A (seriously) never-ending supply of adult romance featuring disabled heroes who are oh-so-sexy.
May contain very disturbing situations, dubious consent, and graphic violence. Or fluffy romance. Who knows?
This is a collection of contemporary romance , military romance , mafia romance , and dark romance . Includes scenes and short stories with strong language, mature content, drama, and angst. Plus a few giggles. Fans of Me Before You and Flowers from the Storm will appreciate these little snippets of the wounded hero romance genre.
Romance with wounded heroes, disabled characters, alpha males, and angst.
Annie doesn’t like long walks on the beach, getting dolled up, or fairy-tale endings with a boringly perfect hero. She’d much rather be rock climbing, shooting guns, or ending on real love with a deliciously imperfect hero. And hugs. She likes hugs.
She also has a B.Sc. in Biology and feels kinda sorta weird referring to herself in the 3rd person.
This is a real roller coaster of a ride. It snaps you from joy to pain to wonder to anger, all in little tiny bites of purple prose. Goodness me but it's clever.
This author is not for those who are fans of cozy or twee, and neither is any of this book as artless as it appears. Annie Arcane is definitely mistress of her craft.
Recommended to shake your brain and other vital organs into action.
Annie Arcane has a truly unique and seriously perceptive style of writing. While keeping things fairly light, she can go to the dark side of emotional turmoil and back again in a flash! Her ability to create truly broken heroes, is incredible, just as her heroines have all of the sass and compassion that are needed. There is a touch of humor, some sparks of passion, pain and above all, love.
As Ms. Arcane gives us snippets of her thoughts, her ideas and her tales, they are always entertaining, no matter the topic! Sure, she is cornering a niche in the romance department with her wounded heroes, but she knows how to bring even her “flashes” of brilliance on home perfectly. IN A FLASH is just the tip of the iceberg of this charming authors talents, and she always delivers!

And now let me tell you a mystery I love this book …
Maybe its because the stories are not really stories – they are more glimpses on what could be. They are full of possibilities They feel like a catalog i could select one And tell the author to write me the rest
So please be aware of the following : this is not an anthology or not really even a collection of short stories. I personally would encourage you to read Hart Broken (Cale & Mickey #1) by Annie Arcane first before touching this book. You need to get a feeling for the writing style of this author and her humor as it is quite unique.
Also you would not be able to understand some of the stuff – not only because you do not know Cale but also you would not get the way its meant. At least that’s what I think – but hey I could be totally wrong – who knows – I knew Cale before I read this book so I was laughing my a** off.
I just wrote book – but I was hesitating … really it is not a book. I tried to describe my feeling earlier here when I said it is like a catalogue. But it is more in a way. I puts a finger right in the middle where it hurts in one story. And in the next it gives the reader a wink. Then it raises an eyebrow . And two seconds later you are laughing… when 5 seconds after that you feel like chocking, trying to stifle a tear or two.
The sequences you will read will seriously only last a page or two but they will be enough to find yourself nooding at certain situations and some will make your heart skip a beat. For me – personally – they made me write the author and tell her that I want each and every story in there written and honestly Ms. Arcane … I WAS SERIOUS ABOUT THAT …
Flash stories kinda drive me crazy because they are too short for me. I start getting pulled into a plot and then feel like I was dropped from the top of a tall building. Annie is a quirky unique writer and you never know what she will put on the page, but expect it to be fun and intoxicating.
I'm so fucking confused right now! What exactly is this book supposed to be about? I see all the five star reviews and that shit just confuses me even more because was this even a book? I understand its like snippets, but of what exactly? I couldn't tell who was who, what was what..etc.
I've never read anything from this author and that can account for my confusion of this strange read, so yeah only one star because stories need to make sense and this one, well it left much to be desired.
I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED A COPY OF THIS BOOK IT WAS OK NOT SOMETHING I REALLY WOULD HAVE PICKED IF THERE HAD BEEN MORE INFORMATION ON WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT. I REALIZE IT WAS ABOUT HEREOS BUT IT WAS THE WAY IT WAS WRITTEN IT JUST WASN'T FOR ME I SKIPPED ALOT OF PAGES DIDNT HOLD MY INTEREST I DON'T USUALLY GIVE A POOR REVIEW BUT THIS WAS A LITTLE DECEIVING SO SORRY THAT'S JUST MY OPINION I HONESTLY CAN'T SAY I WOULD RECOMMEND TO READ.
