Dart I laughed when I first saw her auditioning at our strip club. She’s polar opposite to the type of women that attract me. Obeying the hands off rules the club has for the strippers is going to be easy. But when she needs a friend I find I’m there offering my support. But I’m there when she needs someone to lean on, and slowly we build a friendship. Somewhere along the way things start to change and I find that I want her, all of her, the complete package. I didn’t know that I was going to lose her before I could make up my goddamned mind and decide whether I could consider making a commitment. Nor that it would bring down things on my club, the like of which we’ve never had to deal with before. Alex Dart may be straight up sex personified but I am not his type. He goes for statuesque blonds not short, curvy black girls like me so I will settle for what I can get and that’s being his friend. Just when I think there might be more to us than friendship he throws it all away. He’s never going to change, and I’m done being second best and I am done with Dart.
NOTE: Targeting Dart is a Dark Romance and contains some themes of violence that some readers might find uncomfortable
Manda’s life's always seemed a bit weird, starting with a childhood that even today she’s still trying to make sense of, then losing her parents in the late teens. Going from the tragic to the bizarre, who else could be unlucky enough to have had two car accidents, neither her fault, one involving a nun, and another involving a police woman?
There isn’t enough space to list everything that’s happened to Manda, or what she’s learned from it. But by using the rich fabric of her personal life, psychology degree, varied work experiences, and amazing characters she’s met, Manda is able to populate her books with believable in-depth characters and enjoys pitting them against situations which challenge them. Her books are full of suspense, twists and turns and the unexpected.
Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.
Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.
I will try and keep my review short but I hated this book! It’s been a long time where I read a book where the heroine is slated so much for her lack of good looks and for being black! I know this is an MC book and I have read plenty that deals with gritty and unpalatable subjects so it wasn’t that but how unattractive the heroine was portrayed as being. Nearly everyone seemed to have an issue in some way or another with her because she was short and “stout” I think at one point the hero referred about her. Here is why I don’t find their “love” so credible. For nearly halfway through the book he went on and on about how he always preferred blondes and how could he fancy heroine when she wasn’t really attractive add in to the fact she’s BLACK. He has a friendship with her but refuses to acknowledge any other attraction because really he thinks she’s beneath him. I hated him for his negative feelings for the heroine but I loathed him when as she was lying recovering from a really horrendous attack he decides to sleep with a club whore! She found out and decided to be strong for all of five minutes and then suddenly all is forgiven because he apologises and explains he was in denial of his feelings so that’s why he slept with club whore....because off course that makes it all better! The only thing I will give credit for was that Dart was great with her son Tyler and he was a good friend to heroine whenever she need him but as a love interest he sucked!

I’m not really sure how I feel about this book ... conflicted is a probably an accurate description.
MC stories are my book drug of choice and the blurb for this one intrigued me. Alex and Dart seem like total opposites but a friendship grows between them. It’s clear they are attracted to each other, feelings can’t be denied and friendship becomes more.
For me the premise of the story was good but it was just so long. At time’s I felt the dialogue was too repetitive and some things were added that seemed out of step with the rest of the story.
This book has been hard reading that is for sure I wanted to chuck it a few times with the way that they were treating Alex just because the colour of the skin it was making me mad and because she was a little heaveyer to it got to me. but finaly I got to the finish line and I'm glad I stuck to it and found that these men are more then what they seem After loosing a member of the family in the previous book it was nice to gain two in theis one but also loose them to another chapter and introduce them to the readers it was good
Dart thinks Alex dancing is a joke. To him and his brother who are aditionong her she isn't right for a stripper. They soon realize how wrong they are, as she pole dances.
Alex wants to start new. She is also hiding from her abusive ex. Her sister gets her an audition at the club's strip club. Her lack of esteem has her doubting her looks.
As their feelings grow they soon have to deal with a long distance relationship. Twist and turns run through out the story.
What happens to Alex when her ex finally finds her? How does Dart and his brothers deal with those they trust and call brothers? For the answers you have to read and find out.
I am leaving my opinion of this ARC freely. This story is great covers so many things that are going on in the world today.. At first Dart and Alexa doesn’t seem to like each other..As time goes on they begin to like, respect and come to love each.
Wow! This book definitely gets your blood pumping and heart racing. It’s dark, twisted, intense, anxiety, very hot sexy scenes and many mix emotions from anger, hate to love. Fantastic book and you won’t be disappointed.
This was my least favorite book by this author. The only reason it got a 3 stars is because the author is a good writer. Other than that I hated this book. Dart, the main male lead, was awful. The plot was a little too dark for me in parts and then to add to the fact that the Alex, the female lead, who happens to be black seemed to be a issue throughout the book and mentioned way too many times. This booked just rubbed me the wrong way. The connections weren't there for me between characters and secondary characters either. Bummed!
An exceptionally entertaining, suspenseful, intriguing and enjoyable journey to go on with Dart, Alex, and we cannot forget Tyler. Manda Mellett has fast become one of my go to authors. Her stories are like no others. I think I go through every emotion reading one of her stories. The strength, bravery, and unconditional love of Alex is superb. Dart took time to warm up to, he had his flaws but it was endearing to see him look past Alex’s appearance and get to know the beautiful, strong woman within. I absolutely loved every single moment of this book. Audiobook is just as great. Narration is wonderful. I enjoyed listening to this story come to life.
Targeting Dart is the fourth book in Satan’s Devils MC Series by Manda Mellett. It is a superb MC story- a dark romance, with violence, a friends-to-lovers aspect, opposites attract, chemistry, heat, danger, and more. This could be read as a standalone, but I really recommend reading the previous books to get the ‘full’ Satan’s Devils experience. Dart may have laughed when Alex struts into his life. He really didn’t think she had what it would take. But boy, did she change his tune. Throw in a few twists and dramatic developments and you won’t want to put this story down.
This is definitely a book that should only be read by those over 18, as there is profanity, extremely graphic and explicit scenes throughout, and not just of the adult variety. If you have any trigger points, or PTSD, this may be a series for you to avoid, but these books are great if you like hard hitting books that are full of emotion. They can be read individually, however, I would recommend reading them in the order in which they were written.
This book starts with a sisters night out where we are introduced to Alex and Celine, they discuss their lives and what next steps that Alex needs to take, to become independent again and not to have to rely on her sister’s generosity for longer than she needs to. They notice and eye the two bikers entering the bar and start to discuss them and what they get up to, both professionally and personally. The older sister (Celine) tells her younger sister (Alex) about the club that they own and that they employ people as dancers and then Celine tries to convince Alex that it could be her perfect job as she is really good at it as a hobby and why not try! Alex takes a lot of convincing and muses on the suggestion while Celine goes to the bar. Alex then sees her talking to the two bikers and before she knows it, Celine has her set up with an audition at the club the next morning. Alex is shocked and appalled at the suggestion claiming that they won’t hire her because, for one, she is a woman of colour and two, not the typical body shape of what they would be looking for. In the end she agrees to the audition and goes to the club the next morning.
It is at the club that we meet Dart and another of the MC members who are going in to watch the audition as they have a spot that needs filling at the club. They know that they are expecting someone called Alex and what time she is turning up, but nothing about what she looks like, so they are shocked as well when Alex turns up bang on time. They take one look at her and do not approve of her looks, not her skin colour, but her body shape, so as Dart prepares to let her down easily, before they have even given her a chance, he goes over to talk to her. After inviting her to sit on a bar stool, her height issues come to the fore as she is unable to sit on it and after establishing that she is not a dwarf and that she is just short, Dart starts to discuss the position. During the conversation, Alex shows the fire within her when she is sure that they are going to dismiss her before even showing them what she can offer them, this show of attitude convinces the bikers to give her a shot on the pole and so she goes up and dances for them.
When she does this, Dart realises how good she is and what effect she has on him while she is dancing and it takes him by surprise, as it does the other members as well. This encourages him to make the decision to take her on, but when she says that she has conditions to attach to her employment, Dart starts wondering why she chooses the particular ones she does, he asks her to go into a bit more detail and when she does, he decides to take it back to the club to ask whether this is something that they may be able to help with.
As the story develops that Alex’s worries become reality, this is where she realises that she has to learn to trust, overcome and learn from the experiences she is going to have and Dart has to do the same. There are hurdles that must be crossed, decisions that have to be made and action that has to be taken. The MC has to decide whether to pull together and deal with hardship, friendship, relationships, sex and barriers to see whether their lives are going to change and what is going to come from it.
One word sums up Manda Mellett’s books, and this one is no exception: entertainment. It’s a rollicking good story as well as downright sexy. Although this is an erotic romance, don’t expect light and fluffy, ‘Oh my! What pair of shoes am I going to wear today?’ chic-lit. This is something darker and more challenging, more akin to Sons of Anarchy than the majority of erotic romances. Satan’s Devils, like real life 1%er motorcycle clubs, have their own moral code which pays little heed to the letter of the law. They are not above administering their own justice which can be brutal and deadly, and yet each member also has their softer side. They are real human beings, not cardboard cutouts, with their own joys, pains and losses, and a deep sense of brotherhood. Woe betide anyone who betrays that bond of trust, be they from within the club or outside it. Nor does this book pander to the idea that the central characters must always be perfect physical specimens. Alex, the heroine of the piece, is short, buxom, and black, so this book also delves into issues of racial attitude on all sides of the colour divide, and is not afraid of making its point that racism can come from anyone, no matter what side of that divide they come from. Dart, the hero of the story, although a little rough around the edges and having fought shy of relationship commitment in the past, has a heart of gold, never shying away from challenging attitudes about his relationship with Alex and the issues she and her son face. Not having read the other books in the Satan’s Devils book series (this is the fourth) didn’t hold me back, as I picked up quickly on the characters and relevant back-story, and was quickly sucked into the world of outlaw motorcycle clubs; both the intrigue and betrayal, and the genuine sense of community. Having had real life dealings with such clubs in the past, I can honestly say it’s pretty close to the mark even if it is jazzed up a little for the sake of a good story. And a good story it is. The violence is crisply handled, the sex hot, and the characters convincing. I will be reading more of the series. In fact, now my appetite is whetted, I can’t wait.
Targeting Dart, is book four in the Satan’s Devils MC’ series. This series is full of amazing characters from officers, prospects and patched members of the Satan’s Devils and their Old Ladies to the club sweet butts, and confirmed bachelor Dart is another great character. Dart is happy being an average member of the Satan’s Devils MC, he has no desire to be an officer and is happy riding in the middle of the pack and enjoys the biker life-style to the full, with no commitments. When he meets Alex whilst she’s auditioning to become a stripper to earn some much needed money for her sons medical care, Dart fights his attraction for her and all he offers her is friendship. Alex is happy to have a friend like Dart as she fights for the life of her sick child. However Dart has to step up when Alex’s violent ex reappears in her life and threatens to take her son away. Dart fears he has left it too late to express his true feelings and Alex has suppressed her feelings in fear of him hurting her but as they come together against her ex, they can’t fight their feelings for one another any longer. This is another fantastic standalone story in Manda Mellett’s MC series, however personally I have found it more enjoyable to read the series of books in order as the characters do crossover and past events are mentioned in future books. Targeting Dart is a dark romance and does contains some themes of violence. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster but you always feel as though you are among friends reading books in this series, as you get to know the characters so well thanks to the authors wonderful descriptions of them all.
Targeting Dart (Satan's Devils MC #4) by Manda Mellett
5 +++++++ Stars
Wow this book had a lot!!..So much going on through the whole story that theres no way I could sum it all up in this one review, Just know that these first 5 books of this series should absolutely be read in order..There are ongoing stories and issues being dealt with and Im afraid picking any of them up out of order will not give you what you need to fully appreciate everything.
Oh my goodness, Dart and Alex and this club, whew what a ride this was. Danger, heartbreak, fear, bylaw changes, betrayal, love, and a few scenes that totally blew me away and not in the best way. Then bring in Heart’s continued story and I'm literally emotionally wrecked! This author has no fear of tackling some tough scenes.Scenes that you just dont normally have pop up in books, and if they do there are usually saviors rushing in, but she plays these out and it floors me. She has like a million books in all of the Satan’s Devils spread out through a few different chapters and cities and I just can not figure out how she can have this many books and each one is so very different!
I cant find the right word to sum up this Author’s talent and give her the justice she deserves but if I had to pick one or two they would be Brilliant Perfection!
Jumping in to book 5 now...cant wait but also am so scared, i just know this one will be the heart breaker that will finish me off!
I don't like racism in any form, so after reading and greatly enjoying this series up to this point, I had to dnf Targeting Dart and I won't continue with this series or any other book by Manda Mellett.
Our FMC, Alex, is a black woman on the run with her child from her abusive husband, and this is page 1 in chapter two and our first introduction to Alex.
Chaper 2 Alex
“See those two men at the bar? I’d give them both at least an eight and probably darn near a nine.” Only vaguely interested, I turn to see what my sister has pointed out, and it only takes a second before I’m agreeing with her assessment. “For whites, they’re okay.”
“For whites, they’re okay.” No. This author would hopefully never write, "For blacks, they're okay." or "For Philipinos, they're okay." and there is nothing okay about writing this about white people.
I read for many reasons, one of which is to escape our current political and social discourse. Reading is about escapism for me, so I sure as shit don't want to read a romance with a racist heroine. Full stop. Again, I'm going to have to take a pass on this author.
Targeting Dart is the fourth book in the series and it gets your heart pumping. I cant find enough words to compliment Manda and her inborn writing talent. She is very clever and weaves so many threads while keeping all together with so many characters that you absolutely love.
Dart takes one look at the tiny creature who just walked in and could not believe his eyes but when she takes control and let go, she is magical, she is all consuming. When things go pear shaped he can not believe what kind of monster could do such things and vows there and then his last days on earth are guaranteed.
Alex knows she is no looker but she knows her craft and her craft is spellbinding. However when her past finally catches up to her she is left for dead and can only hope that the MC find her before it is too late.
Targeting Dart is the fourth book in the Satans Devils MC Series by Manda Mellett. We follow two perspectives Dart, a hard nut to crack and Alex who cannot see how beautiful she truly is. Dart is happy in his position in the MC with no ties or connections he can do what he wants. Alex is a single mum in desperate need of money for her son. Desperate people do desperate things, what will Alex do to save her son?
In my opinion, this can be read as a stand-alone although there are some points made about other characters in the book that could spoil previous books. The book is well written with a well-developed world and fantastic character development. Its full of twists and turns, I felt like I was going to get whip lash! this heart jerking and hard hitting book will sure hit you in all of the feels.
Without realising it when I was offered the chance to read Targeting Dart, it was actually on my TBR list (that sucker is getting way to long) because the first 3 books in the series had me that hooked I had to do a binge read (yes something I’m well known for). It took me all of about 3 pages to realise hot damn baby... It’s Dart’s story (doh face palm... title should of clued me in) and yeah apart from grandbaby no. 2 distractions (4 months old and needs to learn that when Nanny is reading...) I couldn’t put this baby down. Dart and Alex come from two different worlds and yet danger follows them both, a passion that can’t be denied, danger, deception, male boneheadedness and add in a cheeky lil boy, Dart has no idea what’s hit him. Manda awesome job!
This series is turning out to be a great MC series to follow. The characters are well developed and interesting. The story lines flow smoothly and have just the right mix of all the elements needed to make it a great MC book. You start out wanting to smack Dart upside the head but end up loving the guy. He proves love really is blind. Dart and Alex have a uphill battle to their HEA and once you start reading you won't want to put it down. The story line will keep you guessing as to what will happen next with surprises you won't see coming. There's no doormat h's in this story and even the supporting characters leave a impression on you. There's drama. heartbreak. surprises and a lot of love in a lot of different forms. It is well worth the read if you like MC books. Rated very good
I loved this book. This is one of my favorites in the Satan's Devils MC series. This story is full of action and steamy bikers. The characters made the story engaging and feel real. They pulled me into the story fast and kept me turning pages to the end. I had no problems connecting with them. This is Dart's story. He is a man that is happy just to be riding with the club. He meets Alex who is completely the opposite of what he likes but she needs his help. I loved watching their relationship grow from friendship to something more. Their chemistry is off the charts but Dart being Dart is about to throw it all away. What will fate have in store for them? I highly recommend reading this book and this author. You won't regret picking up this book and the others in this series.
Targeting Dart By Manda Mellett 5 stars I’m going to be honest that although I absolutely give this 5 stars because the writing is great and the storyline it’s probably my least favourite of all the stories and I can’t really put my finger on why. Maybe I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I wanted or something I’m really not sure but what I do know is as usual the story is excellently written with a great pace and flow. The characters were a little harder to get to know but they were really well developed and I liked to see other characters from previous stories pop up as well. I did like the connection that Dart and Alex had – I just wish that Alex knew how special she was regardless of how she thought she looked!
I just finished this audio book and my gosh what a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It is good I had an audio book because the tears were streaming down my face. If I have to vote, I’d say this is now my favorite book from this author. So much happens in this book you will not want to stop listening. Alex is broken but yet still has strength to overcome the worst of the worst. Dart is given an opportunity to grow in his role at the club due to unforeseen circumstances. This book starts off with a bang and never lets you go. Some extremely sensitive issues are brought up in this book. If you have read any of the prior books in the series. This is a must must must read. The narrators are the best I have listened to and will drag the emotions out of you whether good or bad.
MC books are a guilty pleasure and this one didn't disappoint. The author referred her book to me in a Facebook reading group. I was blown away by the depth of her heroine. I really loved Alex she was a strong woman and devoted mother. I must admit that I thought her description was a bit funny but she is so much more than her appearance. I'm so happy that Dart saw past her looks and got to know her as a person. I experienced so many emotions reading this book that my kids probably think I'm crazy. I finished this book with a smile on my face. Now I'm going back to the beginning. I've found another one-click author! 😊
I loved reading the story of Dart and Alex. Dart believes that all he can offer is friendship. Then he finds that his feelings are deeper. Can he keep Alex safe when her ex catches up to her? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. I grew to care about what happens to Dart and Alex with every chapter that I read. I loved the care and devotion that they both showed to Alex’s child. The story has some moments that made me mad, heartbreaking moments, as well as ones that touched my heart. A wonderful fourth story in the series.
This might have been more than I could handle. I know Manda goes towards darkness in her MC books but I feel like I should have been warned more. Spoiler alert: after Alex was mutilated and Dart was sleeping around I really really thought about not reading the rest of the book. Honestly the only reason I kept going was the fact that I had already purchased the rest of the series. Now the 3 stars might be my personal opinion on the story just because I don't like how the H was tortured. It happened before the halfway mark and I feel like the rest of the book was good but it didn't make up for the trauma.
To start the narrators of this story were amazing. The voices fit the characters to the T! The story itself was full of action, suspense, romance, and of course an amazing HEA. Dart was a man who just lived his life with not much thought on up or down or more or less. He was a simple man who came across Alex who was a complex woman. Alex was strong, loyal, fierce, and a complete bad a**. Together they were everything and had a connection that no one else could rival. This author has rocked the MC world as usual and given us a great story that is not easily forgotten. Loved this book and loved the audio even more.
Targeting Dart Alex is in Tucson, living with her sister, after fleeing an abusive husband. With no job and no way to make money, she auditions to be a dancer at Satan’s Angels, the strip club owned by the MC. She isn’t the typical type of woman that usually dances at the club. When Dart finds himself wanting and needing to help Alex out, he isn’t sure if he can be more then her friend. He knows he has feelings for her but he vowed to never settle down. When her ex finds her, Dart knows then that he can not and will not let anything happen to her or her son.
Targeting Dart by Manda Mellett a five-star read that will grab you. This is number four in the Satan’s Devils MC Books and this is darker than the others in more ways that I had imagined. Mmmmm I didn’t enjoy Dart very much for most of this story and found him only to be redeeming when he was dealing with Tyler, for most of the story I just wanted to throat punch him. This was a gritty and dark story and packed full of action and twists that will keep you hooked, but there is a darkness underlying and I will be honest that I enjoyed this one but not as much the rest of the series.
My first instinct when reading this book was apprehensive at the way Alex was described and treated by the other characters but as the story develops and she is welcomed into the fold of the MC with open arms it was quite heart warming. I really enjoyed this book despite my early reservations. Again another book in this series I wasn't able to put down ..I am now going on to the next one even though I know its going to be an emotional story. I think I have found a new author to add to my favourites list 😊
