In Morocco, tourists and merchants once packed the winding alleys and expansive markets of Tangier. Now there are only Skulls. Captain Dominic Holland and the Hunters pursue the mysterious organization responsible for the Oni Agent straight into the ravaged city. But something more frightening than anything they’ve encountered awaits.
Across the Atlantic, Colonel Jacob Shepherd is tasked with delivering a key enemy scientist to the United States Government. But no journey at the end of the world is without disaster. Faced with a mission derailed by catastrophe, Shepherd must make an impossible choice to save his country—and the world.
Anthony J Melchiorri is a scientist with a PhD in bioengineering. Originally from the Midwest, he now lives in Texas. By day, he develops cellular therapies and 3D-printable artificial organs. By night, he writes apocalyptic, medical, and science-fiction thrillers that blend real-world research with other-worldly possibility. 'Dead Ashore', book #6 of the The Tide series, was probably the most exciting and suspenseful of the series so far. There was incredible Skull battles (equivalent to what we consider zombies) which resulted in an enormous amount of horrible losses to Dom and his team of Hunters. The Skulls are much more evolved than the "common" zombie as they have skull like protrusions all over their bodies, making them much much more difficult to penetrate and kill. They are also much more evolved in thinking. They can strategize and plan. Then there are the hybrids, who are still part human and have a lot of hatred towards the Skulls. Many of whom allied themselves with the humans, explaining how they Skulls think, and what makes them come together to attack. The suspense, action and incredible writing by author Anthony J. Melchiorri continues to keep me riveted and eager to continue on to the next episode, in which (according to the end of this episode), there are even more horrific trials in store for the Hunters as they move forward in their quest to find a cure for the (as of yet) impenetrable Oni-Agent responsible for wiping out most of humankind - via death or a painful transformation into a Skull. The narration by Ryan Kennard Burke is extraordinary. He gives an autonomous voice to each character (child, male, female, and monstrous Skulls alike), making Mr. Melchiorri's intense storylines frustratingly difficult to pause.
Captain Holland and his team of Hunters are on the sea (and on the road) searching for trouble. Spitkovsky trouble, that is.
After feebly fighting the boney skin of the Skulls, running from the rampage of the terrifying Goliaths, dodging the acid drippy drool of the Droolers and trying to discover the secret of the mysterious Titans, they are trying to uncover the diabolical plots of Spitkovsky and his minions.
Apparently, they also have to deal with the new spread of the Oni-Agent which may now be airborne.
Can this team get a break?
This episode has a lot of breath holding action. A lot of scary thrills. A lot of violence.
I’m constantly unable to breathe while I’m biting my nails and hoping for the best when the Hunters are in the field.
5 stars. Just an amazing, all-around kick-ass story that even though it was depressing as hell in spots was written with aplomb and a level of skill that I really have to salute (oh and the editing remains an impressively strong point for all of these books, so bravo to the whole team!). Melchiorri really found his groove with this chapter of the series, taking us from one parallel story-line to another with what I think was the most adept level of writing acumen we've seen so far! And what a story! Or stories. However you want to put it!
As I continue my non-stop "Tide Read-A-Rama" (tm pending), these books just become ever more thrilling and ever more personal as the connection to the cast becomes so much more real feeling. We care about SO MANY people by now and again, the author has found a true groove in terms of letting us into the hearts and minds of the full cast and really there aren't any 'back-up characters' anymore! And with the 'additions' in the overall war this time - from the Portugese soldiers to the Moroccan survivors, to the Hybrids and so many more - its just turning into one amazing KABOOM of tension, thrills and just plain fun! Wowzers, what's next?
I really don't know what more to say at this point. At least this time I read so much during the day that I can go to be before 3 a.m. But there's no stopping this ride and I'll be back at it tomorrow slamming Book 7 into my greedy brain!
SOLDIERS INTO SUBSTITUTE TITANS, HOW MUCH WORSE CAN IT GET?
Another super great book in this series where someone has made an agent that turns people into "Skulls", but can it get any worse? Yes it can as they can also turn them into "Titans & Goliaths. This wound be bad enough, but the "Hunters" are on their way to Tangiers, trying to find out what is going on in that country also if possible, what happened to a Team of Navy Seals that have disappeared. Just when the Hunters can't believe they've seen it all, they find something that shocks them to their core. Anthony Melchiorri has done another amazing job with this series but adding what I believe is the best book of the series yet. Besides book #1 bringing this all into play, this one hands down is my favorite. If I Could give this more than the 5 star rating, I definitely would. Thank you Anthony J Melchiorri, bring on Book #7.
Another gripping page turner from Mr. Melchiorri. I am totally hooked on this series. The writing has made me hearken back to the old Hardy Boys series of books I read back when I was very young. In those books each chapter ended in a cliffhanging climax that thoroughly compelled the reader to turn the page and continue. Melchiorri uses a similar method in this series and actually even steps up the page turning enthusiasm by having the characters splitting up to accomplish multiple tasks and then having each of the character's stories end in cliffhanging climaxes...often several in one chapter. I find myself churning through this series of books with such enthusiasm that I have completed the first six books in the series in 22 days and will begin the seventh book at the conclusion of this writing. Well done, Anthony Melchiorri...I am a huge fan and am recommending your books to everyone I know.
Sometimes, I get really into a book and I get kind of bummed out when it ends. This is definitely one of those times. I got so into the story that I didn't realize I was almost at the end. Really good books sometimes just feel like they shouldn't end. Tide 6 picks up where 5 lets off. The Hunters are still trying to stop madness from overtaking the entire world and suffering various setbacks in the chaos around then. Things go even more crazy with the realization that there are scarier things out there than anybody realized before. Hold on tight and keep your wits about you. It gets crazier all the time. Liking forward to book 7!
Again, Wow! Anthony has done it again. Just when I thought he’d run out of plot, Anthony found a new twist. Hybrids! I had a feeling that was what Matsumoto was looking for in the beginning, the Ultimate Soldier, not really a Hybrid, it works out very well for the storyline. We already saw the Giants and Titans with nominal control (maybe) over the skulls but this just adds to the excitement of the story. How can the Hunters stop all 40 locations from gaining control over the Skulls and destroying what’s left of mankind? I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Book six had much less action than books 1-5 but was just as good. I'm a little surprised. I had thought after book 4 that the series would wrap up in books 5 or 6; however, book 6 set up to continue the series possibly indefinitely. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I've read some other REALLY GOOD story lines that REALLY went to crud because the author went to such lengths to add plot twists that were just out there. I'm still super excited about this series and can't wait for book 7.
I've enjoyed this series thus far, but this was my least favorite entry. Here, our heroes try to infiltrate a Moroccan port where the Oni agent is about to be distributed throughout the world. Of course, they meet up with plenty of resistance with the Skulls and the Russian and Iranian coalition who plan to unleash the agent. Plenty of action and adventure that I have come to expect with all these books. But the new Skull monster introduced at the end had me shaking my head in disbelief. I hope book #7 is better, but after this, I'm not in any hurry to continue this series.
This series just keeps getting better and better. So much action and suspense keeps you as an active participants in the story line just can't wait to start the next book. Book seven ghost fleet. I think anyone who enjoys action and if the world suspense should definitely read this series I might read it again!
I'm going to get my son started on these he always reads what ever I recommend and then he can get some of his friends to read to
The action gets more intense with more death, more advanced skulls with more determined enemies, more plot twists, and allies in unexpected places. The characters are more fleshed out with more purpose being given to the resolution of the problem. The total premise of the story is in the realm of possibility due to the problem being a biological agent. This is a very good continuation to the series.
A storm is coming and the Hunters might not be able to halt the tide. Shocking, gut-wrenching horror fills this book and I was glued to it. The progression of the Oni agent and its ability to change is what makes this so frightening. *I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, my opinions are my own *
This series just gets better with every book, just when you think things couldn't get worse for Captain Dominic Holland and the Hunters they do. The skulls are becoming smarter faster and uglier but Holland and the team will do their best to get answers and find a way to save those who they can. I can not wait for the next book so I can inhale it like I did this one lol
Dead Ashore is an exceptional addition to one of my favorite post-apocalyptic series. Anthony Melchiorri does not disappoint with this latest fictive nail biter. Dom and his courageous Hunters can barely catch their breath before faced with another agonizing mission. The intensity doesn't let up.
If you’re a fan of this genre, don’t browse past The Tide. Highly recommended!
Amazing, as always. The sixth installment in the series has the Hunters investigating the possibility of an airborne version of the Oni Agent. What they actually find turns out to be pretty chilling, but I won't spoil it here! If you haven't read this series,YOU NEED TO!
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This series continues to be excellent. The story remains focused, the characters are either liked or hated, as the case may be, and it keeps the reader interested. Some books have gone completely off the rails by the time you get to book 6 in the series, this series is definitely remaining true to it's original premise.
As the action continues so does the determination of the main characters who continue to seek out an antidote and the criminal organization / rogue military who devised the pathogen in their attempt to succeed. Succeed at what ?, You will just have to read this 6th book to find out. A high action read....
Dead Ashore continues the high standards I've come to expect from this series. Fantastic world building, the continuation of the threat from the Oni, from droolers to Goliath's and everything in between.
The author has a wonderfully devious mind -- one I'd love to crawl around in and explore (in a writing way, not in creepy stalker way).
The series of events and occurrences that make me feel like I am there with them. I have been waiting for the next of the best books I have read and enjoyed in years as they ebb and flow in battle or emotions is a pleasure to read and allow my mind to build the pictures of the events occurring on the page
Dead Ashore provides exactly that. Lots of dead on shore. And more. There’s the requisite gunfire’s, being chased by Skulls and such, and the Hunters trying to prevent an apocalypse from getting worse. There is no easing of the energy and adrenaline rush. You know it’s a good book when you gasp and shout ‘look out!’.
Genuinely did not think this series could possibly continue to surprise me 6 books in. I’m addicted to the fast paced action paired with the well developed plot line that is constantly evolving!! I can’t wait to start the next book but I’m also nervous because I’m completely attached to all of the characters.
I hate reading the last page of this series. It means I have to wait for the next one. This is an absolute "must read". I feel like I'm right there in the book with all these totally believable characters through the bravery and terror that their lives are.
I devoured book 6 after a long break from reading book 5. It was a thrill to read & I loved the actions, character interactions, and each character's internal thoughts throughout the book. It really helped me imagine each scene.
Dom and his Hunters continue the fight against the Oni Agent and now the source of it the FGL. Coming across the new hybrid skulls has brought a new enemy to the forefront. This was another great book in the Tide Series, and now into book number 7.
Melchiorri is a master of science, and his ingenious variations are nightmarish. The way he writes the fighting, and the pain, you're right there with it. I highly recommend this series.
Blending nerve racking military action with terrifying creatures of unimaginable nightmare, Mr. Melchiorri delivers a gut-punch, adrenaline adventure. Looking forward to the next installment.
The book was rather interesting as it went thru its twists and turns. You start to wonder what they really had in mind decimating the world . With the weapons they have they would have a world almost devoid of humanity .
If I could give this series 10 stars, I would! Very well written by someone who obviously knows his stuff - I don't try tho understand it, just enjoy it lol!! Book 6 is as gripping as book1 and I will DEFINITELY be getting the next one!!
As good as this series is, the first 4 books still had the best of the best. Yes, the author is giving more info and more problems or skulls but this book isn't as good as the others. But, as part of the series the characters are good and the story is regular.
