This is an alternate Cover Edition for ASIN: B01GD9CL5S.

How do you go back to a life you can’t remember? Find out in this follow up to the New York Times bestselling The Program and The Treatment.

Tatum Masterson never went through The Program. She never had her memory stripped, never had to fight to remain herself. But when Weston, her longtime boyfriend and love of her life, was taken by handlers, she hoped he’d remember her somehow—that their love would be strong enough.

It wasn’t.

Like all returners, Weston came back a blank canvas. The years he and Tatum spent together were forgotten, as well as the week when he mysteriously disappeared before The Program came for him.

Regardless of his memory loss, Tatum fights to get Weston to remember her. And just as they start to build a new love, they hear about the Adjustment—a new therapy that implants memories from a donor. Despite the risks, Tatum and Weston agree to go through the process. Tatum donates her memories from their time together.

But the problem with memories is that they are all a matter of perspective. So although Weston can now remember dating Tatum, his emotions don’t match the experiences. And this discrepancy is slowly starting to unravel him, worse than anything The Program could have done.

And as the truth of their life together becomes clear, Tatum will have to decide if she loves Weston enough to let him go, or to continue to live the lie they’d build together.

Prepare for your Adjustment.

It's no secret that I love this series. The Adjustment follows the residual damage left behind by The Program, and it is anything but a happily-ever-after.

Before The Program, Weston and Tatum were inseparable, but as a returner, Weston has absolutely no memory of life prior to his treatment. For Weston, Tatum is just another girl in his class, but for Tatum, Weston is her everything. When a chance arises to regain the memories stolen by The Program, should love triumph the risks? The three relationships followed within this companion series all have their heartache, but the sheer PAIN surrounding this one tugged just a little harder. It was fragile, yet desperate, and it hurt in all the best ways.

A shocking, suspenseful epilogue seems to be the trend within this series. Partly because I was expecting this, the big reveal within The Adjustment didn't pack as much of an emotional punch as I hoped, unlike The Remedy, which left my jaw open for days. It left a huge door open to explore in The Complication, though, so I'm anxious to see how an impossible situation can be tied together neatly.

Pre-release thoughts:

Just when I thought The Epidemic was going to be the last we'd see from The Program series.

4.5 Stars!

The Program is one of those rare series, that not only gets better as it goes, but one that will capture your interest from the very first page.

It is unique, horrifying, and completely believable in almost all aspects of design. It is one that can be felt and imagined and that is what makes it so darn good and so addicting.

It is a series that captured my love for it after the first book and one that has only grown as the series has progressed and evolved. It truly is one of a kind and this latest installment might very well be my favorite yet.

For fans of the series, we know that the stakes have never been higher and the danger more real. Even though so much has happened and so much has changed for the better, there is still so much more bad out there. There are still conspiracies and dangers lurking around every corner and The Adjustment just proves that just when you think it is safe to go back into the waters, a shark jumps out and grabs you.

This was an action packed adventure that pulled at the heart strings and left me reeling and wanting more. It amazes me how far Young has come with this series and with the ending the way it was, how much is still left to reveal and tell.

I can't not wait for more. This series continues to stun and leave me breathless and most of all, leaves me craving more.

This series is so twisty. The story starts off and you think you know where it’s going, but you have no idea. There’s alwayyssss something more brewing under the surface.

Reread 2024: I don’t think I liked this one as much as I did the first time around. The writing felt off or just not as good as the others?? Overall the twists were still good. Didn’t love the characters and their decisions but it was fine. The ending made me want to read the next/final book ASAP even though I told myself I’d take a little break before getting to it. I don’t usually reduce my ratings but I am for this one.

b>First read 2017: Holy shit! Suzanne Young is unreal. I've never been so enthralled with a series from start to finish. I can't believe there's only one book left and I have to wait forever again :( If you haven't read these yet, DO IT. I have to say I had a few predictions that came true by the end, but so many other things surprised me. Seriously Young is a master. I loved it.

One forgot the other remembers. Will the adjustment help him remember, help undo what the program put him through. I really enjoyed diving back into this world and i loved how she had Solane and James mentioned and Micheal appeared briefly! Tatum and Wes are not my favorite couple of the series but I do like idea of the adjustment and how Tatum has to "donate" her memories with Wes in order for him to remember. I highly recommend this series and cant wait to see whats next in the series!

"We promised it'd be okay. But we were liars."

The adjustment. It's scary just by name, too close to The Program. This new group is trying to undo the damage of the original erasing. But how can anyone erase the pain and fear and panic that was The Epidemic. We've heard of solutions before......that's what the original Program was - so how can we believe this solution will be any better than the first one.

Intro Tatum. Tatum has already lived in a world with The Epidmic and The program. She remembers the depression and fear, she remembers friends and strangers alike disappearing. Near the beginning of the book, not only do we have Returners having crashing flashbacks, we also have more suicides and losses. This world is still in chaos and still as damaged as it was to start - maybe more so.

Tatum lost one she loved. She lost Weston. He was taken by The Program and is now a returner. She's hoping he will remember her, that he'll still love her. Even though Tatum is surrounded by a family that loves her and friends that support her, she still desperately needs Wes to be okay and to remember her. She needs to love him and for him to love her.

I definitely can't wait for the next book. I was shocked by the returning names we knew. I mean....no way but I think what I'm the most confused about I wish I was reading these books back to back. This was another amazing addition to the program series.

Lots of secrets in this one. Loved the surprise at the end. Once again, there's a swoonworthy hero. I like that he can't forget the girl he loves no matter what the doctors do to his brain. I feel like we're ratcheting up to a conclusion and I'm excited to see what happens!

I feel like I say this all the time, but Suzanne Young is a master. She amazes me every time I read a new book in The Program series with the genius way she writes the books and connects them. She has this ability to take a detail you don’t even think is important and making it into something you never expected in this series. She did it in all 4 of the other books I have read, and The Adjustment is no different.

It’s hard to really talk about Tatum and Weston’s stories without giving too much away. The Adjustment takes place after The Treatment (book 2) ended so The Program is no more and Tatum is now living in a world of after. No one knows what the effects of The Program are and how to actually go back to life before The Epidemic. It’s an uncertain time where people are scared about the effects from The Program. Returners are different. Their memories are gone and some are acting out. Because of this The Adjustment is created. The Adjustment is a way for returners to get their memories back and to start to feel connections to the people that were once taken from them. It is a program that is created with bits and pieces from Suzanne’s other books in the series and ties everything together nicely.

This is what I love about Suzanne’s writing and these books in particular. She manages to connect everything is a way you don’t really expect. She brings you back to the beginning, to everything you know and makes it all work together flawlessly. It is like the Godfather trilogy in a way. The movies weren’t released chronologically so you find out the after before you see the before. But when watched as a whole it all makes sense. That is what Suzanne has done with The Adjustment. She has made all the stories and couples that I know and love and made them all intersect in some strange way that just works.

Like I said, I can’t say too much about the actual book without giving away previous books and the important parts of The Adjustment. Just know that Suzanne does what she always does and your stomach is in your throat by the end and you are left wanting to know everything and needing the next book.

In case you were wondering this is how you should read this series:

The Program
The Treatment
The Remedy
The Epidemic
The Adjustment
The Complication (out 2018)

Basically add this series to your TBR.

wow. i forget how easily i get sucked into these books. i practically flew right through this!

what i will say is how even though this is a continual series, each mini story holds its own. its been awhile since i read the other books, but i didnt feel lost at all. as with before, this book gave a new perspective about the program, particularly its lingering effects after its been disbanded. i thought the plot of this was very interesting. memories are so subjective, so it was hard to really trust tate. i wouldnt call her an unreliable narrator, but i was constantly second guessing everything that was going on in this. it definitely kept me on my toes.

i have no idea where the story will go from here but im really interested to see how it all plays out. the only thing i have to say is if tate and weston dont end up together, im going to be writing suzanne young a very strongly worded letter!

A thrilling new edition to The Program series! Readers will love Tate and Wes as much as the previous couples in this series. This one is set after the original trilogy. The Program may be destroyed but the world hasn't returned to normal... suicide clusters are still happening and returners from the Program are attempting to regain lost memories through a risky experimental process called The Adjustment. And the Adjustment is run by none other than Quinlan's father and Marie! Also Sloane and James are talked about a bit, credited for taking down the Program. AND Realm has a cameo! That poor, broken boy. Alright, Program junkies rejoice... we have more stories from Suzanne Young <3

I had the hardest time with this book out of the entire series. I'm used to inhaling Suzanne Young's books in one sitting. This took two weeks. I found it pretty boring up until the last 100 pages where suddenly everything started happening.

So far, this is my least favorite of the series. I still love the series as a whole, but not as big a fan of this one in particular.

Interesting next step in the Program series...Missed the characters from the original series.

So, why should you pick it up?

-Series within a series. Each set of two books is a total story within the world of The Program. The Program and The Treatment center on one set of characters, The Remedy and The Epidemic center on another, and The Adjustment and The Complication have their own set of people. There is some crossover and having knowledge of the world is helpful, but not required. Suzanne sets up each duology so that you're not lost.
-Speaking of characters...OH BOY are these characters the kind you can't get enough of. Each of them has their own experience with The Program and the adults controlling the experiment. Plus there's some romance <3.
-Unputdownable. I sat in the sun so long while reading The Program that I had a sunburn! I didn't want to put it down! I also cleared my TBR for The Adjustment. Once you start, you can't stop. Good thing there's 5 of them so far.
-Relevant. Considering the suicide clusters within our country, The Program feels like something that could totally happen. Let's learn from the mistakes in the book so we don't have to go through what the characters in the stories go through,
-The Covers. Oh, how much do you love how matchy-matchy this series is?! I totally do.

My Thoughts

It's been quite some time since i've been in this series and i have to say that it's come back with vengeance. I couldn't be happier with where this story has taken us. We've gone through The Program with several characters, we've read about their backstories. We've spent time with those who are brought into the mix to help families adjust. And still, there's so much further that this story can be taken.

In this next installment, we are at a point of time in Portland where the Program has been closed down as we knew, but there are so many who have been treated and now have to find their way back into the world where people aren't accepting really and no one knows what life will be like for those out of the program now.

Tatum is our lead - she's been living through high school as the Program has taken it's toll on all the kids around her. her boyfriend was taken into the program and their love story was cut short. He's now returned back to high school with no memory of Tatum, and that's both heartbreaking but hopeful all the same.

The journey that we go on with Tatum and Wes is a complicated one. They find their way back to each other but it's not quite the same as before since Wes doesn't remember anything. It's intense to see how their connection grows and extends even under these new conditions. Of course, that's all made more complicated when they learn of The Adjustment, which is supposed to be a treatment that brings back memories so that the returners can begin to live their best life.

Where the story goes from there is so complicated and dark that you get sucked in. We see that secrets begin to unfold, both with Tatum keeping secrets from her grandparents about what she's doing with Wes. They adore him but with their background (gram being in medicine and Pops being a reporter), there's so much fear and skepticism that Tate has no choice but to hide things.

While they see progress with The Adjustment, there are so many setbacks as well. Even in the grand scheme of things in the school, there are issues arising. So many of the returners are having issues and are killing themselves spawning a new epidemic. Then we see one girl Vanessa who's gone through The Adjustment start to have problems stemming from memories, paranoia etc. She makes us start to think about things differently and it starts to make you think about what's really going on again since all is definitely not how it seems.

Where we end this next installment is nuts. Things that we thought we knew about people were completely false and backstories on others are beyond fabricated. Friendships and relationships were not at all clear and when we see characters that we love and adore either die or lose themselves again, it makes you anxious to see what's next. I honestly cannot wait for what's to come in this series since there's so much that has not been resolved.

The Adjustment is book #5 in The Program series. The order is The Program (#1), The Treatment (#2), The Remedy (#3), The Epidemic (#4), The Adjustment (#5) and The Complication (#6). However The Remedy and The Epidemic are prequels.

This is a YA series. I'm not sure if it is dystopia or science fiction. Usually I think of science fiction as time travel or space travel, which is not the case at all in these books.

The Adjustment has a new narrator, high school student Tatum (girl). Her boyfriend Weston was in The Program.

These books are basically three duologies that are interconnected. So they are companion series that belong to one big series. Do you have to have read the previous books in order to read this one? I think that you are supposed to have read all of the books. And I suspect that most readers will have read the entire series. But I definitely think that it would be possible to read The Adjustment without having read any of the previous books. I would definitely say that you would not have had to have read the prequels (The Remedy and The Epidemic). Although Dr. McKee from The Remedy is in this book. And various other characters from the previous books either have small parts or are referenced. But you will at least have to understand what The Program is before starting The Adjustment.

The Adjustment takes place after the Program has been shut down. Tatum's boyfriend Weston has returned to school. But without his memories. I really loved everything about Tatum and Weston. And found these new characters very interesting. I was also quite interested in the adjustment (a way to maybe get some of their memories back).

The end of this book was everything. I loved the big reveals. I was not expecting what happened at all. I am anxious to read the final book. The Complication.

I’ve waited a long time to read the fifth book in this series. Main because I loved the fourth book so much, I didn’t want to move on to brand new characters in this book. I did end up liking Tatum as a MC, but for me, it’s gotten to a point where all the main characters feel the same. All three female MC’s (in books 1, 3, and 5) tend to have similar personalities and very similar love interests. At this point in the series, when I look back, it’s hard for me to distinguish one from the other.

In this book though, I realllyyy enjoyed several other characters from the last four books making appearances! I love how all the books are starting to become entwined!

This book towards the end, did get emotional for me considering I’ve been in a similar situation as Tate when it comes to Weston’s relationship with Kyle.

Squee! A new The program book and not another of those prequels.

This won't be a super-long review because otherwise I would have to spoiler tag a lot of things. :P

I was also really excited because this one takes place after all the chaos, after The Program, or well is it all truly over? This book had so many things happening, bad and good, that I feel like The Program is still around. Still having power in one way or another.

I was really doubting that Adjustment program. It seems just a bit too good to be true + add to that all the stuff that happens... I am not sure if it really is good for anyone. On the one hand, it may help for some, it is quite an interesting idea with how it works, and I could see it working, if applied well. If handled with the right care afterwards. It would be wonderful if this was the way to go. If this was the cure for everyone who lost their memories due to The Program.
It was quite interesting to see the process of The Adjustment, and how Tatum found out about it (not only through word of mouth, but also on her own).

This book is also not only about Wes, about his return, about his life, his memories. Oh no. You quickly notice that our MC is just as deeply interwoven in all of this. I noticed quite fast that there was more to Tatum than meets the eye. I can't really go into details, but there were hints everywhere, and as the book progressed and we found out more and more, the more I grew suspicious of Tatum.

Wes and Tatum? I don't know, I just didn't like the two of them together. It seems awkward, weird, and not only because of Wes' missing memories. Wes was a pretty sweet boy, and he definitely deserved better parents. But Tatum was gung ho on getting him back that it was a bit creepy. Yes, I can imagine she missed him like hell, she wants him back, but her behaviour, going after him like that, acting all disappointed (while he can't help it that he doesn't know), it was just too much. She never gave him time to readjust to his life, his school, everything. And she also didn't listen to a drop of advice from her friends.
I wasn't that surprised when THAT came out. I was more like: "HA, I knew it!"

We also have two other characters, Nathan and Foster. I like Foster a lot, he was interesting and fun, though I also felt so sorry for all he had to go through, and still is going through. Nathan, eh, he was sweet, and he had good intentions, but more often than not, I was annoyed with him. He was just a bit too pushy for my liking.

The ending, and well the last chapters leading up to that ending, OMG OMG. While I had my suspicions, there will still a lot of things that were revealed that I didn't expect at all! It really sets the tone for the next book. I can't wait for that to come out and find more about all that is revealed!

Mm, what more? I think I have covered all the basics, I wish I could go into things a bit deeper, but I just can't. All I want to say is that everyone should read this book (be sure to also have read the other 2 books). It was a great, interesting, fun book and I flew right through it.

I wasn't sure if I was going to review this book, since it is in the middle of a series, but I just..wanted to say a few things.

First off, so glad that the series wasn't actually over after the last book. I was so shook and needed more. I'm still shook, but at least I have more.

This series blows my mind. Suzanne Young's writing style is lovely and so...blunt. I'm not sure how to put it, but its like you're sitting in someone's mind and are just tossed everything like life tosses problems at a person; abruptly, with no apologies. It sounds rather rude, and believe me, it is, but this series needs to be blunt and rude.

The fact that she can write about teen depression and suicide and keep a concise story for 5 solid books now without breaking down is just so admireable. I'm not even sure I can do it, since sometimes I actually have to out these books down because of what happens to the characters. Its just so wild man, and so relevant to our current times.

Toward the end of this book, some characters from the first four books are introduced and a huge plot twist is revealed; that's the other thing, I literally can not predict anything that happens in these books, which is very rare for me. It was nice to see one of the old characters, but man I did not miss a few of them, like how dare they still be alive. Haha.

I can't wait for the last installment of this series, about time we get some answers to this.

4.8 stars.

As expected, Suzanne Young delivered an excellent next installment of The Program series. She was able to take the "feel" of the last two duologies and put a spin on this new one in order to make it seem both new and familiar for her long-time readers. Going into this book, I didn't know what to expect, and I especially couldn't fathom how the premise of this book would continue into The Complication (silly me, I shouldn't have worried, it's Suzanne Young). Needless to say, after finishing The Adjustment, I cannot wait for the arrival of the next book; April 2018 couldn't come fast enough.

Pros:
-Tatum; Young has found a way to give each of her protagonists in The Program series a unique voice, and as a reader who has experienced carbon-copy heroes/heroines too many times to count, it's quite impressive.
-The plot; in an attempt to avoid any spoilers, I will simply say that the way the story unravels begs the reader to consider humanity, what creates a person's identity, and whether a person can change that much based on experiences alone. It's fascinating!
-The rollercoaster that is Part III; so many twists and turns, and just when you thought you had it all figured out and there couldn't possibly be more, here comes another subtle line of dialogue that will stop you in your tracks and force you to go back and read the line again five times to make sure you read it right. I'll take the next book now, please.
-The nods to characters from the other duologies; of course, every mention of a familiar name had me screaming.

Cons (there's only one that kept me from giving this 5 stars):
-The first 70-100 pages; the introduction was quite slow going, and I wasn't hooked right off the bat as a lot of time was spent setting up what is in the synopsis/front cover (meaning I already knew what was coming and we weren't "getting there fast enough" for my taste). That's part of the reason I didn't fly through this book as I did with all the other Program installments, and that surprised me.

Overall, this is a must read for any fan of Suzanne Young or fan of The Program series. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Set in the aftermath of The Program. Tatum never went through The Program but when her boyfriend Wes comes back from it she's determined to make him remember her. It's not written the best and there's a few grammar and continuity errors that really should have been picked up in proofreading. Nothing particularly interesting happens until the last 50 or so pages, but when it does a whole lot of little things that didn't add up throughout the book make more sense. There's a bit more crossover from the previous books in this one with characters from both The Program and The Remedy making appearances. As there's only one book left I'll finish the series but I'm kinda over it. Each pair of books is really similar - girl has hot broody boyfriend, book 1 has a lot of build-up and ends on a bombshell, book 2 follows the main characters as they deal with whatever ruined their lives in book 2. The characters, particularly the male ones, are all written very similarly which I also noticed in The Epidemic. Even in this book Nathan gets compared to Deacon, and Wes is compared to Reed. I did like Foster though and I hope he is in the last book.
