Lime Peak Ranch is home to the Dumont and Ruggles families who raise cattle, train horses, and compete in PRCA rodeos. Life down the dirt road isn’t as perfect as it seems and secrets have roots deeper than the maple trees.
Bonnie Ruggles has to leave the Lime Peak Ranch but her marriage is in pieces scattered from the house to the barn. Dallas isn’t speaking to her, his hurt bigger than any words. When tragedy strikes, Bonnie is called home to be with her husband. Their relationship is changing and only by revealing the truth can they start anew. Tearing up secrets with roots this deep can cause more damage than these two might be able to handle. Ellie Dumont Labrum should be living in wedded bliss, but with the death of his father, Logan pulls farther and farther away. Missing the closeness they’d barley glimpsed, Ellie tries desperately to pull her husband out of his grief, Porter Dumont is destined for greatness. He sells his plot on Lime Peak Ranch—his inheritance—and leaves the ranch and family behind to chase the music to Nashville. If he can make this work, he’ll be the biggest name to come out of the ranch. George and Carol Dumont struggle to make a new life out of the ashes of their old love. They want the same things, but Carol has to trust—a task that isn’t easy when she’s been singed. If she can find confidence in her new situation, their love can finally be free from the fears that hold them back. Olivia Dumont is falling in love with Dr. Robert Canton. They would be a perfect fit if it weren’t for the fact that he is leaving at the end of the month. Not wanting to give him an ultimatum, Olivia steps back from their budding relationship. But without incentive to stay, Robert struggles to decide if he and his son, Jax, should go back to Seattle or make a home on the ranch.

This Lime Peak Ranch Series which includes THE UNEXPECTED GROOM, A MUCH-ANTICIPATED BRIDE, and A COWBOY’S PROPOSAL is an unusual series in that nearly every character is equally prominent in all three books. One could make the case that this series is not really a series, but is actually a single 658-page novel about two very close-knit families that make up the Lime Peak Ranch. Fortunately, all three books were released at the same time because this is a series that absolutely demands the books be read in sequence as if they were one book, which they really are. As I began reading it took a while to become acquainted with the rather large number of main characters. The author uses a very effective technique where each short chapter advances the story through the eyes of a different protagonist, so it took a while to be fully introduced to all the protagonists. As a result, it took a little persistence to finally get fully into the story. Once fully involved, I was captivated. I would have awarded this series five stars had the author respected her readers enough to ensure her manuscript was free of editorial mistakes before releasing it for publication. I become frustrated when an editorial oversight disrupts the flow of the story. Most aggravating were the instances when Porter and Logan were confused for each other in the narrative, i.e. when Porter was in Nashville but was identified as being part of a conversation with Logan. This happened more than once. There were numerous instances of incorrect word usage. Did the proof readers even read the manuscript? However, the author is ultimately responsible and must take the heat for uncorrected errors. Four stars for this work. Clean it up and you get the five stars it really deserves.
An awesome, contemporary romance. This is the third book in the saga concerning the Dumonts, the Ruggles, and the Labrums. Ellie and Logan have married (book 1). George and Carol have recommitted (book 2). Both of these couples work to improve their relationships. Olivia and Robert dance around each other looking to the future. Bonnie and Dallas struggle to overcome the lies and deception of their past.
Heartbreak and heartwarming emotions weave through this tale. Forgiveness and healing are the stalwart promises. The end is delightful.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Bonnie Ruggles and her husband Dallas are at odds – he can’t understand her need to get away from the ranch for a few days. While she’s in New York City, he has a stroke. Ellie Dumont Labrum and Logan deal with his father’s death. Porter Dumont tries to find his way to a music career in Nashville, but gets scammed, and Olivia Dumont is falling in love with Dr Robert Canton. The family saga continues with this heartwarming but thought provoking book.
I love this continuing series however you need to watch your editing. There are several instances where not only the ranch name is not correct but the character names get mixed up especially Levi and Jax. This happens in all three of three books but mostly in this third volume.
Chapters 41-42, the kids names (Jax and Levi) got switched around. Other than that, it’s been a great series. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Well done. I wasn’t expecting all the alternating perspectives and story-lines but I ended up really liking this series. Be aware that if you start this you are committing to read all 3 books or you will be left with only pieces of an entire family drama that unfolds. This isn’t a read one and done type of book. You need to start with book 1 and read all 3 books so be prepared to read 600+ pages if you start book 1.
There are some editing errors but they didn’t take away from my love for this characters. This is a complex family drama with lots of pieces that all came together very nicely by the end of the 3rd book. This is a great series that is definitely worth reading. You can read these 3 books and be done as they stand alone or you can read about other side characters in the world of Country Brides & Cowboy Boots.
All the things I said reviewing the first in this series are still true. This is a really good Christian romance series and hopefully there's more coming but I'd really like to see the proofreading problems fixed.
What a wonderful trilogy. So addicting I had no choice but to finish all three books in three successive evenings. Lucy McConnell paints beautiful pictures with her words!
