Kuch Woh Pal by Subrat Saurabh - An Adolescent Poetry
Kuch Woh Pal by Subrat Saurabh is a sincere debut effort by the author in poetry genre. This collection of 51 poems in 73 pages though pours Subrat's heart out in expressing his feelings and suffering but there is a lot of scope of polishing his talent in this regard. In fact, it takes some different kind of energy to enhance your writing skills and expressing your ideas in a better way. But if the zeal stays intact, anybody can achieve it with key ingredients like practice, discipline, and introspecting. The fire within works faster and better than any push from outside. Many poems start in a very promising manner but soon lose track thus resulting in the reader losing interest. At times, you might feel reading a poem from Sunday magazine entertainment section of a newspaper. Or it might appear like a poem from a school magazine.
Maturity level brings a right kind of gripping and intensity in poetry. If that is missing, it may lose track in creating a factor of curiosity in the reader's mind. Poetry is a softer side of writing. That is why taking care of fragility is more important in it. Sometimes writing a review becomes difficult especially for a book having a unidirectional approach and not much of depth in writing. Very few pages, lack of versatility, no rhythm, lack of energy, and immature level of expression are some of the shortfalls in Kuch Woh Pal by Subrat Saurabh. It looks like a bouquet of flowers but which are dull and colorless probably in lack of a perfect curator. Despite having an urge to express, the expression itself loses track repeatedly.
Maturity is something that is very important in writing. If there is a flow, it creates continuity. Continuity creates a connection with its readers. And a connect further creates interest. This is extensively missing in Kuch Woh Pal by Subrat Saurabh. I could not find those elements of connecting, continuity, and flow. It looks like a collection of a beginner in the field. A deeper level of thoughts, introspection, and intensity is missing. There is too much of echo of similar kind of thoughts, feeling, and ideas. Poetry, in particular, has to be fewer words and more expression with a good amount of warmth and comfort. It is something that comes from the heart in a powerful manner and connects to the mind and heart of the reader with the same impact. Now, that doesn't mean author 's failure.
A stumbling on the first step doesn't prove lack of power. And, at times, it is important to learn the kind of gravity any good poetry contains by reading some world-class poets. As of now, most of the poems are monotonous and without a soul in it. Let us look at a poem by Subrat Saurabh in Kuch Woh Pal and understand what could have been better. You are now alone is the title of a poem on page 45. The beginning comprising of first four lines itself is unimpressive. Otherwise, the title though sets a different kind of tone and perception in mind. But the moment you start reading the poem, it seems all the four lines have no sync with each other and neither with the title. The same is the case with most of the other poems. None, I would say, is exceptional in that regard.
I don't read hindi books because I find difficult to read them, but as I heard alot of this one I picked it n was happy, surprised at the same time. The short poems in book were heart touching n no one could tell it's a debut book. I definitely loved it and I think everyone should give it a try, it contains pure poems which are definitely worth reading. My Ratings: 4.5⭐

Review-
Kuch Woh Pal- Something like memories of past moment.
From the start this takes you on a completely new journey of love. Every word makes the reader feel what an Author would have gone through. A book filled with true feelings and pure words. I never came across such a wonderful book in Hindi. Makes the reader read the book like it's his own story. Sometimes memories show you complete new way to move around life and this book will show you a better way.
Books like these are worth spending nights without sleeping.
Kuch Woh Pal by author Subrat Saurabh is a beautiful collection of Hindi poetry. The book reflects the journey of a young lad woven artfully into verses. It depicts the journey of a boy from the time when he first leaves his house and goes through what all he faces during his time out of his home. It also includes the love poetry and the poetry that depicts the final submission of the soul into the almighty.
To share some of my personal favourite excerpts from the book, I would start with the tagline of the book: " वो हजारों में एक है, मेरी मोहब्बत का वो ईनाम है, वो इम्तिहान है मेरे सब्र का, इसलिए चर्चा सरेआम है।"
Another favourite is, " सपनों की उड़ान लिए, वो कल ही खड़ा था इस मोड़ पे। पर जीतने की एक होड़ में, वो हार गया जिंदगी से।।
This imparts a clear message that life is unpredictable, you can keep on planning about your future but if it's all destined the other way, all the dreams and plans shatter.
To sum up, this book is a short, beautiful and engaging read. Get your copy soon on Amazon.in.
I got a chance to interact with Subrat during World Book Fair Delhi and grabbed his book. I like the way he has experimented with his book. A perfect read for hindi readers which is a poetic journey of a young boy. What a beautiful line " वो इम्तिहान है मेरे सब्र का इसीलिए चर्चा सरेआम है
Amazing narration of emotions into poems. All the poems belong to different genre yet have amazing depth and emotional wavelength. Though first book of poet, poems touch hearts. Superb.

Publication- notionpress Pages- 73 Genre- Poetry My Ratings- 4.5/5
☆Kuch woh pal is poetic collection of stories. Each poem tells a different story. Author tried to bind so many stories by way of poem in this book, in which he is quite successful. My favourite poem- ▪︎क्योकि आज मेरा शहर छुट रहा था। ▪︎जाने क्यो हम अपना शहर छोड़ के आए हैं।
☆Title of book is suitable. ☆Language is quite simple but all poetries are good enough to bind the reader. ☆Definitely recommend this Book to everyone.

Thanks to Blogadda for sending across a review copy of this book.
This is a 75 page book which can be finished in one go. However, reading a collection of poems is unlike reading fiction. When you read fiction, once you finish it, you have no fixation to read it again. This book, demands reading it over and over to understand the essence of it. Every time you browse through the pages of this book, you get to dive deep into the ecstatic world of words woven so beautifully. It is like a web from which you would deny to escape.
The poems are mostly about the author's experiences of staying away from home and working in a distant city and some exhibiting a broken heart's pain. All of these are penned in contemporary style of writing. One good part is that none of these seem to be inspired by any other poet's work, they are all afresh. The poems are all composed in different writing styles. I especially liked the ones that are based on nostalgia, the ones that depict the pain of being away from home and family, the remembrance of childhood and the fragrance of memories of one's native place.
One thing that I expected from this book is something more than a lover's pain and sadness. The poems could have been set in vivid moods. Although, every poet has a genre, a way of writing and thinking. However, I am anticipating all this in the subsequent books from the author.
I underlined a few lines from many poems, which I liked very much and read again and again. I was willing to add them to this post but that would have been a spoiler :) Hence, I refrained from doing that! The shayari at the end is like cherry on the cake, quite mesmerizing.
I myself am fond of reading and writing poems, and hence, can sense the immense efforts put on to write what is apparently a thin book. In the world where you have easy access to poems and prose online, it is a endearing experience to hold one such book. These days, when you can easily type in your thoughts on the web, it is hard to find one such collection as a book. You cannot replace the feel of holding a book over any other digital media.
Overall its a quick read, recommended for those who understand and admire poetry rather than SMS and Whatsapp jokes. Those who are into writing poems can also get a lot of inspiration from this collection. I rate this book 3.5 on 5.
