(1) Enticed

The hero was a heretic businessman who suffered with a plane accident months ago and lost part of his memory due to his injuries. The guy struggled to hide his memory loss from his business partners and got on with his life and then.......he was shocked to be hit by the news that he had been in a smoking hot romance with a young woman he had just met on an remote island and the young woman in question is now pregnant with his child? Plus he had no idea how all of these could happen?

As a whole here is nothing challenging or outstanding in the characters and the plots of the story. 2.5 stars.

(2) A Game of Vows

Six years ago, the heroine was blackmailed into entering a fake marriage with her boss, then six months later she left him behind for good. Fast forward to six years later, the supposed ex husband came back to the girl's life with shocking news: they had never divorced and he now needed her help: the guy had lost his memory and he couldn't even recall why he did what he did to her. Dramas ensured.

I think this second story handles the topics of bad memories, secrets from the past and trauma quite well. Although I found it strange for the main couple to have seemingly no friend, I can see that the heroine is always on guard when it comes to other people because of her past but still... anyway, 3. 8 stars.

When reading A Game of Vows, I have Tarkan's In Your Eyes playing in my mind:

Did you know
That I would be all right
If I had you by my side
Do you know
If I got you in my life
In you I would confide

Something about your love
Something about your love
Something about your love

Cause its in your eyes
I feel Ive been waiting
A thous nights for you, for you
Baby you cant hide I know you feel the same
Its in your eyes, its in your eyes, in your eyes

Gonna gonna get u I don't care, I don't care whatever
Baby you're the one that I want, that I want forever

Did you think
That it would come to this, Id give in
To everything that you desire
Cause I know that we were meant to be
Its destiny
Only with you I feel alive

✭✭✭⭑-✭ I couldn’t decide…

The cover is certainly eye-catching, but it has nothing to do with the story. It has more to do with the series of books it’s printed with. They all have a bold cover with a one-word title and a one image cover art. I can’t think of one image from the story to use for this cover, so the flower alluding to the southern island might as well do. The broken plane would be too complex a picture to use.

The story is an old one but a good one and well done this time. A man wants something from a woman so he seduces her to get it. On his way back to his life something happens to change his life. He has to take a second look at the woman and this time he falls in love for real, but she finds out that he was only using her the first time, so she takes off. He has to track her down and convince her that he’s worth her time. Rafael de Luca is building his business with his three best friends, Devon Carter, Ryan Beardsley, and Cameron Hollingsworth. He’s very good at what he does and he always closes the deal. This one will put them on top. Bryony Morgan is expecting some resistance, but not “Have we met?” when she speaks with Rafael. Not only have they met, but he closed the deal, made promises, and left her pregnant. She’s furious.

The characters are believable as real people. Rafael and Bryony, of course, get lots of time to open up and be themselves. We get to know lots about them as they get to know each other again. We also get to know Bryony’s grandmother, Mamaw or Laura since she and Bryony are so close. But even cameo characters get some personality to them, like the mayor who feels he doesn’t get enough respect. He’s probably correct about that since he can’t even silence an assembly of his constituents and has to have the sheriff quiet them.

The pace is easy enough to follow. Not too fast, though Bryony is already in love with Race when he comes back to the island and he falls in love with her in just a matter of days. That was the only thing that seemed a bit “out of whack” to me. All of a sudden, this cool-headed businessman is falling in love and ready to take on being a father in just a couple of days knowing that this is not how he lived his life before his plane crash. Also, suddenly, his three buddies seemed willing to handle the business while he ran off and handled his love life at the end. No more arguments. Oh well, it did make a smooth ending.

Recommended.

Enticed Review

I’m only reviewing Enticed, which makes up less than half of this book.

I liked reading this, right up to the end. Then it fell flat. I loved reading how Rafael fell in in love with Bryony. Yes it was insta-love, but I totally fell for it; everything about this made sense. The ending came very suddenly and just doesn’t line up with the rest of the story. I think she just kind of got tired of the whole plot and ended it. If I had read this before I read book 2 (Wanted), I wouldn’t have continued with the series. Thankfully it gets better.

Amnesia story of a billionaire looking to secure a deal and the woman who claims to be his lover and the mother of his child. He doesn’t remember her and she has to convince him that what they shared was real. It ends a little abruptly after the big reconciliation without much additional fanfare and is a quick read overall in Harlequin fashion, but I do want to find out what happens with Rafael’s friends.

Cute but wished it was longer

Fun read. Great editing all around. The only drawback was the length. It felt cut off short. Makes me wonder if there's a continuous backdrop of this romance in the next book.
I don't think it's worth the 6.99 price tag( the next nook) since it's not a full-length novel.

2.5 stars.

The second story was superior to the first one. I wouldn’t bother reading either one a second time though.

Only read enticed.

It's easy to see any twists to this book and honestly I was overall disappointed because usually I like Banks' books.

Rafael is a rich businessman excited to start building a resort on land he recently purchased before his plane accident. The accident has caused Rafael to lose his memories of the four weeks he spent on the island before buying the land. A woman named Bryony shows up claiming that they spent those four weeks together falling in love before she agreed to sell him land on the island.

According to Bryony, he promised that he wouldn't develop the land, something that Bryony and the people on the island desperately don't want to happen. She only sold it to him on the condition that he wouldn't build the resort, but of course, this stipulation wasn't in the paperwork. Bryony also claims that the baby she's carrying is Rafael's. She thinks he's lied to her just to get the land and left her pregnant and now is pretending to have no memory of these events. He lets her know about the accident that took his memories and agrees to spend time on the island with her again to see if it brings any of his memories back.

Rafael's friends and business partners think Bryony is a gold-digger and are very unhappy with him going with her and halting work on the resort until he finds out what happened during his missing time. Rafe feels that something could have happened between him and Bryony on this island, he wants to believe her, but knowing the man he is he has trouble believing he could fall for her so quickly. He can't believe he'd agree to not develop the land she sold to him, and he can't believe that he would be able to relax enough to spend time with Bryony and away from his business for those four weeks they were falling in love. He doesn't want to create a rift between the two though if the baby really is his. This second time spent on the island, he does quickly fall in love with Bryony.

Rafe gets called back to his business in New York, but promises Bryony it won't be like last time, he'll return to her. Once back in New York, Rafael suddenly gets his memory back and it crushes him. He finds out that he did deceive Bryony from the start and slept with her and pretended to fall in love with her just for her to sell him the land. He would have done anything just to get the land. But he actually loves her now so it leaves him upset that he could be so manipulative to the woman he now loves. He tells Bryony how he used her the first time and she doesn't believe him that this time is any different. Rafe chases after her, gives the land back, and proposes to her in front of the whole town and she says yes to his proposal.

------------

In A Game of Vows Eduardo blackmailed Hannah to be his wife when he found out she lied about graduating from high school to get into college. She was an intern at his family's company at the time. It's now 5 years later and he's found Hannah again to convince her to come back and help his company. He also lets her know that they have remained married this whole time- he never sent the divorce papers.

I really hate Eduardo in the beginning and though I end up liking him, I still hate this side of him that blackmailed Hannah both then and now. I wish they could have ended up back together under different circumstances.

Eduardo and Hannah get to know each other better than they had before and start to fall in love, but Hannah has a big secret that is eating away at her, one that Eduardo didn't discover when he found out about her lie to get into college. She didn't finish high school because she got pregnant. She gave her son up for adoption before starting a new life with a little lie.

Her and Eduardo sleep together and the condom breaks. With Hannah's luck, she gets pregnant. Even though Eduardo is dealing with intense migraines from a horse-riding accident that makes him struggle to do daily tasks and Hannah is dealing with having given her first baby up, they agree to keep the baby.

The epilogue is so sweet. She wrote her son that she gave up for adoption a letter in case he ever wanted to contact her and in the epilogue she's received a letter back from her 18-year-old son thanking her for what she did and she finds out that he was named Benjamin. Her and Eduardo have 4 kids.

It's all really sweet despite the circumstances they've been brought together under. I think I enjoyed the second story more than the first.
