The new dynamic with the new cast of characters was refreshing
And while much of Sara’s interaction felt a bit of rehash of Eris’s, the very different demeanour and characterisation of Rudeus made it all feel exciting and new, although in a depressive way seemed more mature, although more self deprecating as well. And this sort of fulfilled my gripes in the my previous book’s review.
It really was sudden, and it really does haunt him. The departure of Eris, as well intended as was portrayed, has left rudeus in a rut.
The plot for searching for Zenith sort of gets aside, as we see rudeus spend a year... being depressed

The prose is still the same. Again is the tendency to explain away everything, which is fine, but I am increasingly left wanting at times
However, Sara’s voice did sound a little different from rudeus’s. a gripe I’ve raised before, where I found every character to sound like rudeus.
But I must mention. This is only the case in first person povs of different characters. In places where there is 3rd person narrative, the world and characters do shine more.

The twist and the slap at the end was a bit visceral lol
Anime like tropes but done well..??

But still the question I have is, what was the reason? If these escapades with the crimsons doesn’t lead to anything them it feels like a waste of time. But I do hope that we return to them, since despite the cliche like characters, it was a good time reading Rudy interact with new people.

Still read it, still enjoyed it
Can’t say I’m going to enjoy the “high school” plot though coming next volume
They even have a student council, so it speaks to the author’s origins as well
But I digress.

I can’t wait for the long awaited reunion between the 2 most powerful mages and I hope it is done some justice.

This manga just hit all the right notes and it also happens to be the point in the anime that I totally fell for it. The rest was good, solid, entertaining, but by the time we finally got to Rudy and Paul's reunion, it was very emotional. Real, even. And both times I encountered this story, I admit I kinda broke into tears.

Sometimes, it just sneaks up on you. And even when you know it's coming, it still sucker-punches you.

It just put everything into new context, and it was truly tragic. Up to this point, it just felt like long adventure, too.

The book is nice, but a specific moments, glimpse of 3rd world mentality from the delivery makes me want to vomit. The 3 main conflicts in this book was all caused by over contemplation in a completely wrong direction, while tripping on butt obvious pittfalls through sheer stupidity. When conflict in the plot is presented through a lack of braincells on the protagonist's part, it signals a serious lack of creativity. They say in Hindi it takes 100 reincarnations to gain enough humility for Nirvana, this fatass could clearly use another 99 from the amount of ego he's oozing out and still getting all his estimates wrong.

Here is the first reunion and it was rather emotional from start to finish, actually brought a tear to my eye with the outcome of everything.

I really do like seeing genuine emotion that seems realistic and heartbreaking, its great to see and i can't wait for the other reunions.
