After three long months in Mexico, PSA’s top security agent Nicholas McFadden doesn’t want another assignment—then he hears her name--Brittany Fitzpatrick. Now he knows he can’t refuse.
Ten years ago she almost made him believe in love, until she lied and nearly got him killed. Now PSA wants him to protect her from the very man who almost murdered them both.
Can he trust her? Or is this just another evil plot by Vincent Capri to finish the job?
Award-winning author, Vickie Fisher lives on a nineteen acre farm in Westminster, MD. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she believes are God’s greatest gifts. During the day she works at Amtrak, as a Chief Entitlement Clerk. In her spare time she enjoys taking pictures of nature, and then writing about it. She believes her purpose in life is to inspire and encourage others to look beyond the surface to the awareness that yes, God is here, longing to offer us comfort, encouragement, strength, and wisdom to handle life's problems. All we need to do is open our eyes to the gift around us, Nature.
I had never read an Inspirational Romantic Suspense novel until I read this one, and all I can say is WOW! The author keeps you on the edge of your seat as Brittany and Nick evade villains bent on killing them, and all the while they struggle with the bitter memories from years earlier when they fell madly in love. In the years they were apart, Brittany's trails and tribulations have led her back to her Christian faith. This theme is seamlessly interwoven into the fabric of the story. Despite all obstacles, Brittany finds a way to rekindle Nick's faith in God. This fast paced thriller grabs you and takes you through the story at a breakneck pace. It is almost impossible to put down. A must read!!!
This was the first time I've read an inspirational romantic suspense novel, and it was more than I hoped it would be.
A deadly interlude with a dangerous man ten years before divided her from—what might have been— the love of her life. Thanks to another difficult situation along the way, she's found her way to faith during that time. But when the dangerous man from ten years before is released from prison and dead set on revenge, her life is in danger. The man, who shows up on assignment to protect her, is the same one she'd lost her heart to all those years ago. A deadly game begins, one not only surrounding her life but her heart.
This was an exciting novel from start to finish. While the main story keeps the tension high, the author weaves in several subplots, which add even more twisted lies. The main character has a very level head and makes decisions which are understandable. She's not overly tough, but is determined, kind and doesn't give in when things get hard. This is exactly where the religious part slides right in. Her faith and trust shine through as she remembers Bible verses and prays, when things become almost more than she can handle. And things do get extremely difficult.
Despite being an inspirational novel, the author does not side-step the cruelty and vicious nature crime lords can have. It is violent, at times, and the stakes are very high. Drugs and sex play a large part in the intrigue in a fairly realistic way. (never even close to graphic, however). This is a dirty world with evil players, and the author lets that come through. It makes for an edge-of-the-seat read, while still allowing the religious moments to shine and reflect hope, trust and peace even when such things seem far away.
No Regrets is the story of two people, Nick McFadden, a private security agent, and Brittany Fitzpatrick, a rich girl who uses her money and her life to help others. Ten years before they had met and immediately fallen for one another, but an evil man, Vincent Capri, nearly killed them both. Nick almost died, and he thought Brittany had. By the time he realized she hadn’t, he’d decided it was best to leave her alone. Now she’s under threat from Vincent Capri again and his job is to protect her.
In the years since Brittany and Nick first met, she’s embraced Christianity, while Nick has not. They are still attracted to one another, but Brittany resists the temptation because she knows she cannot be with a man who doesn’t believe as she does. There are quotes from the Bible, etc., throughout the book. However, there are also some pretty explicit scenes of violence, so if you prefer sweet Christian fiction, this might not be for you.
One particular facet of the storytelling that impressed me is that the author sprinkles in the information about their past meeting rather than making it clear upfront. Some might not like that, but I did. It tantalized to only get bits and pieces of it here and there, but by the time the reader is well into the book, it’s all clear. I also thought the villain was very well done. Vincent is a scary individual. All in all, if you like Christian romantic suspense and don’t mind the violence, you’ll probably like this.
Nicholas McFadden and Brittany Fitzpatrick are on the run, chased by a dangerous man they helped put in jail a decade ago, who is now out and hell-bent on revenge. From the first page of Vickie Fisher’s No Regrets, the tension is high, which will hook readers and take them on a ride that keeps them turning the pages. There is a tension between Nicholas and Brittany, too, who are attracted to each other but have trust issues and trouble putting their past behind them. Although the book reads like an action-adventure, there is an emotional thread that weaves throughout and enriches the narrative. Brittany’s a complex character—she’s not just a rich girl with money to throw around. Her Christian faith is important to her, which she draws upon to help her with life’s challenges. Overall—very entertaining.
I could not put this book down. I love the plot. I love the unforgiving aspect of the book because that part happens more often than we would like to think. No Regrets took a lot of different eventful twist and turns…I loved the Christian relationship challenges the book addressed and how . It was very very very refreshing. So many books have some worldly events that it can I can't handle in my walk and it can be a bit frustrating. A lot of books are self-help if they are Christian…but No Regrets was self help and exciting. Brittany the main character stood for what she believed in wholeheartedly. I truly enjoyed your book and I look forward to reading more from you. Thank you Vickie Fisher for allowing God to use you.
No Regrets is a fast, action-packed suspense, inspirational and romance story filled with dangerous situations and intrigue. The characters jump off the page as they face challenges--some life-threatening--and face past heartbreaks and learning to trust again—both others and God. Woven within all the turmoil are forgiveness, romance and love, and spiritual restoration that make an intriguing read.
~I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~
This is only the second inspirational romance I've ever read. It does have a great romance, but it's also a tense thriller. The bad guys are bad and the hero and heroine have to look past what happened before and work together to survive. But when it comes to emotions, the past is never really past. Forgiveness is hard for everyone, but faith proves more powerful. Love this and read it in only two days.
The book starts out with a ton of suspense in an edge gripping intense scene. The book reveals the history of Nick & Brittany a piece at a time as the two come together in a high tension story with desires still lingering. A lot can change in ten years but certain feelings don’t. They are trying to figure out if this is true love while dodging bullets and trying to stay alive. Happy endings are always a plus.
Great action and romance with a hefty dose of practical application of Christian beliefs. The author picks up when Nick and Brittany meet after years apart and follows them as an evil monster chases them trying to kill both. This is a suspenseful ride of a book that keeps you reading. I especially enjoyed the family dynamics and how they were partially resolved.
When Nick is assigned to protect the one that got away, Brittany wonders if she’s strong enough to keep her heart intact. With her strong faith and his dogged determination, will it be enough to stop an old adversary? An exhilarating ride all the way!
I loved this book! The plot is fast-paced and wildly entertaining with characters that you'll love and love to hate. A must read for any romance enthusiast!
Christian Romance Thriller is a genre very difficult to pull off well. My rating for this book is based entirely on the assumption that you (the potential reader) are specifically looking for a Christian faith-based inspirational story that will reinforce your beliefs. The fundamental premise here is: “The Lord will keep you from all harm He will watch over your life.” {punctuation in original.} This and many (many) similar thoughts fill Brittany’s head during her perils. There is a lot of praying and calls for God to provide strength. As a thriller, it hits many standard tropes and attempts to create suspense. There is some violence and some peril. As a romance, there is a lot of yearning and angst about love and sex (Brittany is a virgin) and temptations for Brittany, without any actual sex. So, this is a satisfying read only if you don’t mind that the Christian/faith theme dominates and influences everything else.
The plot follows Brittany (semi-independent daughter of a rich and powerful family) and Nick (a former DEA agent and now an agent for an ill-defined governmental law enforcement agency). Ten years ago, Brittany and Nick met and fell in love. Then, after Brittany foiled a drug bust/sting involving an evil mob boss (Vincent Capri), Nick and Brittany both got shot. Brittany thinks Nick is dead. Nick thinks Brittany is dead. Although each of them considered the other their true love, neither one asked whether the other was alive, and none of their friends, family, or contacts told them. Then, when Capri gets out of prison and comes gunning for Brittany, Nick shows up, assigned to be her body guard, and must escort her safely to her family’s compound in Colorado.
Brittany loves Nick. But she also hates him – how could he not contact her for ten years. She thinks he’s a “playboy” who could never love her the way she needs him to (through Jesus). Yet, she longs for him. But, she is quick to believe every bad thing about Nick that she can imagine, assume, or that anybody tells her. Nick and Brittany yo-yo back and forth between true love, sexual attraction, almost kissing, and then being angry and frustrated and allowing themselves to be pushed away from each other. It’s exhausting trying to keep track of the emotions.
The story includes many instances of false information that keeps Nick and Brittany from getting together. There is an evil sex-pot cousin (Carissa) who tries to steal Nick from Brittany just to hurt Brittany. There is a complex and mostly irrelevant back story about how Brittany and Carissa had an (unbelievable) encounter in Cancun six years earlier. The Cancun incident is vaguely referenced several times during the story as if it is key to understanding Brittany and Carissa. But, when it’s finally explained it is incredible and is more a distraction than a reveal. There is also the cartoonish villain (Capri) who is a gangster with no heart, no soul, and no brains. He’s vicious and stupid.
The thrill-ride has many twists and turns, but it’s difficult to suspend reality so much. There are many leaps of logic, and unlikely events. Then, of course, there is a dramatic (and even less believable) conclusion, where the hero and the villain do stupid things, Brittany has a harrowing peril (and prays for God to save her), and there is a surprise twist that makes little sense. But, it’s all very dramatic and thrilling in a B-movie, Duddly Doright kind of way.
For the faith-based reader, this will be fun, entertaining, mildly erotic in places, suspenseful at times, and in the end emotionally satisfying and spiritually reinforcing. If that’s your expectation, you will enjoy this book.
No Regrets is fast-paced and easy to read. The main characters, Nick and Brittany, after being apart for ten years, finally meet again when Nick turns up to be her bodyguard. One look at each other and the flame between them, which they'd both tried to forget, rekindles. Brittany puts all her faith in God and Jesus and prays for guidance. All hell breaks lose when Vincent Capri, a gangster, discover Nick, whom he thought he'd killed ten years previous, is still alive and kicking. Not only that, but is back in action. Like a bull in a China Shop, Vincent goes on a rampage. He wants Nick and Brittany dead, but first, he want them to suffer. He can almost taste their blood as he thinks about it. What I like most about this book is: no sex involved.
This is a well paced, well written book. Fisher is a superb author evidenced by her using every word to good effect. The characters are well drawn and realistic with their own quirks and foibles. This makes them all the more enjoyable and I found myself caring about what happened to the two main characters. The balance between romance and suspense is spot in, one does not overpower the other. The Christian aspect of the book is handled well and seeks to support the story rather than overwhelm. Overall, a superb romantic suspense novel which I can recommend. I look forward to reading further books in the series.
About the halfway point of this book, I could not put it down and suffered from a book hangover to get to the end. Great suspenseful Christian romance read.
I love it when authors throw everything and more at the characters. Fisher did just that to poor Brittany. My heart ached for her. Great character building. I really felt what Brittany was going through when she was at the Hell house.
This was a first read by the author and I look forward to more.
This was a great book from the beginning to send. Vickie is a great writer and you will love this book. The challenges of Brittany and Nicholas are intriguing as they have to deal with Vincent Capri. There is love trust issues and hope. You will love this book. Great job Vickie.
I enjoyed reading "No Regrets" by Vickie Fisher. The strong characterization draws you into the story and keeps you interested to the very end, because you care.
