It's now 12/28 ...
There are a few issues here - first being when I read/skimmed C1 I thought the translation was ok - but the more I read I was like *sigh* so there's that. The writing style is also simpler/less pretty here.
FL is also >.< kinda dumb as rocks *sigh* again. Not so much my style but I do like to try to expand my horizons. AND I like a groveling smitten hero. Do we get that here ... I ... guess, but IMO it was insufficient. TBH I don't think he ever apologizes/does enough to say sorry about fucking SLAPPING HER SO HARD SHE FALLS INTO A TABLE, HITS HER HEAD, AND GETS AMNESIA. Like that's abusive asshole shit right there. And her "I want to leave you let's get divorced" - loved that energy, sadly it dissipated way too early. I get it was basically impossible for a woman to be divorced in those days, but with her rich and shameless family, she could've gotten it done. Anyway asshole definitely doesn't pay enough. Also his childhood friend who becomes FL's friend, the first bailianhua - I DEFINITELY think she got off way way WAY too easy, though she did become one of FL's biggest supporters and her best friend.
ML does get a bit flirty and affectionate but I felt like he fucked up more than he did good. I was glad there was that prince who was interested in FL and ML knew about it and was jealous. Yeah, stew, you jerk. Hmph. (Although the prince wasn't some great thing either. Ahaha loved how FL and her friend unknowingly criticized him. And he DID help eventually.)
I'm not mad I read this book, overall I enjoyed it, but there are many many I'd re-read or recommend before it.
There were winning parts though, and points for being so different from the other books I've read in this ~genre.

So the pinyin of the title is Xiǎo qī, qiěmàn & the site translates it as “Xiao Qi, Wait” which, all good
On c2 and … Why is FL so uncouth like didn’t she grew up in an extremely wealthy family? This just doesn’t make sense to me like she seems even more rude & clueless than a modern day person. 😒
C3 ok this bailianhuabitch is too much already jumped into a well too frame FL, busted into their BEDROOM the third morning … ML has already slapped FL (fucking gigantic asshole), & left for work early every day. I need FL’s family to support her because this is too much.
… no but seriously though did a stupid person transmigrate into FL’s body & is now the MC cuz can anyone be THAT clueless? And she’s all “oh after I divorce let’s hang out” To the bailianhua. Like us she insane? … am *I* insane?! WTF am I reading here.
C9 oh so ML isn’t as indifferent as indicated. Also 😖 the version I’m reading is the only one I can find on my phone & it appears to be a translation of a translation ☠️☠️☠️ - I’m glad if even drunkenly FL returned ML that slap. Fuckhead. I hope you die of blue balls. 😒
C22 damn ML is being SUPER affectionate in public. Like even modern day that’s a good bit of PDA! It really seems like he did a 180 fast.
C27 & 28 made me teary - dunno about the former but the latter FL running back to the flooded village to find ML. Heh and I’m glad she says she hates him & doesn’t want him & clung to the advisor. I’M STILL MAD AT YOU ML - I’M GLAD YOUR HEART HURTS.
C32 - third appearance of Wang(?)Chen Zi Gong. Does he actually like FL? What’s going on there. Lol and ML buy your woman different breakfast, damn!
C33 CZG again - I get the sense he’s high nobility or even royalty… but 🤷🏻♀️
c37 🤦🏻♀️ omg when they finally consummate their marriage and the "ant bite."
😒 c43 not loving all the time ML is spending reminiscing about his old flame. Also dreading this move to his hometown where it seems FL will suffer :/ I hope her in laws just find her adorable. (🤦🏻♀️ she is pretty stupid though 😞)
C45 omfg my cheek literally twitched did this big dumb bastard NOT TELL HIS PARENTS HE’S ALREADY MARRIED?! But didn’t his hometown friends already visit & return omfgwtf ugh ok so he wrote them but MIL already dislikes FL from go 😒😡 ML better more than make up for this 😡😡😡
C46 😒😡 don’t like how none of the servants seem to know he’s married WTFdude (well at least he realizes & is like huh did my parents hide it?) and 😒 I guess I’m glad he answered honestly when FL asks if he still loves his ex but his IDK was super unsatisfactory I hope FL leaves him if even temporarily. Come on Wang/ChenGZ take her away! Or someone else! (Also from before <.< did advisor Lu have any feelings for FL?)
