Red Wine and Roses

Rate this book
Take a trip to wine country to meet the Hamiltons in this new sweet and steamy series from SJ McCoy.

Cameron Hamilton may well be the most eligible bachelor in Napa Valley. He’s the CEO of Hamilton-Groves, one of the largest wine producers and distributors in the country. He lives a charmed life. Admired for his skills in the boardroom – and the bedroom—he works hard and plays harder. He’s not looking for a wife, he’s too busy living to want to settle down.

Piper Reynolds is at a crossroads in her life. She’s just moved to California to take a job flying a private jet. After years flying cargo and believing that was as far as her career would go, her new job and new life are a dream come true. It couldn’t get any better – or could it? She isn’t looking for a man, but as Maid of Honor for her old friend Laura, she’s paired with best man Cameron Hamilton. He’s irresistible, but she’s trying to resist – at least at first.

Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)

Favorite Quotes:

Son. A jealous woman is always a problem. God help you if you don’t understand that.

You mean the right moment? There’ll never be one of those. You just have to pick a moment and make it right.

My Review:

I adored this sweet and sexy couple and enjoyed their romance. They had completely different backgrounds and lived in different places. Piper was the only child raised by a hard-working single mother living in a trailer house; Cameron had always known wealth, siblings, and a loving family. He was a player (although he didn’t like being called one), and she was a good girl. She was the opposite of his typical type in every way, yet they both felt an unmistakable magnetic pull when the other was near. Zing. I always enjoy S.J. McCoy’s engaging and breezy stories, as well as her endearingly flawed, realistic, amusing, and lovable characters. I am thrilled with the carry-over of the Summer Lake series as the characters were a comfortable fit and had become as familiar as my personal friends. This new series was given a pleasing and enjoyable start with a new and interesting cast of players.

Good! Ok read
=================

The guys all want you at the country club because they like to be seen with the mighty Cameron Hamilton, and the girls all want you around because they want to sleep with the eligible Cameron Hamilton.”

“I suppose not. I like the ladies. They like me. It’s not a problem.”

Mary Ellen thought he was a womanizer. Larissa thought he was on a never-ending quest for a new piece of ass. Was that who he really was?

“I rather think you get through as many girlfriends as I get through novels.”

“They’re not girlfriends, Mom!” She gave him a stern look. “I know, dear. I was trying to be polite about it.”

She was blonde and curvy; he was more often attracted to willowy brunettes—women who looked a lot like his brother’s fiancée, Laura.

He’d had a raging boner for most of the weekend, and Larissa would have willingly provided him with some relief, but it wasn’t Larissa he wanted.

“At the same time, she’s not the kind of girl who’d fit into my life in a longer term, dating kind of situation. And besides, she lives here, I don’t. And to complicate things further, I talked to Ben about renting one of the cabins for the weekends through the fall. This lake of yours has gotten to me. I’d like to keep coming back, even after the wedding. I don’t want to make that complicated or messy by sleeping with someone here.”

Cameron dropped his gaze. “See, I know what a dozen red roses mean, Cameron. It means thanks for the sex, see you next time.”

“And how many dinner reservations—of the table for two variety—have you asked me to make in the last three weeks?” “None,” he muttered.
“Exactly. And in case I haven’t made my point clear enough yet, just how many cases of the 2002 Reserve have I shipped to your recent willing partners?” He looked up at her from under lowered brows. “None.”

Was he really going to warn her about Larissa and Mel and Natasha? No! He wasn’t. She’d been so leery of him when she’d thought he was just a player.

“Is that like, your trademark or something?” “What?” “Sending wine and red roses to women you sleep with?”

Red Wine & Roses
The Hamiltons Book 1
S.J. McCoy

Welcome back to Summer Lake, a wonderful Lakeside Town in California. A town where love blooms and can show up out of the blue.
I really do not like posting spoilers so I am trying by best not to here. Hehe
Cameron Hamilton is the womanizing brother of Smoke Hamilton (Cole) and Piper Gaines is the best friend of Laura Benson.
Cameron and Piper are standing as Best Man and Maid of Honor at the wedding of Smoke and Laura.
What can possibly happen when the best man and maid of honor hook up for a simple no strings fling? Nothing right? Just having a bit of fun, piece of cake.
Cameron and Piper know that they are not what the other wants so it should be no problem. Somewhere, somehow they both decide they want more but are afraid to make that first step to admitting it to each other.
Afraid of being hurt, being pushed away for someone better, neither looking for love.
What happens when the heart and the head collide? Which will win? Come and find out when a rich playboy from Napa Valley collides with the newest spitfire who lives in Summer Lake.
Come join many others who have found and fallen in love with the writing of SJ McCoy.
Quite possibly the most emotional story I have read and completely fallen in love with for a long time. The best part is that you get to spend more time with those of the Beloved Summer Lake family.
If this is the first book you have decided on reading from SJ McCoy then you won't be disapointed. You will want to go back and pick up every single one of her books.
If you have been following along with the Summer Lake Group then you are really in for a wonderful story. Every book I read of hers I fall in love with, this one is no exception.

I was provided a copy of this book for an honest review – PS I honestly LOVED it!

Dlaczego sięgnęłam po książkę autorki, z którą wcześniej się nie zetknęłam? No cóż, lubię czerwone wino, a pierwszy tom serii z Hamiltonami oferuje Amazon bezpłatnie. Ważnym powodem decyzji było ponadto wyznanie S.J. McCoy, urodzonej w UK, obecnie mieszkającej w amerykańskim stanie Montana, jakie znalazłam na jej profilu: „I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life.”

„it’s too good to be true”.

California Dreamin'

Red Wine and Roses, book 1 in S. J McCoy's The Hamilton's series, is another winning romance as Far as this reader is concerned. Replanted to Missouri from my Central California roots, I find myself dreaming often of the California coast. S. J McCoy's Red Wine and Roses is like a magical trip home to Napa and the wonderful town of Summer Lake. While The Hamiltons is a whole new series,it crosses over with many characters from Summer Lake. I haven't finished the Summer Lake series yet, so I did find myself having to look up who is who at times. But S.J McCoy does a very good job within Red Wine and Roses of tying the past and present together, so you won't be totally lost if you start with this novel first.
As usual, the main characters are so well-developed, you can picture them in your mind. And though somewhat more glamorous then my mundane life, they remain very relatable. Piper, the female protagonist, for instance struggles with body image and self esteem issues. Cameron, the male main character, also has issues many men experience as they struggle to discover true love. S.J. McCoy instinctively understands that the course to true love and happily ever after is never easy. Yet, in the end , love does conquer all!
Red Wine and Roses is a very entertaining interlude. Well worth the time away from life's many demands. So settle down on your lounge chair, with your beverage of choice, a little Sangria seemed to fit my mood, and soak up some sun and romance with S.J McCoy's Red Wine and Roses!

Red Wine and Roses is the first book in The Hamilton's series. Although this is a standalone story, you know this is a spin-off from previous series. There are several secondary characters who have a relationship and backstory with the main characters. This is Cameron and Piper's story.

She’s just moved to California to take a job flying a private jet for her best friend's husband. She is pinching herself because she never believed her career would be more than flying a cargo plane. She certainly never expected to fall for her best friend's brother-in-law who is the last person she should want to be with.

This story was just ok for me. I wanted to like it more than I did. There was too much self doubt in Piper and Cameron's womanizer ways just all of a sudden change because that is not who he believes he is? His actions speak differently and his sudden change did not seem genuine. I did like the characters, I just could not connect with them. Their story did not seem at all attainable or relatable and although they get their HEA, I just wanted more from them and the overall story. ⭐⭐

I'm totally in love with everything SJ writes. I downloaded a free three box set the other year to try reading again during my summer, having not read for pleasure for years, save a cult series here and there and always way after everyone else, e.g. Harry Potter and Hunger Games. Those first three books had me buying up everything SJ has written, I was devouring books and then I hit the worst thing ever, I had read all her books! I needed to wait for new releases.

This is the first in a new series, developing two characters we are familiar with from a previous series, although the book would easily read well without that prior knowledge.

Cameron is a high powered CEO, who has no time for real love and makes his choice to enjoy the women who just want to spend the night with him , no strings. That is until he is best man for his brother, Cole and Cam falls for the bridesmaid, Piper. Piper is best friend to Cam's future sister in law. She is a pilot, who has found it difficult to make her way in a male dominated world.

Piper makes a start on her new life in a small town by the lake, Cam needs to stay in the valleys where his family empire is based.

I couldn't put this book down!

Piper just moved closer to her best friend is ready to see what life has for her. She has never had it easy and it ready to take the “bull” by its horns and take on this new adventure. Cameron is the Ceo of his families company and he doesn’t lack the amount of fun and women in his life. HIs own assistant wonders some day about his ability to keep up his way. Can he convince Piper that they could be friends and that they could have fun together or is he better at just staying with what he knows?
I really enjoyed this book it was a fun book. I loved how Piper was a no none sense take no prisoners type attitude but was also very vulnerable. I really enjoyed Cam and his sensitive ways but his I am not going to put up with anything either. I loved his relationship with his family. If you have read The Wedding Flight you will notice that the first few chapters go hand and hand with some of that book from Piper and Cameron’s point of view but after that it takes a whole new story line and who Piper and Cam are. This book does have adult language and scenes and may not be suitable for all ages. This book is a fun book over all it was super fun to catch up with the other characters from other books.

New Beginnings

The Hamilton's a great beginning for a spin-off series from Summer Lake to Napa valley. Cameron and Piper a great couple to start with one born to wealth and privilege the other born and raised in a trailer park in Texas and could not get ahead because she was a women. When Piper comes to Summer Lake she meets Cameron and the sparks fly and another couple falling after drinking the water. I hope in the Hamilton's series we find a restaurant, bar or something where friends, family can meet to gossip about new beginnings for couples as it was in Summer Lake on the back porch at Ben's Resort. Which reminds me I hope we have a Summer Lake story for us seniors with Jack and Dan's mother and Laura's Aunt Chris also the spin off for Summer Lake Flyers hopefully will be Like and and Angel's story. The Hamilton's are great new Series for SJ McCoy I deserves the 5 *****rating a must read for everyone

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun reconnecting with Smoke (Cole) and Laura and getting to know more about Cam and Piper. Watching these two get to know each other and Cam wondering exactly how much to share with Piper, it was great that they had their moments just like a couple would in real life. I loved how Piper stood up for herself during the fundraiser with those two women in the ladies room, go Piper. These two totally deserve their happily ever after. I’m a huge fan of Mary Ellen as well and her excitement for Cam in finding “the one”, I hope she gets a future book with her HEA, especially if it ends up being her crush. Great book.

This is the 1st book in the Hamilton series, we had already met Cam and Piper in the last summer lakes book, the wedding flight.
Now we get to know more about these two characters and what a read, I absolutely loved it, SJ makes you care about all the characters that she writes about and you really feel that they could be your friends.
I don't want to give anyway any of the story as I really think if you haven't came across SJ McCoy's book before now this is the perfect place to start. SJ McCoy is now my go-to author it doesn't matter if I am reading already I will stop and start reading her new book.

This is the first in the Hamiltons series and also a spin-off from McCoy’s Summer Lake series. Laura and Cole are finally getting married. Cam, Cole’s brother, is his best man, and Piper, Laura’s BFF, is the maid of honor. Cam has a reputation that he never thought could be a problem. Piper has an inherent distrust of any male which keeps her from getting close to anyone. As they get to know one another, they realize they wish things were different. But, like in most stories, they don’t communicate what they are really feeling/thinking. That’s really about the only drama. Red Wine and Roses is what you’d expect, there are no surprises. It’s entertaining and easy to read.

Another great story from SJ!! This story is the beginning of the Hamilton children.
Cameron is Smoke’s brother and runs the vineyard in Napa. Piper is deciding to uproot her life in Texas to move to Summer Lake with her friend Laura. They meet up in Summer Lake when Smoke and Laura get married. After going back and forth and trying to work through with being in different locations and different stages of their careers, they have a beautiful, sweet love start to develop. Come on their journey with them. The Summer Lake crew make cameos!!

I’m a huge fan of SJ McCoy, so was eagerly awaiting the first in this new series, The Hamilton’s.
We’ve previously met the main characters at the end of the last series so it’s all tied in beautifully.
Cameron and Piper are two very different people from differing backgrounds, Ones Billionaire who grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth and the other in a trailer park, but when two people are meant to be, none of that matters.
If your looking for a light, loving and sexy read with no cliff hangers then this is just the book for you.
Great start, can’t wait for the next.

Cameron and Piper. What should I say? God I love them 💖 I also enjoy being back in Summer Lake. This group of friends, this town, is just something
SJ McCoy has a style in writing her books, that makes you feel being a part of it... she never disappoints!
If this will be your first book from SJ, go ahead. You won’t be disappointed. But keep the Summer Lake Series in mind! You will get hooked 😏
Thank you SJ for writing these wonderful stories.
PS: sorry for not writing anything about the story. But I don’t like to ‘spoiler’

Red Wine and Roses

This is the first book in this series. But it follows another series set by a lake.... In this story you meet Piper who is Laura's childhood friend. She has been invited to be in Laura's wedding. Cameron is the groom's brother and best man. He is also a player. Loves his women. This will bite him in this book. She is a pilot who ends up working for Cole aka Smoke. But ends up flying for Cam when his pilot is grounded. Can their affair become more? What about his past when it catches up with him? There are three more stories in this series.

I love McCoy's books, I just wish they were longer... like never-ending!

Cameron and Piper quickly make a great couple. I love Piper's zest for life and independence. Cameron doesn't disappoint either... I love that he knows what he wants and goes after it quickly. This is a sweet story that carries on McCoy's great story telling skills, love of the outdoors and bringing wonderful personalities to life for our enjoyment.

Great new series

Loved the Summer Lake series and now this, the spin off, is equally delightful. Piper and Cam’s story is everything you want in a fairytale romance. The setting is Summer Lake but you get to Napa too and meet the Hamilton’s , Smoke’s Family. Filled with great side stories that introduce us to the coming characters all adds to the charm and appeal of this book. 5 Stars all the way read it for yourself and I am confident you will enjoy it too!

The CEO and Pilot

This is another beautifully written book by SJ McCoy,
Piper has come to hope that Cameron feels the same as she dose but until he tells her he loves her she's been holding back the words.
This book has drama, in a number of ways that keeps you reading, but it's well worth buying, because you will probably read it again. ( This is my third reading! And I will probably read it again )

Red Wine and Roses was a super sweet and nice romance. That was extremely easy to read, angst free and very engaging. It was a!so full of great characters. Some of which are familiar, others not so. But it was great getting to know them all. And anyone who has enjoyed SJ McCoys Summer Lake series is sure to enjoy this spin off too.

I have loved the Summerlake series and was really interested to see how the spin off with Smokes family would turn out. I am glad to say it worked perfectly. It introduced the rest of the Hamiltons, whilst keeping us up-to-date with all our old friends there already. Definitely can’t wait to see what comes next. Loved it.

Piper and Cam

It had been a year since her mother died. There was no reason to stay. She was taking time to visit her best friend and take some time to think about what was next. She was to meet Lauren's fiance and his brother tonight. What a magical night that was.
Great story with wonderful characters

An okay story -

I don't know if it was just me or was this book a little hard to stay with. I'm not sure I will continue to read the rest of this series. I found myself getting irritated with the storyline because the character of Piper Gaines seemed to have low self-esteem and had to second guess every kind word or compliment someone made to her.
