Adoption is hard. Paperwork and more paperwork, lawyers and more lawyers and it seems like begging and choosing....all to get your heart broken when the expectant mother backs out. Not wanting to go through that again, or put Morgan through it again; they opted out. Unfortunately, the new guy didn't get the memo and they were chosen by expectant young mother, Haley.
Morgan can't believe he's doing it again.... scared to death that it'll be like last time; he and Kingsley hope and pray things work out this time. Join the Kennedy's in this short novella down adoption lane. You'll also meet some new key people and I can't wait to share them all with you!
Join these guys on there journey to something perfect! .... Or maybe a couple things, perfect!
Jenny Wood- Stay at home mom with two amazing kids and the most supportive, ridiculously good looking, husband. :P My love of writing comes from my love of reading and I count myself incredibly lucky to live in a place where I can do what I love and hopefully, make some people happy while I do it.
In this Kingsley and Morgan focused short, we follow the pair as they (re)consider their options for adoption and are introduced to a young woman named Haley, who is determined to have the guys be daddies to her unborn twins.
This shorty got me in the feels and had me tearing up on more than one occasion. I’m not sure whether it was the particular themes being explored that got me good, or whether my love for Kingsley and Morgan (especially Morgan) is just so great that I’m now programmed to go all sappy whenever they are on page, but either way, I enjoyed this offering a lot.
I love revisiting favourite book couples, and Kingsley and Morgan are undoubtedly my favourite pair of this series. Getting a glimpse into a bigger HEA beyond their initial HEA is just icing on the cake, and surely a must-read for all fans of their original story, Kingsley.
And I see Jenny Wood is far from done with this loving and boisterous group of men, with the promise of a book seven, focusing on newly introduced characters Murphy and Cruz.
I think Kingsley and Morgan are my favorite couple of Ms Wood's so it was so nice to get to see them again and for them to get a family of their own after so much disappointment. I teared up a couple of times but you can just feel the love all around with these couples. Well, except fucking Jody. He's still having his asshole moments.
But really, the most memorable character for me is Haley. What she does is so selfless and amazing. I can't even imagine being in her shoes but she gave Kingsley and Morgan so much happiness and she wanted her babies to have the wonderful life they deserved.
I'm looking forward to Murphy and Cruz!
I hesitate to mention this because I did enjoy the book as a whole, but there are some glaring mistakes that a good editor should catch. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the story itself.
Morgan and Kingsley (my favorite couple of this series) are trying to adopt a baby, but the last mother backed out after the baby’s birth, so Morgan isn’t sure he can go through that kind of pain again...
This gave me all the warm and happy fuzzies. It was wonderful.
Marvelous novella that gives us Kingsley's and Morgan's deep love ! Get re-acquainted with Kingsley and Morgan's story, their deep love, and their attempts at adoption. Here we see the latest attempt, and meet the amazing Mom. First we get a marvelous synopsis of our wonderful guy's tale, how they met, fell in love, and are going strong five years later. This is a fascinating novella, with big hugs, warm fuzzies, and tears, too. LOVED IT !
It's a beautiful transition so we are up to date when the next book in the series gets here. Magnificent ! Loved the baby names !
Fabulous characters, hot lovin' and it warms your heart.
I think this will be my last book of the series. I am just not loving them anymore and they are very predictable. In addition, the characters are becoming very one dimensional - granted these were characters we already knew for the most part...but I still feel this story fell flat. What should have been a momentous occasion felt blah to me.
Also..wtf is up with the cover? That does NOT look like any of the Kennedy men...
The author needs to spend more time on the books instead of rushing to put out new stories and real estate in the KU world. Also, I think it's safe to say we don't need the beginning of book one in the books anymore. That is simply taking advantage of being paid for each page flipped. It's abuse of the KU program and one of the reasons I think the program should go away. Stop putting part parts of book one in the back of each consecutive book, you're up to book 7 now...we have all read book one.
After reading Morgan and Kingsley's original book #2, Getting to see them have the life they both totally 100% deserve is amazing. They are both such great guys. Dealing with what they had to at the beginning of their relationship and then having to deal with different heartaches along the way. It makes you feel good seeing their dreams come true and knowing they finally get their Full HEA...
This was book 6.5 in the "Kennedy ". Morgan and Kingsley have been through a lot with Morgan beating cancer and the way they met. They were also devastated when they were pick to adopt a baby only to have the mother change her mind. Kingsley is surprised when a social worker calls him telling him that a woman wants to meet them. This was a short cute read that I liked. I loved how the guys in this group are willing to step up and help each other. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Kingsley and Morgan.... They absolutely broke my heart in this one... and then got put back together again. I cannot imagine being in their situation and getting let down like that. I really felt for them, especially Morgan... but the way Kingsley tried to sheild him....the way he looked out for him and didn't want him hurt... sigh, I love Kingsley, so much!!!
And Haley, to be so brave... I could never do something like that, but she was so selfless. Truly wanting best for her babies. Spoilers, sorry! I love this series...I love the family! I can't wait for the next one! I need some Cruz and Murphy!
Oh whyyy wasn't this a decade longer!! You've gutted me with Morgan, simply gutted me. And I've got an even bigger crush on Kingsley, for real! I love him with the passion of a thousand suns. BURNING woman, just a burning passion! The way he loves MOrgan?? And now his babies? Why, why can't they be real people in the world that I can meet and maybe stalk, ya know?
I love this series and you're amazing. Please don't ever stop writing and please give us Murphy and Cruz, effing quick like... I need them! Also very much looking forward to Kash and Dax. I haven't forgot them lovely.
Love your stories, keep it up! 5 stars from me! Well, well, very well deserved!
Still the editing errors, but better. The characters are great again and the stories are strong. I love the way you keep the characters from prior books involved in the current books and introduce the characters. For the next book. You get a good editor, you've got it made
This is so very sweet. It does need some more editing, but the story is sound. I was very satisfied with storyline and the wrap up at the end. I enjoy this series and look forward to more from this author.
Recommend you read the first part of my review from book one - Book 1 - review
I love Kingsley and Morgan. Like, truly. I was READY. Ready to dive back in, wrap myself in the warm blanket of their love, cry a little, smile a LOT
But instead… I’m sitting here blinking into the void like: "Wait. Was that it?" On the plus side: YAY, they’re back! Yay, they’re happy! Yay, dreams came true! My little soft heart felt that. They're still adorable, still loyal as hell, still doing the soft domestic thing. But the journey? That thing we’re all supposedly here for. It felt like someone hit fast forward and then spilled Red Bull on the plot. Like damn, can y’all slow down for one beat so I can actually feel something before the credits roll?
There was just no time to really marinate in the emotional bits. And I wanted that. The connection they had in the first book - Magic. But this time around. It felt a little too surface-level. Like, yes, the love is there - but where’s the depth? Where’s the slow burn emotional growth that made me swoon the first time?
Now. Cracks knuckles. Adjusts petty crown.
Let’s talk about Jody. THE AUDACITY. THE UNMITIGATED NERVE. THE ENDLESS SUPPLY OF TOXIC MASCULINITY.
This man has been marinating in the same bitter, emotionally stunted stew since book one, and I swear, I have never seen someone so consistently insufferable, and yet still treated like he’s a misunderstood cinnamon roll who just needs a hug. BABE. No. He's not misunderstood - he’s just an asshole with a jawline. Like bro, why are you so mad? All. The. Time. You’re in love, allegedly. So maybe act like it for once! Also, can someone explain to me how we’ve gone through MULTIPLE BOOKS and no one has punched him in the throat yet? Not even a little throat tap?? Because if I have to hear him snap at one more person with his emotionally stunted rage-monster energy, I’m gonna lose my shit!
Cameron. Sweetie. Darling.WHY. ARE. YOU. STILL. WITH. HIM. I’m BEGGING you to raise your standards. This man has all the emotional maturity of a wet paper towel and you’re still sticking around like he’s got a secret stash of personality somewhere. WHERE? SHOW ME. I’ll wait. (No I won’t.)
The way he STILL treats Jase like a five-year-old... NOPE. Jase has been adulting since the second he showed up, and Jody’s over here throwing unsolicited advice like anyone asked. Sir. STOP. He’s more emotionally mature than you’ve ever been. And the excuse from like four books ago… You know the one. “I had a hard life and that's why I'm a jerk to everyone”? Yeah, no. Still trash. Still rotting. Still giving “I refuse to grow as a person and you can’t make me.” At this point, I vote we just leave him in 2017 and move on.
Now onto Murphy and Michael - our next featured couple. Murphy, the adoption specialist and Michael is the sheriff. Apparently. Except wait - didn’t Wade just get made sheriff like two minutes ago?? I distinctly remember a shiny badge moment. So either this town has a rotating sheriff schedule like a Waffle House staff or someone forgot to update the script.
But WAIT. It gets dumber. We meet Michael Cruz and Murphy Kinzer, right? Got it. All good. But then Morgan opens her mouth and suddenly we’re introducing “Murphy Cruz,” I—WHAT?! WHO?! WHO THE HELL IS MURPHY CRUZ?! Are Murphy and Cruz one person now? PICK A NAME.
And THE COVER. What. Was. That. No because I audibly laughed. It looks like they googled “Daddy Placeholder” and just… went with the first image. Girl, who is he? What does he have to do with anything? The vibe is so off I want to return it with a sticky note that says, “Try again, babe.”
Anyway. I’m still riding for this series. I still love these chaotic queers and their feelings and their found family mess. But I’m also a sucker for honesty, and this book gave me emotional whiplash, continuity glitches, and way too much Jody. Give me depth. Give me character growth. And for the love of all that is HOLY, give Jody a one-way ticket to an island where no one can hear him sulk.
10/22/2017- So sweet! I've read this whole book series and loved every one of them. Kingsley and Morgan have always been my favorites and I'm so happy they got to start their new family. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves good MM stories........
