Quick read found thanks to Kindle Unlimited. Good story but atrocious editing (words missing or bad English, not sure which). It was a different take on shapeshifter stories and I liked the characters. I would have liked to have read more of Sam and the brothers. There was sex and multiple partners but no relations between the related. While descriptive, the scenes weren't particularly extensive. Regardless of what it was lacking, the characters were interesting enough for me to want to read more of Ms. Perdita's writing.
First of all, M/M/M/M/M/M, so if that doesn't float your boat, you are looking at the wrong book to read.
There were some interesting ideas about the paranormal world that I hadn't encountered before. If only for that reason, this was worth my time reading. Hot alphas, sweet wolves, rescuing, dubious consent and consensual consent. At times I felt as confused as the MC, which I suppose is what the author was going for. I felt a bit of the desperation the MC's main love interest felt at not being able to confidently claim his mate. I'm looking forward to reading the "rescuer's" story next.
I enjoyed reading this story and I can recommend it. I am a bit upset with myself that I didn't notice that you could purchase this book as well as the second in the series in a combo. It came out a few days after I got this book so I'm a bit miffed about it. I didn't drop any stars over it though. :)
I would give it a 3 for those who aren't big shifter fans and a 3.5 / 4 for those of us that love them. The editing is awful again. It threw me out off the story more than once. I'm not particularly sensitive to it, so if I notice it must be bad. Enough so, if I was her I would not be citing the fact I used to be an English teacher. The story had some unique twists that overall kept many attention especially for a shorter story. Definitely not for those who only like m/m and not m/m/m/m/m. I definitely liked the 2nd book, Wild, which is the one I read first.
The story had an interesting take on shifters. It was not what I was expecting, but it was refreshing. The story is extra smexy and engaging. If you are not into 6/M I will not recommend it, but if you understand the fictional world of packs, this may be a nice change in pace. I wanted a little bit more between Dmitri and Sam and I hope to see a little bit more of them in the next book.
Interesting contrast in the pack dynamics from what most writers use, here explaining that Eastern packs organize/work differently. And how can you not laugh when the one brother, when they all meet as kids, sniffs the air and asks Sam what's wrong with him? Oh, yeah, this is a multi-partner book if you need that warning.
This was a crazy HOT read!!! I had a hard time putting this book down once I started! :-) May not be for everyone because of the muli partners but I read with an open opinion and this one I really enjoyed!
2 1/2 stars. This was ok, I'm not big multiple partners fan but the plot was interesting and I always like different interpretation and ideas on werewolf culture. Even though this wasn't my favorite story I want to get the second book, it sounds like it would be one that I even enjoy more.
