Ashes to ashes. Dust to life? What is buried must not come back…but what happens when it does?
Meg must face unimaginable questions after the death of her abusive father. The old family home lies deep in the woods of Cedar Valley, Oregon—a place she never thought she would return to—and it is her job to clear out years of her father’s hoarding and place the house on the market. One week of work, then Meg is back out of town and free again.
The past returns with her first step over the threshold. A mother, who abandoned her as a young child, haunts her dreams. A beloved aunt, dead eleven years, conveys warnings to Meg from her decaying mouth. Soon, she is faced with a choice she thought she had left behind all those years ago:
Run away from the home that never truly left her mind and hope this time it stays in Oregon. Or stay and uncover the truth about herself and the women in her family that came before her.
This book is a breath of fresh air in the horror genre! I am a huge Stephen King fan, and I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed this book! The story line is extremely compelling (and sucks you in), but also the mystery of what is going on, and all of the horror scenes! Her writers voice is truly perfect and the story line is easy to follow along. I cannot wait for the second book in the series to come out, and I also hope to see this author on the top selling lists! Absolutely phenomenal!
A spooky page turner. Renee paints a picture with her words that create haunting imagery I can’t forget....just what I look for in a horror read. Ready for Book 2!
I absolutely loved this book. Renee has created amazing characters that, if they had been put into a basic plot line, still would have pulled me in. Fortunately, the plot line was anything but basic. Weird sounds in an old house, witches, magic, and other weird things? They all make for a book that refused to let me sleep for days, even after I had finished it. I can’t wait until the next one is out and I highly recommend you look into this while I wait (somewhat patiently).
