Oh goodness... I loved this novella! It was such a heartwarming story! A Harvest Bond was the first book in the Sacred Bond series that I've read and even though it's the conclusion to the series, I was never confused. I think it stands alone great. It did make me really interested in reading the previous books, though.
This story is centered around an older couple, which I really enjoyed. You don't find that often, so I thought it was very refreshing. John and Emily are at odds with each other over the direction they think the farm should go. They have really awesome ideas that would help a lot of people, but their plans are so different. It was great watching their interactions.
A Harvest Bond features an endearing love story that I enjoyed very much! I'm excited to check out the earlier books in this series!
I received a copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.
I have now read all of the dual series of Sacred Bond and Sacred Bond Guardians. And all but one stand-alone. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books. And this is a very satisfying finale.
I very much appreciated the inclusion of an older couple finding love again. There may be hope for me.
These are not soft, fluffy books. The heroes and heroines have real lives and gritty circumstances. I fell I love with the characters, in a mom way. I just wanted hold them and let them know I cared about them. Several times, like a lot, I found myself almost in tears and often gripping the edges of my kindles. And... I was very glad to have more than one kindle, as I was frequently surprised by a low battery warning. I was that engrossed.
What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive (or keep secrets). John Morreti works with trouble boys, many now grown men, married with families and serving the Lord and their communities. Emily has a dream of a women's shelter. Since they are co-owner of a property and neither wants to leave, how can their dreams get off the ground. Add in the secret of Emmanuel's father and things get more than complicated. John is a strong, in-touch-with-God Christian and shoulders a lot of responsibility, but at the same time speaks his mind. Can the past as well as present secrets be forgiven and a ministry for boys and women be forged together? That will take some talking and a whole lot of forgiving.
When Emily showed up at the farm John doesn’t know what to do.Emmanuel is a amazing young man that John takes care of. The Sacred Bond brothers are always there when another brother needs them, they are truly special people. The way Emily helps Doris is truly amazing. This book is so good you won’t be able to stop reading it. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. The reaction to this book is my honest reaction to this book. I would give it a higher rating than a five star review if I could. You will feel God working throughout this whole story.
This was a very quick read. John and Emily had a brief past relationship and moved on with their lives. Fate brings them back together again, and it appears there are still feelings on both sides. However, secrets are being kept that could ruin the progress they've made in getting to know each other again. And both of them have dreams that they don't want to give up on but don't see how they could accomplish both in the same location. A story of hope, faith, forgiveness, new beginnings, following one's dreams and one's heart, second chances, and a HEA.
This is a love story of second chances. What drew me to this book were the main characters John and Emily. They are both in their late fifties/early sixties, and it sounded like something different for a change.
A lot is packed into this short novella: two different dreams collide, past and present secrets create tension, lots of characters and emotions to keep track of, etc.
But God whom both John and Emily trust, works everything out settling people and issues and creating a blessing of a new family bond.
What a wonderful wrap up of the Sacred Bond Series. As well written and engaging as all the others. God is at the center of lives and He shows his presence in many ways. His will prevails. I have loved the humanness of the characters and their interactions. This one is definitely the frosting on the cake. Highly recommend.
The final novella of the Sacred Bond series. A touching senior love story about sowing, reaping and gathering in the harvest. Enjoyed how Emily Stern and John Moretti were able to resolve their differences about their individual visions for the Pennsylvania farm - mentoring troubled teens OR creating a rural retreat for struggling midlife women. Thought provoking read.
John and Emily had a history but had ended up married to others. Now they are alone again, except for the boys they each had raised and those get to be raised. Emily wanted to help older women who were suddenly on their own. Could a shared farm work for both dreams?
I think I need to read the other books in the series, but this one is good and it did stand alone. I'm sure the other books make it more understandable though. I like the "silver years" theme. Getting there myself, I would like to read more in the older generations. An interesting story nonetheless.
A great book. Just the right length and no fluff. I have read the whole series and have loved every book. This is an author that I will read everything she writes. Thanks For great, fun, clean books.
I absolutely love 💘💘💘this series! I have read all of the books.....all of them....and they never disappoint! I enjoy seeing the characters interwoven in all of the stories. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ENTIRE SERIES!! Now....we need a next gen series with the children!!
John and Emily each kept secrets which hurt others. As Christians, they needed to forgive and move forward. Loved the symmetry Emily mentioned at the end of book. Highly recommend.
A late in life romance about faith and forgiveness. Emily and John have a past that is parallel to their future. Secrets are revealed and decisions have to be made. I'm sure the backstory of other couples would fill in the blanks.
Although part of a series, this novella can becread separately. I enjoyed the characters and am looking forward to getting to know them more in the rest of the series.
A wonderful finale to a wonderful series. I like that series started and ended with John finding love. I enjoyed reading all the books in this series. I recommend the series to anyone.
Emily has plans but when she gets to the farm, someone else is living there.
John and the boy he is caring for are living at the farm. How can this work. Not at all! Emily says it is hers, left to her by her husband. John also inherited it from her husband. This looks really bad.
