When a hot BMX champion butts head with a woman who could kick his arse, it’s only a matter of time before the gloves are off and the heat is on.
What happens when the unexpected flips your world upside down?
That’s the question Jax Ryan must answer when everything he knows and loves is tipped on its head. Adjusting to his new reality is not easy. Throw in the woman of his dreams, who won’t even give him the time of day, and Jax is out of his element.
Bentley La Roche is tough. She’s a fighter, literally. In her spare time, she can be found with the best MMA fighters on the Gold Coast. But she’s guarded and has no interest in getting involved with anyone, especially Jax Ryan.
But when things go from bad to worse for Jax, Bentley’s walls are no match for her desire to help him. Breaking down is easy. It’s the rebuild that’s hard, but so much fun.
Megan Lowe is a lost journalism graduate who heard characters whisper stories to her and decided to write them down. She is based on the Gold Coast but her heart belongs to New York City. She writes new adult/ contemporary romance novels with sports and music themes.
Breaking Down by Megan Lowe a sublime five-star read that will have you breaking down. This is the forth book in the Rocking Racers series, and what a series, each story is about one of the Ryan boys. This time is the turn of baby of the family Jax Ryan BMX god, freestyle rider and a natural talent that few can rival. He has everything a man could ever want or need, until one tumble brings everything crashing down around his ears and as Jax finds out breaking down is easy, but fixing up again isn’t so easy. Throw in someone who doesn’t react to Jax the way that most women do (throwing themselves at him) Bentley La Roche is more likely to throw a punch at him that herself, but she also needs help putting herself together after someone broke her down. Megan Lowe is a great author, I love the family tree and translation at the beginning as there are some aussieisms in the story and these help you understand those, you get to see the Ryan family as they struggle and you are kept on your seat wondering what will happen next, and keep you reading as you need to know. I’m not ashamed to admit I may have shed a tear or two once or twice during the story. This has been a great story and I can’t wait until we get the next story in the Rocking Racers series.
What are some of my favorite tropes or genres? Well that is easy - anything sports romance related definitely gets my goats. Seriously, since I dived into sports romance last year, I will give into any sports genre a go at this point! I was really excited about the synopsis for Breaking Down, not only was this my first BMX type of sport related but also my first Megan Lowe book.
So lets just kick start this review shall we?
The best part about the protagonists perspectives is that there is great blend of charming and hilarious aspects between both of them. On the one side you have the guarded, hard like personality from the female lead Bentley. I loved her hard ass presence during the novel. It was nice to see that for once, the female lead was the take charge, punch you in the face kind of gal, the one who wanted no relationship. I really enjoyed her personality. Especially how she had Jax's back as their relationship developed while more importantly did not put up with his bullshit.
On the one hand we had Jax. This is where my slight dislike for the novel comes into play. I wanted to like Jax, but at the beginning he was so whiny. He complained so much about everything - I couldn't stand it. Though I have to say the man grew on me. Jax is a big softy; I mean seriously, the man and his flipping kitten Buttons - I just can't. I think honestly he irked me because he did complain but honestly it was extremely relatable situations to which he also really grew as a character.
I believe this is ultimately what made me overall enjoy the novel. I liked Lowe's writing style, I loved how the chemistry of Jax and Bentley combined. With Bentley being the guarded character while Jax was the immature character. Their passion, the way they fed off of one another, it was really emotional. I would have liked a little more tension that was there at the beginning, but nonetheless, there were sparks my friends.
Although it took a little for me to get into due to the characters at first plus the fact I had a slight pet peeve with Jax's somewhat whiny personality, I overall liked the novel. Hell, enough for me to realize I needed to buy the other first three books in the Rocking Racers Series. From the writing style of Lowe, the steamy romance between Jax and Bentley that was just easy flowed with the story that was beautifully paced - I couldn't sit here without recommending you giving this author a read.
Breaking Down (Rocking Racers Book 4) by Megan Lowe is the fourth book in her Rocking Racers series. I highly suggest that you read these books in order but it is not necessary. I think reading them would bring a more enjoyment and understanding of this series. I enjoy this author's writing style and attention to details. This story is easy flowing and engaging. She has the ability to pull you in from the first word and keep you engaged until the last page. Her characters took me on an emotional journey of emotions that I didn't want to put down. I found this book like the others in this series to be fast paced, I had a hard time putting this book down. This is Jax's story. Jax is a BMX rider and that is pretty much all he knows. His world has just been up ended and with that reality that is hard for him to adjust too. Then this author throws a girl in the mix. Bentley and Jax don't necessarily get along which is a little different for him. Bentley is a MMA fighter and has no interest in having a relationship with anyone including Jax. Will they be able to break down each other's walls? Will they let themselves be loved? Now is the time to rebuild life but will they allow for that opportunity? I enjoyed both of these characters. They are strong and independent. They both have some attitude that make them interesting. They know what they want and how to get it. I enjoyed the banter back and forth but at the same time I was hoping that they would have a happy ending. They have such great chemistry. If they would just stop fighting their feelings. This author is great at adding twists and turns into her stories and this one will won't see coming. It was great how this author added previous character old and new into this book. I always love seeing what characters from previous stories are doing. I highly recommend this book. I know you will want to see what Jax's story is. What journey will they take you on, will fate allow them to find their hearts in time?
Rocking Racers is a fantastic series and I have enjoyed each story as it has come along. Those Ryan brothers are all super hot and each brother possesses a talent that allows them to soar to new levels with their skills and each also has an issue that they must deal with.
Jax is the youngest of the bunch and when he finds a kitten, I swear I said "awww" outloud. He's such a a gentle soul who acts like the alpha he thinks he should be.
Bentley is a vet nurse, an MMA fighter and a gentle soul with a hurtful past.
The two of these together cause sparks to fly.
While this is book 4 in the series, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. It was fun seeing some of the Ryans we met in previous stories.
I absolutely recommend this story and the entire series.
Review of Breaking Down (Rocking Racers #4) by Megan Lowe
Review done for Hooked on Books
4 out of 5 stars
Jax Ryan is on top of the BMX racing world. At least he was until a devastating crash put his life on hold.
While on a needed break to visit one of his brothers, he crosses paths with Bentley La Roche. She is everything he could want in a woman: beautiful, funny, tough, and doesn’t put up with his crap. Unfortunately, Jax isn’t sure if he can put his heart on the line again because everyone he loves eventually leaves him.
Bentley La Roche will not fall victim to another man again. After her ex-husband broke her, she can’t trust another man. That is until she meets Jax Ryan. He is sexy as hell, but his ego is tough to take.
Bentley is a fixer and Jax is definitely in need of fixing in more ways than one.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a sexy, fun story. Bentley and Jax were perfect for each other. The story smoothed smoothly and I was sad for it to end.
Breaking Down by Megan Lowe is the fourth book in the Rocking Racers series and it does not disappoint at all, from the sassy main female character, to the witty banter of the main male character this book will have you rushing to turn the pages to get to the end of this great story.
I have read all the books in this series and although it is great to read them in order, you can still read this book as a stand alone but to honest who would. Jax is always that character who is the joker, playboy but reading this story I loved the way he is just so much more than that and although my book boyfriend list is huge, its just got bigger.
Bentley's character is a sassy, strong willed character but with all Megan's character there is always multiple layers to these wonderful people and Bentley is no different. I love the way that her and Jax relationship starts off with her not taking any of his crap, but eventually you get to see the softer side to both characters.
Bentley has not had a easy life and so she has built a fort around her heart and will not let anyone in, Jax is wanting more to his playboy lifestyle he sees his brother's settling down and wants to have a piece of that life. He thinks he has it with his casual relationship with Quinn but when he has a accident which causes him to rethink his life, in walks the most beautiful women he has ever scene. The only problem she does not take any of his white smile flirting and brushes him off.
Jax is determind to get to know this intriguing woman who has rocked his world. Bentley on the other hand does not need the hassle of this arrogant man who thinks he's god's gift, but when she sees him defeated after a yoga class, she decides he is a soul that needs recusing and decides to help him recover from his accident.
Will they understand each others hang-ups and throw caution to the wind and give in to the chemistry or will they end up just being friends. Will Bentley be able to get over the past she has fought so hard to overcome? You will need to read the book to find out. I love Megan's style of writing and being Australian you learn a few new words along the way.
Breaking Down is the fourth in the Rocking Racers series by Megan Lowe. Even though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. I do however recommend that you read some or all of the other books, as a lot of the characters, connections, and back story to Ryan Racing is revealed in that book. That information will add to your overall reading experience. This story focuses on Jax Ryan, the youngest of the Ryan siblings, and Bentley La Roche. I loved how Ms. Lowe allowed us to really get to know Jax and discover how much more there is to him than he first appears. He’s always been somewhat of joker and ladies man, but this is a bit of a smoke screen for the real Jax- as we soon discover. Bentley is strong and sassy. She has had a tough life and has fought hard to try to overcome her past. Part of her coping has been to build an ironclad fortress around herself so as no to get hurt. When these two meet he’s impressed and intrigued- determined to get to know everything about her. She on the other hand is not that impressed and thinks he’s arrogant. Will something happen to get her to change her mind? What unfolds next, you ask? Well, you really should read all the juicy details for yourself. You are sure to love it just like I did. The author has produced a really wonderful cast of characters; both the main and supporting characters, who are all fully developed, with interesting and individual personalities; they are also quite endearing- easily pulling me into their story and getting me invested in them and the outcome of the story. The book is fast paced and flows smoothly. I read it over the course of an afternoon. I am always looking for more of Ms. Lowe's work, and I am looking forward to seeing what she has up her sleeve for us next.
You must go down, before you go up and this is so true in this story. Each Ryan has had their own battles and their past curse doesn’t help the matters either. When your reality comes crashing down on you, how far can you go before you break? All you need is love, is the song that plays in your head and it couldn’t be truer for Jax. Bentley too, her story may be different from Jax’s, but be still your heart cause I think I would have broke down way back and not have been as tough as her. Guess that’s why she is the fighter and I’m not, huh! Jax is cocky, but the battle he lands himself in is also heartbreaking. Dreams are not meant to shatter; however, I think Bentley and family were the healing factor. Gotta say, this is the first time I wanted to smack Pop, but I truly see where he was coming from and he did what he did. No love greater than your parents. I loved that we got to see a male character be the focus and not always them being a hero. This time it was Bentley being the heroine that saves him. I love that we continue to see the Ryan clan in the Rocking Racers series, but inquiring minds wants to know, will Parker ever get a story? Since he’s content with him, is how I will say it best for those who have not meant him yet. With this said, each book in this series can be read as a standalone as it contains a different Ryan. You do see the clan, but you can enjoy the background given on each secondary character and that family tree as guidance. I love that these stories are told from a dual POV with a bonus POV at times from a secondary character that we all love dearly. Cannot wait to see where the author takes us on this Rocking Racer track in the next book!
Breaking Down was another fantastic read by the brilliant Megan Lowe in the Rocking Racers series! This story revolves around the baby of the Ryan family, Jax. Lately, he's been feeling like he's missing something in his life. Sure, he's got all kinds of BMX championships & trophies under his belt, but he wants more. And this leads to him being distracted during a competition, to where he gets severely injured, and now his new reality has his world upside down, so he disappears to his brother's house. This is where he meets Bentley for the first time, and he knows that he wants her badly. Bentley La Roche is super tough literally, because her spare time finds her fighting MMA fighters at the gym, and holding her own. But her walls are high, as she has no interest in getting in any type of relationship, especially with a cocky BMX champ. However, seeing him literally falling apart, squeezes her heart, and they develop a friendship that doesn't take long to develop into more. I could not get enough of this story, and I devoured it in one sitting, but still needed more badly when every word was read. Jax & Bentley's interactions were hilarious, as he's the comic of his family. And their sparks were insanely HOT, which didn't take long to light up to set the sheets on fire. But there was also a ton of angst for both hero/heroine throughout to get the feels going like crazy, especially with Jax & his father. There were a few twists & turns to get the f-bombs dropping, and again, plenty of humor to keep me laughing until my sides hurt, including with the cast of secondaries. I cannot say it enough how much I LOVED LOVED LOVED this story, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Breaking Down is book four in the Rocking Racers series by Megan Lowe. This is Jax’s story, and one I have been highly anticipating. The Rocking Racers series includes a collection of my very favourite things: gorgeous men, strong and independent women, deep family connections, and my absolute obsession, bikes and racing. I related totally to the writing style, understood the slang, and knew all the wonderful places mentioned in the books. It was like the literary angels hand picked this series just for me. I adored each and every word from each and every story. I hung off the author’s every word. Every emotion I felt along with each character. Never have I found a series so engaging.
Jax and Bentley. Jax was the quintessential youngest child. He was carefree, laid back, seemingly had no worries due to the older siblings ironing out any issues for them. Everyone wants to make the road travelled easier for him. He was typically spoilt rotten, but was adorable in his confidence. A devil may care type with a try anything once mentality. Bentley was not immune to his charm and incredible wit. Both of them had fears to overcome, which made their evolving love story a thing of beauty. With a few bump.bits thrown in for dramatic effect.
I simply absorb every word Megan Lowe writes. I read fast and sometimes do not read every single word. But I don’t want to miss anything, so I savour every detail of the story, big or small. I don’t even know what is going on in the outside world when I read this author's work. Such attention grabbing quality is to be enjoyed to its fullest potential. 5 stars.
Just when you think this series cannot get any better along comes Jax and his charm!! I fell for Jax and boy did I fall hard! I laughed with him and I cried with him – I never wanted his story to end! I have absolutely loved this series before and each story has been different but Jax’s was the story I was waiting for – there was just something about him that I needed to know more about and I got it and more in this book. Add in Bentley to this story and I was just completely and utterly captivated from the very first page until the last. Every time I think of them both I get a little emotional! Whilst I knew I would love Jax (he is a Ryan after all) I wasn’t sure what he would be like as a character. I knew each brother had their ‘issues’ by the more I read about Jax the more I just wanted to jump inside my kindle and give him the biggest hug ever! His cocky, arrogant bravado is certainly a front for how he really feels! When he first found Buttons – that melted my heart straight away!! I really liked Bentley, she was such an amazing person considering her past and although she pushed Jax away I could understand her reasoning. I cannot stress how amazing this story was, how wonderfully written it was – the whole series has been outstanding but the author absolutely knocked it out of the park with Breaking Down. I really cannot recommend this book and the whole series enough!
It was the first time I read a book on my phone and it was my first sports romance.
Of both things I was very skeptical. I never liked reading anything but physical books and I'm far from a sports person.
However I was very pleasantly surprised.
The phone thing was okay, I got used to it and the only sad thing was that I couldn't put the book in my shelf after I was finished.
The main character in this book is a freestyle BMX rider, so obviously this was a part of the plot, but even me, a complete coach potato, could easily understand everything and relate to Jax's passion without knowing anything about BMX beforehand. The love story and family drama was a much bigger aspect of the book than the sport itself.
But let's start at the beginning.
This is the story of sunnyboy Jax, who seems to have it all, but wants nothing more than a solid relationship with a woman. Jax is a very funny and sassy character and also really sweet.
Bentley (I really had to get used to that name, I always thought of the car) is introduced as a badass fighter, but after the first couple of pages she is rather sweet and timid. She's a vet nurse and careful in her relationships because she has been hurt in the past.
Those two need to find their happiness among backstabbing families, jealous ex-girlfriends and nasty BMX sponsors.
It was a really nice romance and I flew through this, so 4 stars it is :)
Breaking Down by Megan Lowe is the fourth book in her incredible Rocking racers series. This book is all about Jax, a character I was very much looking forward to reading about. And I was definitely NOT disappointed.
Jax is used to things going his way. All the time. But when they don’t, when things start to go wrong, he has to learn to adjust in ways he never once considered. Then throw in the feisty woman who could, quite literally, take him down, and things start to get interesting. Bentley is tough. Used to grappling with the hardest, this MMA fighter wants nothing to do with Jax and his past reputation. But things are always quite as clear cut as they seem. When things start to get worse for Jax, Bentley finds herself more and more drawn to him.
I loved Jax in the previous books and was excited to read his. This book did not disappoint at all. It was everything I hoped for this character and more. It is a great example of an author taking an already great writing style and developing it with each book. I was hooked right from the start and could not put this book down until I had finished it all in one sitting. This series has easily become one of my favourites. The books can all be read as stand-alone’s but I would highly recommend reading them all otherwise you will be depriving yourself of some brilliant stories.
Breaking Down by Megan Lowe is the fourth book in her Rocking Racers series and what a fantastic read! Breaking Down follows the story of Bentley and Jax, and what a pair these two make. Bentley is the smart and sassy girl who has been hurt by a past full of secrets. The walls that she has up to protect herself are high and wide, but there is something about Jax that keeps pulling her to him. Jax on the other hand is an outrageous joker who is always up for a good laid back time, yet the darkness in Bentley draws him closer wanting to make her smile. Getting Bentley is going to take everything that Jax has, and it will be a huge leap of faith for Bentley to trust Jax with her heart. The twists and turns of this book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end, wanting to know more about Jax and help heal Bentley. I can't wait to see where this series goes and how Lowe will continue such a great set of books. Lowe is a new to me author, and I am sad to say that I missed the first three books in this series. I didn't have any issues following along but now I want all three books ahead of this, so I can read it all again this book was that good. If you are looking for a steamy sexy racer book full of suspense and smoldering racers than this is the series for you. My TBR list just keeps growing the more authors I discover.
“I can’t hand all of me over to someone else again. I can’t give them the power to destroy me again.”
I have enjoyed this Rocking Racers series and feel this book out of all is most relatable to most. I feel everyone has felt these same feelings at some point in their lives. Whether it’s the unconditional love and support of their family, feeling you are a disappointment or on your own or just regrouping and rising on your own to prove to yourself or others you are worthy. That you are enough.
“I’m scared about handing that piece of me I’ve kept locked up over to someone else…”
This book had me feeling many emotions. You will be laughing at the humor and banter, feeling a sense of home with the loyalty of family, sickened by the violation to others physically and emotionally, hopeful to see them come out the other side from the growth of their own experiences and support system. I hope you enjoy the ride the Ryan family will put your through as much as I did.
“Maybe sometimes we need to totally break down before we can find our way home.”
Breaking Down is the fourth book in the Rocking Racers Megan Lowe and the best of them all. Don’t get me wrong I love them all but this book about Jax is the icing on the cake. Meagan has written four amazing books in this series about the Ryan family who are gorgeous strong men, beautiful and independent women. A family that has seen a lot of tragedy and have healed by the love of good women in their lives. A family who have been racing bikes in some kind of sport all their lives. It’s in their blood and the love they have for family just makes your heart melt. Sometimes though family love is tough love and it can break your heart.
This book had me in fits of laughter with Jax’s antics and feeling emotional at others. Jax is the baby the family and has confidence galore. He is charming and witty and generally loved by all.Now if he could just convince the beauty he has just fallen in love, at first sight, that she is is forever!!
This is a fun and enchanting story that you need to read.
Breaking Down, Rocking Racers Book 4, by Megan Lowe. This is the fourth book in the series and also the fourth book by this author that I have read. All I can say is….. WOW!!! I thought Reed and Mav were amazing…. I think Jax is right up there with them!!! All Jax Reed is looking for is someone to love and to love him back. He thought he had found that in Quinn but all it really was, was ten months of hooking up. After an accident, and his family hovering and over mothering him, he takes a page out of Mav’s book and heads to the Gold Coast to “find himself”. When he sees Bentley La Roche, all he can see is his future, he just has to make her see it too. Bentley has not had an easy time of things. While she enjoys sparring with MMA fighters, she will soon find out that she might be able to handle the cage but her heart and her head are not able to fight Jax Ryan. While I absolutely have loved all of these books, I really can not wait for Parker’s book!!!!!!
So I’ve been waiting on Jax’s book since Reed’s book!!! Because I knew he was going to have some layers that we didn’t know about yet. But lord I had no idea on what we were actually going to get!! I actually cried in this book and I just wanted to climb in there and just hug up on and cuddle him. I started out wanting Reed then I wanted Mav and Reed, now I want everyone of these Reed boys!! And Bentley, I love her!!! She’s Jax’s perfect partner in every since of the word. And I thought the way their relationship was built up was absolutely beautiful. They were both so good for each other and helped heal each other without realizing it until they needed too. This was the perfect book and y’all need to read these books. I hope I haven’t gave to much away, I always try not to. thank you so much!! And remember I highly highly recommend this book!!!
Breaking Down (Rocking Racers Book 4) by Megan Lowe Stars: 5 This is the fourth story in the Rocking Racers series. This story focuses on the youngest Ryan, Jax, and Bentley. I really liked these characters. Both have issues that they need to work through, but handle it well together. Both of these characters are supportive and awesome. Bentley is supportive, caring, strong, and kick-butt character. Jax is equal parts a gentle soul and cocky BMX rider. They go through ups and downs together. They have great chemistry, and they are a great match. I also love that we get to have updates on past characters, and get introduced to new characters. I particularly love Buttons. I have loved this series since the first book. This book is definitely my favorite so far in this series. I would definitely recommend not only this story, but also this series.

Breaking Down (Rocking Racers book 4) by Megan Lowe 5 stars
This is the fourth book in the Rocking Racers series by Megan Lowe, and while it can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest reading the others! This is the book ive been waiting for! The baby of the Ryan family, Jax. Hes always been an interesting character to me in the previous books and we finally get to meet and get to know him. What a guy he is. He may seem cocky and confident on the outside but like everyone, he just wants someone to love him for him, besides his family. Enter Bentley, the feisty fighter. Shes just what he needs and maybe him for her too!
As we got to know these characters I fell deeper in love with them both. What a great story and by far my favorite of this series, hands down.
Megan Lowe is a new author to me and wow did I love Breaking Down!
The characters are strong and fierce yet both have their insecurities and inner demons that they are battling. I love Bentley’s character and how determined and strong she was. She had gone through such a traumatic event in her past but wow! She has bounced back and is more determined than ever to not have that event happen to her again. She even has gone so far as to train in MMA! I love a fierce heroine!
Jax is a cocky BMX rider but quickly finds himself battling through injuries due to an accident. It was really refreshing to read a male character who is viewed as so strong and independent go through such a massive battle as he did. And even after his injuries he found himself battling an entirely different war which I did not see coming at all!
Breaking Down kept me enthralled from the very first page and even though this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone. I didn’t have any trouble reading book four without having read the first three books.
Otay so this is book 4 but can totally be read as a standalone. story. Jax is the baby of the Ryan family and when he gets hurt they smother him. He meets Bentley at the gym she wants nothing to do with him becauseod her past. I think Jax is my favorite him and Bentley are made for each other.
I received this for an honest review.. I have to say I have been waiting for this book and OMG I was not disappointed I FLOVED Jax and Bentley together they were simply AWESOME
This book took me on emotional roller coaster that I just loved..
This series just keeps getting better and better I love these brothers and these stories!!!

Breaking Down (Rocking Racers Book 4 ) by Megan Lowe
Breaking Down (Rocking Racers Book 4 ) by Megan Lowe is the fourth book in her Rocking Racers series.Ive actually been anxiously waiting for this book to come out.Ive fell in love with all the characters in every single book.I do however recommend you read the first three books in this series gives you back story on what's been going on and gives insight on the other characters. Plus I'm a stickler for reading series in order. This one was no different than the others I devoured it in one day ,I couldn't put it down if my life depended on it.Megan is fastly becoming one of my top favorite authors.Love, love her style of writing and her ability to grab your attention from the beginning and keep it till the end. Her characters are all loveable. They definitely take you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. Get ready for an emotional journey .This story is about Jax.Jax is a BMX rider and is all he knows pretty much I mean he has grown up in a racing family after allJax's world has just been turned upside down and he's not sure what to do reality is sitting in and it's a hard thing to adjust to.Then in comes Bentley, she's not like any other women and her and Jax don't exactly get along . Bentley is a badass MMA Fighter and has not one ounce of interest in a relationship with anyone including Jax.Can these two break down each others walls? Can these two have a relationship? I absolutely loved both Jax and Bentley 's characters, there both strong and independent and their attitudes I loved the most. Both know what they want and both know how to get it.There chemistry is off the wall but can they stop fighting the attraction they both have for each other? There are a few twists and turns ypu don't see coming but so worth reading. I highly recommend this book heck the whole series ypu won't be disappointed. Get ready for one heck of a emotional roller-coaster ride dive in and find out what happens between Jax and Bentley. I look forward to seeing what Megan comes put with next.

This is my 2nd book by this author as well as the 2nd book I've read in this series. I really liked the 1st in this series but I absolutely loved this one. I'll start by commenting on the family unit in this story, it was awesome and I love how they stick together and their bonds are so strong, even when it seems those bonds are being tested.
Jax is the youngest of the family and has no problem boasting about being the BMX champion and has no self esteem issues as far as bragging about being the best, that is until the girl he has chosen to spend the rest of his life with moves on to someone else leaving him heartbroken and confused.
While competing at the extreme games he finds himself on the ground, not sure what has happened, knowing he could complete that move in his sleep and has sustained another concussion, this one being his fourth and a broken collarbone. Laid up and his family being completely over the top taking care of him he heads out, runs away, deserts his family with no word to anyone, and heads to his brothers who did the same thing, albeit for different reasons a while back.
Still hurting from both his injuries and his breakup he meets Bentley...Their first meeting cracked me up, and their continued interactions were awesome and had me laughing out loud more than once. Bentley is strong and sassy and tough on the outside, but thats just to protect the broken she has on the inside. Can these two who believe they are at their lowest help each other heal and become friends, and if Jax has his way even more than friends?
One of my favorite scenes in this book was at the vet… I haven't laughed that hard at a scene in a book in a long time, Jax’s dude Buttons quickly became one of my favorite parts of this story.
I can't say enough about how much I loved this book, it flowed perfectly and how everything played out right to the end was positively perfect! I can't wait for the next part of this ongoing series.
Breaking Down by Megan Lowe is a must read! This is the fourth book in her Rocking Racers series and having read all of them I can say that the series should be read in order, this way you get the full picture. Plus, I've never been disappointed by any books in the series, they've all been 5-stars. I can't even properly describe my love for these books, I look forward to every new release! Each book somehow seems better than the last as I fall in love with these men once more.
Breaking Down follows Jax and Bentley, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one as Jax is a character that is so easy to love. And we get to see a very different side of him in this story, which made me love him even more. He's confident, successful, funny, sweet and cocky but underneath all of that he's a man with a huge heart, one that anyone would be lucky to have. Which is what makes Bentley so special as she's a woman who knows a good thing when she sees it, she's a strong and independent woman who has experienced a great deal of pain in life, yet she made it through all those obstacles. Jax and Bentley are such a perfect match! I connected with them from the get go and I couldn't be happier with the way their story played out.
Jax and the Rocking Racers men have a special place in my heart as from the very first book I was so completely invested since Megan's flawless writing style makes them seem so real that it feels as if though I actually know them. I can't wait to see whose story I get to read next. I would absolutely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for their next romance read!
Breaking Down by Megan Lowe is another sizzling book in the Rocking Racers series. We pick up the story following Jax the youngest of the brothers who is dating in secret but feeling insecure as his intended doesn’t feel the same way. When an accident forces him to take a break from BMX, he escapes to the coast to stay with his brother Mav, where he meets the mysterious Bentley. Bentley challenges him to see life as it really is instead of how he perceives it, and to recover physically and mentally from the accident. The author helpfully includes an illustration of the Ryan family tree at the beginning of the book. This helps us to refamiliarize ourselves with the minor characters we have met in other books which I really liked. It had been a few months since my last encounter with the Ryan family, so I was a little rusty. As with the other novels in this series, it was straight into the action from page 1. I loved it. The characters are really well written and the passion they have for their riding and for each other leaps off the page. It was really interesting learning how the loss of their mother, grandmother and others had affected Jax, the youngest of the brothers. Again I thought that exploring mental health issues in the novel was brave and enjoyable. Another fantastic book. Can be read in sequence or separately from the other Rocking Racers books, they all link in nicely together.
