Billy crossed the hall into his bedroom where Kate was plugging in the last of the electric candles she’d set in each window. She flicked it on. “I guess that’s that.” His hand covered hers. “Do me a favor and don’t turn this one off. I want to know there’s a light burning in our bedroom window until I come home.”
When a world tour opening for a major band suddenly falls through, Billy McDonald is forced to take the only gig available, even if it means he’ll be spending the holidays on the other side of the country.
Christmas has always been Kate’s favorite holiday. But this year, she just can’t get into the spirit. With Billy on tour, her best friend on vacation in Hawaii, two young children to wrangle, a Santa’s Workshop to run, and an extended visit from her estranged mother looming, Kate needs a Christmas miracle.
Set in 1995, “You’re All I Want for Christmas” is a holiday novella from the “Of Love and Madness” series.
A great little novella about Katie and Billy when the kids were younger. I was so happy to get a glimpse of their lives during those twenty years that we missed.
Billy has to go on tour and miss some holidays. They try to make a plan to see each other but things don't always work out the way we want them to...or do they? ;)
I loved all the things they did at Christmas but Katie wore me down. I guess it doesn't help that we just got through Christmas and it hits a little too close to home!
It was bittersweet having some more time with Joey but as always, I love how he's always there for Katie. It would've been great to get his POV.
A nice little vignette of a Christmas that almost wasn't for Billy, Kate and their children. I read this after books 1-3. The time period is between books 1 and 2. For me, I prefer having read this last. However, many readers may want to read this one as 1.5 because it does provide some insights into the love between Billy and Kate and Billy's love of his family.
This story was fantastic!!!!. Every body happy for the holidays and lots of love to go around!!!. Who could ask for a better story for these people😂😋. Just FANTASTIC!! Karen is a Fantastic storyteller and PHENOMENAL writer😎😍.
It may be that I read this series back to back that this little novella didn't do a whole lot for me. It was out of sequence so if I had to do this over again I would read this book second. That is the time frame it falls into. Between books one and two. I loved this series and its available through Kindle Unlimited.
This takes us back to when Kate is about 25 and Billy 30. It spans about a month and really shows how Billy loves and miss's his family while on the road. Also how Kate is pretty much a single mother to 2 young children. It spans about a months time and we also get a little of Uncle Joey always being there for Kate.
UGGGGG this book was so good, but way to short. I love reading about Billy and Katie. If Ms. Cimms put out a book every month about them it would not be enough. She has a way of writing that I feel like I am in the book and feeling what they are feeling. If I could change one thing about this one, it would be I would have liked to read about them in the future, you know, after the third book left off. BUT I won't complain because I love everything about this couple and will continue to read anything about them.
I thought I had finished the series but I found this gem. This was a great addition. In the series Of Love and Madness we do not get an opportunity to experience life while the kids were small. There is a large gap between book one and two. It would have been nice but I know why the author did it. So this was icing on the cake. The readers also get another chance to witness the awesome relationship between Joey and Kate. Yes, this is not a stand alone. And even better, it’s Christmas. Remember when Brad Pitt had long hair? Now add a Santa hat. Yassssss! Need I say more?
Karen Cimms sure knows how to stay true to her characters, unafraid to reveal all their flaws along with their deep love for each other! A very good Christmas read!
Having the story line come so far out of since with the rest of the series was an issue for me. The timeline jumped back so far that several of the characters had to be revived.
I enjoyed the over all series, and was really looking forward to a follow-up, not a fall back. Hopefully in the future we can get some closure on Devin and Rhiannon and even a HEA for Tom (maybe with C.J?).
A great read! It was awesome getting a glimpse into Billy and Katie’s early life again. Billy is off on tour and isn’t going to make it home for Christmas and Katie is left to make a happy Christmas for her kids. Will Santa bring her what her heart desires?
omg... this is my favorite series.. this book just top the cake with a cherry... love Billy and Katie story.. I'm so in love and emotionally invested in there love.. Karen you brought me into a book and blew me away.. thank you for writing this story and letting us enjoy this roller coaster of emotions.. best author .... best series.. must read..
I’m so thankful for this short little story! I never wanted Kate and Billy’s story to end! Their story was truly epic and it completely slayed me. I loved every minute of this little gem. Thank you Karen Cimms for Kate and Billy’s amazing story!
Karen you are amazing. This series was brilliantly done with such a story line it was impossible not to fall in love with everything in this book.. I’m looking forward to reading more of your work. Thank you!
Come and join some of your favorite characters to see how they make it through Christmas. It's short but sweet and you will enjoy this one just as well.
This series made me cry, laugh and had a hard time putting it down. Loved Joey and the love of Billy and Katie was one of the best love stories on a musician I have read. I am married to a bass player and know about the life of a musician. Hope you write a book about the kids and how Billy and Katie are doing
This book was a bonus for Kate and Billy story. The setting was Christmas time when the kids are young and Billy is traveling with a band. It gives some glimpses into their early years raising family but most importantly their life is still there
This is a short novella that just gives you a little more Kate and Billy. This tells a story of one Christmas in their life when the kids were young enough to still believe in santa. If you read the rest of the series you will want to read this too.
What can I say? Fantastic! Once again, Karen has managed to completely trap me in a wonderful world filled with love an emotion. This is a perfect glimpse into Katie and Billy's relationship: the longing to be together, the lust, the passion, the understanding, the tenderness and the ever growing love. It was a bonus to see a little more of Joey, such a beautiful and gentle soul, always there for his beloved Katie. Also, this gives us an idea of what we later see happening with Rhiannon: I love how her personality starts to show at this short age. And Dev, he could not be cuter than this, it was perfect, so much that I could almost smell him.
I would love to keep reading about this couple, really, I'll never get tired of them ;)
Short but very sweet! Christmas just won't be the same for Kate, Billy, and their kids...Billy has to be in LA over the holidays with his band. The only bright spot is that Kate has plans to join Billy for New Years in New York with her mother coming to stay for the holidays. Kate's plans fail when her mother cancels.
A Christmas miracle comes true for this special little family and all of our favorite characters make their dreams complete.
I love these characters and this was a special little story...our gift from Karen Cimms!
While this story is a stand alone and you do not need to have read the Of Love and Madness trilogy to appreciate it, you really should. This little snippet into the lives of Kate and Billy really enriches the trilogy. It gives some character development to a couple of the minor characters and helps you to understand them in the trilogy. Not that it makes them any more or less likeable. Make time for this book this holiday season, you won't regret it.
When I first found your first book I didn’t know what to expect.then I realized there were two more in this series.i couldn’t put it down, I ended up reading or 4 in two days. I sad that it ended but glad it was a happy ended: just wish the second book didn’t start when they been married for over twenty years: I like to just say your an amazing writer and the way the story was written you express many issues that happen in real life. For that thank you.
I am so glad that Katie and Billy bugged Karen enough that she wrote another story with my favorite couple. I can't get enough of these two. And Joey, how I love her bestest friend Joey. What a lovely story. If you haven't read these books, get thee to a book store now and buy them. Thanks Karen, I can't wait for the next one.
