Squeezed and Shaken: Though Provoking Meditations on Living Cross Culturally

Rate this book
Living cross-culturally can turn our world upside down and inside out. It squeezes and shakes us in ways we hadn't imagined. What spills out when we get shaken up is a result of what is deep inside of us. Living cross culturally squeezes and shakes us personally, mentally, and philosophically. Everything we think we know must be re-evaluated.

Through the use of short stories, Scripture studies and practical suggestions, Squeezed and Shaken will challenge you with thought-provoking perspectives and encourage you to get the most out of living in a new culture. This book is a must-read encouragement for anyone willing to be squeezed and shaken in their relationship with God.

Lots of really great content in this book for processing and handling the emotional impact of a cross-cultural move. I think that the processing homework for each chapter was a little too intense for the size of the chapter and would have preferred just a simple reflection question. This book almost lost a star for me because of the editing, though. There were some noticeable grammatical errors.

A good book for those stepping into a new culture but has the potential to tempt readers to contextualize the gospel or the convictions God has helped build in their lives.

Written from the POV of someone who has engaged in cross-cultural student ministry for many years of her life. Raw difficulties of life overseas, practical considerations and lessons that she has learned from. There was a lack of structure to this book, just short tidbits and thoughts; it read more like a series of journal entries.
