has gotten to me. I’d like to keep coming back, even after the wedding. I don’t want to make that complicated or messy by sleeping with someone here.”
Cameron dropped his gaze. “See, I know what a dozen red roses mean, Cameron. It means thanks for the sex, see you next time.”
“And how many dinner reservations—of the table for two variety—have you asked me to make in the last three weeks?” “None,” he muttered.
“Exactly. And in case I haven’t made my point clear enough yet, just how many cases of the 2002 Reserve have I shipped to your recent willing partners?” He looked up at her from under lowered brows. “None.”
Was he really going to warn her about Larissa and Mel and Natasha? No! He wasn’t. She’d been so leery of him when she’d thought he was just a player.
“Is that like, your trademark or something?” “What?” “Sending wine and red roses to women you sleep with?”
