Betrayal At Bethesda: The Intertwined Fates of James Forrestal, Joseph McCarthy, and John F. Kennedy

Rate this book
On May 22, 1949, former secretary of defense James Forrestal fell from the sixteenth floor of a building in Bethesda, Maryland. His death was investigated by the US Navy, but the official report listed no definitive cause. On May 2, 1957, US senator and staunch anti-Communist advocate Joseph McCarthy died of acute hepatitis. No cause was given and no autopsy was ever conducted. On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while visiting Dallas, Texas. The ensuing investigation would inspire a controversy that would last well into the twenty-first century. Three of the most important men in the fight against global communism all died in sinister circumstances. In the span of fourteen years, Forrestal, McCarthy, and Kennedy, three men who were great friends during their lives, were all effectively removed from international politics.

J. C. Hawkins refuses to believe this is a coincidence. His new exposé, Betrayal at Bethesda, presents an alternate theory to all three deaths. The men were too closely connected in their policies and political careers for their deaths to be written off as unrelated. Hawkins not only challenges the historical record but also shows how each man died for the ideals they collectively held in such high esteem.

Intriguing & Thought Provoking

This short book quickly highlights the intertwined lives of three powerful men and each of their unlikely sudden death. One was an obvious assassination, the others shrouded in too coincidental of "medical" causes that point to conspiracy . But by whom? What common enemy did these three men have? And is that enemy still with us today? Hawkins presents his opinion with clarity.

Good easy read.

Some of this I had read before such as the Kennedy autopsy forgeries. The name Forrestall was familiar and was McCarthy. I never would have connected the three to Bethesda.
Very good and enjoyable read.

Betrayal at Bethesda: The Intertwined Fates of James Forrestal, Joseph McCarthy, and John F. Kennedy

Very interesting book which relates all these deaths to something more nefarious than what has been purported in the final reports and autopsies. Very interesting read.

Very interesting. Would have liked more on JFK but the Forrestal and McCarthy sections were good introductions to his thesis. Good references and bibliography at the end.

Very good read, have heard some of this before, but didn't know so many Communist worked for the Government. Sort of scary. In todays world you see so many Communist ways in our own Government and they are not afraid to say they are Socialist. They get no backlash.

The notes in back of the book were excellent.

The information in the book was defiantly an eye opener to things that may have happen to JFK body the day he was killed. I truly believe some of the cover ups such as there being two brains and two autopsies of the president. A must read that will lead to further research.
