Copperhead Creek #5

A Chance for Snow

With a double wedding and Christmas fast approaching, love is in the air—or is it?

Of course Debra Franklin is looking forward to her best friend’s wedding; she just wishes she wasn’t dateless again, because even though she’s made plans to leave the small-town gossips behind, she knows the wedding photos with her looking like a spinster will last forever. But when the tall-dark-and-handsome Jim Mitchell, with his cobalt blue eyes shadowed by an American cowboy hat, appears on the scene just a week before the wedding she reckons her problem of being dateless might just be solved.

Megan Saunders has always wanted a White Christmas, and this year she’s having one—in Canada. But getting her wish is a double-edged sword as it means having less time with her best friend, Porter Murray, before he leaves for university. She’s getting her childhood wish fulfilled, so why does her future feel as bleak as a dusty road leading nowhere?

As Debra’s and Jim’s paths cross with the teenagers, they form unusual friendships—and their lives are changed in surprising ways.

This is the fifth book in the Copperhead Creek Australian Romance series, set in the small town of Willows, where lives overlap and tangle.

At the age of five S M Spencer's life changed when she was plonked onto a black & white pony for a photograph. From that day on all she wanted was a horse. She spent the next eleven years writing stories about the horses she pretended to ride through the rolling hills of coastal California until she got a job and bought her first horse at the age of sixteen.

In the 1980's her life changed again when her employer offered her a role Australia. This was the beginning of an adventure of which she has never tired.

Still living in Australia she now writes from the semi-rural home she shares with her husband, horses, cats and dogs--not to mention the mob of kangaroos that share the paddocks with the horses from time to time.

Her current series, Romancing the Californian Cowboys, is contemporary romance with just a touch of spice, lots of horses, and both Australian and American characters.

Her second series is the Copperhead Creek Australian Romance series. This is light contemporary/rural romance as well as a murder mystery in book six, set within the Golden Triangle outside Melbourne. All books can be read as stand-alone titles.

The first series she wrote is a YA paranormal romance trilogy, Absent Shadows, which is set mostly in Australia.

I’ve had this book on my kindle for years. So long I’m not even sure why I bought it when it is number 5 in a series!

SM Spencer focuses on two romances; one is a couple of teens and a sweet first romance, the second is an age-gap romance which I found was well portrayed and believable.
I really liked that this was a clean romance story and a HEA was assured.

I enjoyed the friendship between Debra and Megan and the fact Megan had someone older she could talk to about her feelings for Porter.
I think I would have connected better with the characters if I’d read the previous books first as characters from the other books in the series do pop in and out of the story.

If you are after something sweet and light and you don’t mind your romance peppered with angst I recommend A Chance For Snow for a nice quick beach read.

Ms Spencer's latest book, A Chance for Snow, is a heart-warming story, beautifully written story about love, sacrifice, disappointment and fulfilment. I loved the two stories intertwined, and how a person's age doesn't always define their level of wisdom. I have read all of Ms Spencer's books, and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them.

A Heart -Warming Story

I love this author! This story, like all her stories, has an interesting theme with interesting characters. It is so well-written and has plenty of interesting activities and events; but the last part of the book has such a beautiful emotional feel. It's just heart-warming. I loved it.

A Chance For Snow

Yet another wonderful tale packed with lovable characters from author SM Spencer! I'm sorry to see this is the last of the series. I hope there will be more in the future. I devoured the whole series in only three days and am hungry for more!

Just as Debra is moving out of town, she meets Jim, an older guy who isn't concerned about her past. The two of them start to date and also mentor a younger teenage couple, Porter and Megan. Both couples have some things to work out because of their ages: Porter and Megan are too young, and Debra and Jim have a big age difference.
It probably would have helped to read the earlier books in the series as there's a subplot where I didn't know what was going on. Megan and Porter are a cute couple and the author portrays their teenage angst pretty well. I didn't relate as well to Debra and Jim. Her 'Double D' thing didn't make a lot of sense to me, and I couldn't really get where he was coming from either. It's a clean romance that I'd rate 3 and 1/2 stars.

A Chance for Snow (Copperhead Creek - Australian Romance Book 5) by S M Spencer

A book I found a lot of storyline lost. Was not sure where a Chance for Snow came in to play .slightly confused until the end .
I will read another book expecting her ending like this one

Sweet double love story

The intertwined stories of 2 couples, one young, the other with an age gap, with each learning from the other. There is also a double wedding (couples from a previous book). Sweet and clean story of appreciating what you have, including love
