London Hale once again brings all the smutty goodness with a light side of taboo. I loved this book!

Emery Collins wants a baby before she has to have a preventative procedure done to remove her ovaries. Her mother died of ovarian cancer, and Emery wants to be proactive. She’s also dreamed of having her own family, and she’s decided now is the time. She doesn’t have a boyfriend or husband, and she’s only interested in carrying one specific mans baby anyway. John Hamilton. Her stepbrother. Their parents married after John was overseas in the Marines, so it’s not like they grew up together. They become pen-pals while he’s gone, and they share their hopes and dreams with each other and become very close friends. When John comes home for good though he avoids Emery as much possible.

John can’t believe the awkward teenager he met at his mothers wedding has grown into this gorgeous woman. From the moment he’s back in town and sees Emery he wants her. But....he can’t have her right?! She’s his stepsister, even though he’s never pictured her that way. When Emery comes to him asking to carry his baby his resolve finally snaps. There’s no turning back, and he will do whatever it takes to keep her....and give her the baby she desperately wants. He wants that so much too. With Emery. Only her.

This book was blazing hot with LOTS of baby making practice. Hehe. I loved John and Emery. Another great read by this awesome writing duo!

Holy Moly!!!!

That was intense!!

I loved this book!

I was hooked from the very first page. I loved the characters, you could just tell they were meant to be together. I wish I had a John in my life! He's possessive and right down sexy.. (Lets make one thing clear John and Em are in no way related, they are just best friends.) If you are looking for a quick smoking hot, filthy even read this book will be for you. There should be a warning " will need extra batteries".

After years of wishing, hoping, and dreams Emery Collins is finally ready to make her move.

When came John Hamilton home he was surprised by his attraction to Emery. He tries to fight it with everything he has but when she comes to him with a proposal, every reason to deny his desires goes out the window.

But John isn't a "wham bam-thank you-ma'am" kind of guy, he wants it all. Can John convince Emery that this is more than just giving her baby? Or will Emery say thanks but no thanks to John lifetime commitment?

Knocking Her Up is a sexy, slightly taboo, erotic romance that will get your pulse raising and panties melting.

John is tall, dark, roughed, and oh so deliciously alpha. His love for his family is phenomenal and when it comes to Emery, there is nothing he wouldn't do for her. This loyalty and devotion to his job also proves why John is a hero you can swoon over.

I love Emery's strong will, she doesn't let anyone just walk all over her. She'll speak her mind to anyone and everyone, that makes her a heroine you want to root for.

Knocking Her Up is a fun, sultry read that I devoured from start to finish and loved every scrumptious moment. The passion between John and Emery is hot and sparks fly off the pages. I love the secondary characters in this read, especially their parents.

If you want a read that is fun, seductive, fun, and heartfelt, then I highly recommend you pick up this pleasurable read.

I love a good London Hale story they are so steamy with possessive heroes , likable heroins , seeing past characters from previous books , and short story line that sets the perfect pace / length . Oh my wet panties John Hamilton is so tempting he tries really hard to stay away from the one woman he thinks he can't have so he blocks her out but once she asks him a favor there is no way of stopping him and his oh so talented tongue . Emery is beautiful , sweet , hard working , and wants a baby , the only one she wants to be the father is her best friend who has been ignoring her since he came home what she doesn't expect is that he'd rather put a baby in her directly instead of in a cup . These two will steam up your kindles and have you panting by the end , I'm so excited to see whats to come for London Hale definite must read author .

Sexy, Short and Smutty Stepbrother Story.

This was a pretty good story told mostly from the Hero, John’s POV. John’s Mom Married Emery’s Dad right before John joined the military and left for the Middle East. Emery was a teenager at the time and they met at the wedding and became pen pals while he was away. Eventually they wrote and emailed daily telling each other everything.

However when John came home, the first night he went out with some friends and sees a beautiful woman across the bar that he immediately wants her and she looks at him and walks over and gives him a hug. He finds out it is his stepsister. Ever since he has been having inappropriate feelings when he goes to Sunday dinners at his Moms.

The book is short and very sexy and pretty good, there is quite a bit if smut, and not a whole lot of backstory or action, but sometimes you want this type of book, and that is what is fun about some of these short ones.

Knocking Her Up was hot. It's short but packs quite a bit of heat which I loved. I also loved how protective and possessive the hero was and how feisty the heroine was. I definitely recommend this book.

4 unexpected stars

My second book by this author duo, the first having been a novella length, Knocking Her Up was exactly what i would have expected after reading the blurb, not to say that i didn't enjoy the story, because i did. It's the type of story that will leave you with some happy feelings, because you just can't help it.

4.5 sexy dreams

John and Emery just seem to have been made for one another and the way that this author brought them to life, you can't help but want them to make it. To make their dreams come true, and especially, to find out exactly how far they'll go to make each other happy. This book is perfect as a pick me up and for certain, a book that will make you believe that dreams can come true.

3 “sweet girl” Kisses

I’ll be honest…the cover sold me on this one. I’m a huge cover whore and all I really need is a pretty picture to catch my eye and you’re half way there. The blurb definitely intrigued me too…I liked the concept and the added stepbrother aspect upped the ante so I figured why not. I don’t know what I was really expecting but Knocking Her Up definitely captivated my attention – I finished it in almost one sitting!

John Michael Hamilton Junior…good Lord this man can have me any way he wants me. He’s a former Marine now firefighter who came back home to be closer to his family…what about that sentence isn’t sexy?!?! He’s got a body made for sex and he’s a good, wholesome family man who loves his country – let me just throw myself at him now. Add on the fact that he is really a sweet, good guy wrapped in a beautiful package that also has one of the dirtiest mouths I’ve ever encountered. John’s a lot of things…alpha, fiercely protective and when he loves, he loves hard…just ask Emery.

‘Emery was sweetness and seduction, sin and salvation, all wrapped up in the hottest fucking package I’d ever laid my eyes on. She was my biggest want, my only addiction.’

Emery Grace Collins...I don’t think this girl had any idea what she was getting herself into when she proposed her plan to John, but I will commend her for coming up with a pretty brilliant idea. Emery was very loveable…sweet, endearing, with a fair amount of sass - enough to handle John! I do wish I had gotten to know her a little bit better because outside of the basics and how she felt about John (and the fact that she wanted a baby), I really didn’t know much about her. I liked everything I knew and I did want to know more, so I guess that’s a good thing.

‘While I hadn’t been on the receiving end of a whole lot of kisses, I was certain I’d been doing it wrong my whole life, because the way he did it… God. It wasn’t just an activity. It was an experience.’

John and Emery were easy to enjoy…they’ve got incredibly chemistry and off the charts passion. It was totally obvious how much they cared for each other, their past is established well enough, but it would have made so much more of an impact if some of that had actually been shown. I guess part of that is because really the only other basis for their relationship is the sex – which, don’t get me wrong, is super-hot and totally awesome, but I am a romantic at heart. John is insanely over the top alpha and I loved his devotion to Emery, but seeing their bond get established and really understanding those feelings rather than just jumping straight in and telling me about them would have been so much more impactful.

“You’re obsessed.”
I lay beside her, rubbing her tummy, my lips finding that spot behind her ear that made her giggle. “Obsessed with you, yes. Obsessed with fucking you, absolutely. Obsessed with making a baby with you, completely. What’s so wrong about that?”

So, this is my first London Hale book and what a way to get started. Like I said, I didn’t really have any expectations when it came to Knocking Her Up but I was definitely not prepared for the level of hawtness that I got. I’m going to have to look into some of their other books because Emery’s three brothers were mentioned and I’m wondering if they have books or will have books soon. John’s best friend Riley and his girl Kate also come into play in the epilogue, and I’m sure there has to be a story there.

“You’re my home, Emery. My world. And I can’t wait to make a new life with you. I can’t wait to have a tiny little you running around and stealing my heart just like her mama did.”

The ending was…simple, sexy and sweet. Perfect for John and Emery. The entire story was minimal angst but I liked the conflict and how it was resolved – it wasn’t overly dramatic and it fit the couple really well. The epilogue was more than I expected it to be which I was thrilled with (obviously). Given that I went in without any expectations, I’m pretty happy with what I got – super hawt, quick read that left me with a smile on my face.

You guys know how much I’ve been enjoying this series, but this one is one I should have stayed away from because it has a trope that I don’t particularly care for – step-sibling romance. Even though I know that there’s no blood relation, it still feels a little bit icky to me. And while these books are erotica most certainly, I thought a lot of the previous books did a really good job at simultaneously building up the relationship between the couple as well. In Knocking Her Up, we only really get to see Emery and John go at it like a pair of horny bunnies. Sure, the scenes are filthy and sexy as hell, but after a while, even I started to zone out. It didn’t help that there were some lines about “breeding” that I found to be wildly uncomfortable. Like I said though, this book had a lot of my personal pet-peeves, so in all honesty, I should have stayed away from it. Despite some of the personal ickiness, I did speed through this one. As always, London Hale’s writing is like crack, so the book is readable. The characters are also both very likeable. Emery is passionate about wanting a baby before she has to get her ovaries removed for health concerns, and she wants John as her first choice. She’s a sweetheart of a character. John, himself, was pretty great. He’s very devoted to his family, and is always supportive of them. I only wish I had gotten to see more of a connection between him and Emery! But if you’re in the mood for quick and steamy, give it a try!

London Hale’s Knocking Her Up is a fast, easy and sexy read. It is a forbidden story of stepsiblings who have found more in each other than they ever expected.

Emery Collins is the girl everybody loves and protects. She is sweet, honest and very likable. She lost her mother to ovarian cancer, but later, her father found a second chance with Yvonne Hamilton. Emery is a bit innocent, but wants to be taken seriously. Because of her mother’s history, she wants to start a family before making a life-changing decision.

John Hamilton met Emery briefly when their parents got married before going back to serve his country. From the start they felt a connection and became friends via letters and emails. They became close. But when he returned home, he realized the scrawny teenager he once met, is all woman now. And as his stepsister, off limits. His mother was happy and he liked his new family.

For the year John has been back, he has avoided Emery as much as he could. Hurt, Emery wonders what happened between them. But she wants to have a baby, and her preference is John, but how does she convince him to say yes?

Knocking Her Up was a quick and sexy read about two stepsiblings who want each other and find they want more. But will their family and friends understand? What will be the cost of wanting each other?

While I really love John, I felt a bit detached from the romance between him and Emery. It needs a little bit more depth, I feel? which you can't really get with the length of this novella. Love John's mom and Emery's dad <3

Temperance Falls is always such a great place to visit. I loved Emery and John and they were super sweet together. John was so endearing with his protectiveness and he was easy to fall for. He and Emery had such great chemistry and they worked so well together. I loved how their relationship built over years and they really got to know one another well. I loved that they wanted the same things and were on the same page. And John is just ugh. He is such a good guy and I loved how all in he was. And of course the book was deliciously dirty. So much smut and I loved it. Temperance Falls is always fun to visit and I can’t wait to go back.

This was really bad. The writing was terrible, the sexy talk was lackluster and because it was so short, it didnt feel like we had enough time to get to know WHY the characters felt the way they did about each other. There was a bit towards the end that was good though. I liked how Emmy didnt let John get away with making her upset and that he genuinely listened to her and corrected his behavior. Unfortunately that bit was only like MAYBE 5 pages worth of the 140 or so page book.

London Hale is always able to deliver a straight to the point book full of smutty goodness with a splash of taboo in the mix, but is able to help the reader forget their hang ups at the same time. Their ability to wrap a reader so far into the story that they forget their own personal senses of wrong and right is amazing.

This story focuses on Emery Collins. She has only loved one man her entire life, her step brother John. John and Emery have bonded through letter writing while John was away fighting with the Marines. However when John came home, he did not see the little girl that he met at his mothers wedding. He met a feisty and gorgeous woman who knocked him for a loop. They both tried to deny their feelings, but when it came time for Emery to decide who was to father her child she could think of no one other than John. Love does not always have clear boundaries, the question is will these two be able to help everyone else understand their love for one another is not as taboo as it seems.

Once again Hale has given us a hot and steamy story with a lot of heart. This goes beyond just about getting a baby for Emery. There are deep emotions for both of these characters for each other and having children that are present in the story. Hale does an amazing job of explaining the insta-love story that we are given through the letter writing aspect between the two characters. Hale also does an amazing job of involving everyone in this highly taboo romance. It is not just magically okay for all those involved. John and Emery must take the time to explain their relationship to both of their parents and their siblings as well as have to deal with the gossip from others around their small time. This adds a very realistic feel to the story. So although they get their happily ever after, they still have a rough road to travel and hard work to do to make sure that it stays that way.

I would highly recommend any London Hale book to anyone that is looking for a shirt steamy romance with a lot of heart!

Knocking her up was a quick and hot read. It has a bit of a taboo subject in it seeing as they are step brother and sister. But it's not as taboo as you think. Yes, their parents are married but it was a marriage done after they were both off to college and the marines.

This book will have you sucked in from page one all the way to the end of it. Emery is a sassy, independent female character that knows what she wants and she's not afraid to ask for it even if it means getting turned down. John is a hot firefighter who as the book progresses shows is possessive and protective side. After thinking of Emery's proposal to him he decides he's all in. Not just for the simple act of giving her a baby but everything that comes after. Family, marriage, babies, you name it he wants it and he wants it with Emery.

Will they be able to make a relationship work? Or will their family have issues with it and keep them apart? Can John give Emery the baby she desperately wants? Find out today in Knocking Her Up.

When I heard that 'Big' John was getting his own story I was hyped because I wanted to know if the firefighter lived up to his nickname. Unfortunately, Knocking Her Up didn't quite live up to my expectations. I think the problem may be more so with me because I'm not really a fan of "baby making books". They're just very predictable and majority of the plot ends up just being about sex, which was the case for this book. I know John and Emery have already established a connection but I wish we could've seen more of an emotional connection than just their physical one. The conflict was hardly even a conflict and I was left wanting more. This book may not be my favorite by this author-duo but I'm still curious to see what other stories are there to tell about the people of Temperance Falls.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Short and sweet with some pretty hot scenes. It kind of fell flat in parts but that’s bound to happen with something this length. The breeding troupe is strong with this one and I’m totally here for it. It’s all “I’m gonna put my baby in her.” I dig it.

First of all - London Hale can write smut. I've got to hand it to these two authors.

But when I picked up this book, I honestly expected a little more story around the many, many pages of John and Emery screwing around. Because that's basically everything they're doing the whole book. If you're looking for an excerpt to find out what this book is about, just read the title. Because that's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I just wish the authors would've taken more of their obvious writing talent to create at least a little more backstory for the two main characters, something to give the whole book a little more weight.
Now this story is just a novella about two step-siblings trying to make a baby every chance they get.

Knocking Her Up
By: London Hale

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Review by Kristie K

Another breathtaking trip to Temperance Falls, where true love knows no limits, boundaries, or distance…

London Hale takes us on a journey back to Temperance Falls with Knocking Her Up. This tale focuses on John Hamilton, former Marine and Temperance Falls firefighter; and Emery Collins, personal assistant to a local bigwig…and John’s stepsister. No stranger to the “taboo”, London Hale ventures into forbidden territory with a step-sibling romance so hot, it might just melt your kindle! John and Emery haven’t been step-siblings for too long, but they formed a bond over letters and email while John was serving overseas. Their strong friendship flares to something more when John returns from his tour, and moves back to Temperance Falls. John falls head over heels for the forbidden fruit his gorgeous stepsister embodies, and Emery is just as taken with John. To avoid upsetting his family, and creating a stir in the small town gossip mill, John does his best to keep his distance from Emery. When Emery finally has enough of his avoidance, she corners him and asks the question she’s been dying to ask…will John be the father of her child? Floored, and incredibly turned on by her request, John finds it impossible to resist her any longer. Their electric attraction explodes into a passion unlike anything either has experienced before, and soon they both want so much more than just a baby…they want it all. But, what will their family say? Can their love win out?

As with their other novels, the dynamic duo that is London Hale had delivered another scorcher! I loved the characters, their distinct personalities and strong family values were endearing and brought a realism that I appreciated. John was everything a girl wants in an alpha male - his strength, respect, protective instincts, and undying devotion would make any woman swoon. And his utter command in the bedroom…dayum. What girl doesn’t want a man that can destroy her body in the best possible way?! Emery was totally awesome! Incredibly smart, business savvy, and an inner strength you have to admire. I mean, the bravery alone, to approach John to ask the ultimate question. Emery is a badass…with a sweet streak a mile wide. Their story was unique within its genre because of the execution of the story itself. A terrific story, with amazing characters, explosive chemistry, and enough heat to burn the place down. I loved this book, and can’t wait to see what this dynamic duo comes up with next!

I've gotta be honest with you here, I was a little nervous going into Knocking Her Up. "Breeding" books are not something I've enjoyed in the past. Truth be told, if this one hadn't been written by London Hale, I probably would've passed. I'm glad I didn't, however. I really liked Emery and John, and the setup for this book — her desire to have a baby, with someone she trusts, before preventative ovary removal surgery — made it more appealing to me.

I enjoyed the relationship between Emery and John, forbidden as it could've been considered, as he's her step-brother. They had a great connection and tons of chemistry. There was something really sweet about the way he stepped up to give her what she wanted most. Naturally, there were some seriously hot scenes in this book, but some of the dirty talk was a little off-putting to me. Don't get me wrong, the scenes were SUPER hot. If you're someone who enjoys baby-making books, you probably wouldn't even blink while reading. But talk of wombs and filling them kinda makes me cringe — must be that whole "I'm never having children" thing I've got going on.

All in all, Knocking Her Up was a great book. I adored Emery and John and liked how things built between them. If you're looking for a hot and dirty read with a fair few feels — and especially if you enjoy baby-making books — then look no further. I suspect you'll enjoy this one quite a bit.

I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

FAVORITE QUOTES

Emery was sweetness and seduction, sin and salvation, all wrapped up in the hottest fucking package I'd ever laid my eyes on. She was my biggest want, my only addiction.

Emery Collins wants a baby before she has to have a proactive preventative female procedure done for a female issue that affected her deceased mother . She has always wanted her own family and in order to have that family she has always wanted, she needs to do it now before she has this proactive procedure done. Only problem is , she isn’t married, doesn’t have a boyfriend and there is no one on her horizon that she could look to for help –except there is one person, one person she would definitely love to carry one man’s baby-- John Hamilton. Her stepbrother.
Their parents married after John was overseas in the Marines, so it’s not like they grew up together. They were pen pals when John was overseas in the Marines but now that he is home , he avoids Emery as much possible. John is very attracted to Emery but he doesn’t think she feels the same.. she is his stepsister, the teenager who came into his life when his mom married her dad and is now this beautiful woman is in her place. He is completely freaked out by it. What is John to do… and when Emery comes to him , telling him of her plans, wanting to have a baby and asking him to “donate to the cause” and be her baby’s father well that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. John knew he needed Emery like he needed his next drink of water and he was going to make sure Emery knew this…
What will happen? Will Emery realize that she can trust John and they have a true HEA? Or will outside sources try to break them up? This is one spicy and sizzling step siblings romance story which will get the engines going!!

FINAL DECISION: The one is really hot. John really cares for Emery, but he is much more dominant in this relationship. There is a slight taboo with stepbrother/stepsister romance although they didn't grow up together.

THE STORY: Emery Collins wants a child -- now. She also wants John Hamilton, so she decided to ask John to be the father of her child. The complication is that John is Emery's stepbrother. John is worried about his attraction to Emery will explode the family that means so much to them all. But at the same time, Emery and John have secretly wanted one another for over a year.

OPINION: I enjoyed this one. I wanted more drama with the family, but the story is pretty quick and focused more on Emery and John practicing to get pregnant than anything else. I enjoyed how Emery and John clearly have cared for one another for quite a while and only the family relationship is keeping them apart. In some ways, this is also a friends-to-lovers story. One interesting thing about the Temperance Falls series is that people are not shocked or angry at the relationships that would be expected to cause trouble. The story doesn't really go beyond the tropes that are layered on one another: stepbrother/stepsister, friends to lovers, help to get pregnant. But that shorthand makes this a generally enjoyable story.

WORTH MENTIONING: This is a short novella of about 90 pages.

CONNECTED BOOKS: KNOCKING HER UP is the seventh book in the Temperance Falls series. The books take place in the same town but are only loosely connected so this book works as a standalone.

STAR RATING: I give this book 3.5 stars.

I wanted something quick, smutty, and relatively brainless, so I turned to London Hale and the Temperance Falls universe. This mostly delivered, but...the emphasis on breeding, especially in a contemporary, was a biiiiiiiit much for me. (Yes, I do realize I picked up a book titled "Knocking Her Up" so this is probably my fault.) Also in both this and the other London Hale book I've read (Talk Dirty To Me: A Younger Man Firefighter Romance/Sinful Distraction: An Opposites Attract Romance), the men in these relationships were RED-FLAGGINGLY jealous/controlling over their partner's work life, which I found very not cool.

Otherwise this mostly served up what I was looking for. This story followed John and Emery, who were referenced as a background couple in Talk Dirty to Me/Sinful Distraction, so it was fun to get to read their story. I did like the way John is immediately all in for Emery, no holds barred, and that Emery knows what she wants, goes after it without apology, and stands up for herself.

First I have to say that each London Hale books just gets dirtier and more delicious than the last; I think I've found my favorite, and then I read the latest and have a new pick. As with all London reads, Knocking Her Up was a quick one, but full of heat and a beautiful story to boot.

Emery and John have been raised as step-siblings for a while now - but that hasn't stopped their non-sibling feelings from rearing up now and then. Determined to keep things kosher, John has tried to stay away. He wants nothing to come between his family. But when Emery comes to John with a request - he's more than ready to let go of his inhibitions and not only give her what she desires - his baby - but also make her his.

Emery's in a predicament - she's got a deadline of sorts on her reproductivity - and she knows before she loses it she wants at least one child; and Emery also knows exactly who she wants the father to be. Getting John to agree to her plan might be hard - but it could also prove worth it.

What happens when you take two step-siblings who've been hiding their true feelings forever and give them a reason to let the truth out? Grab your copy of Knocking Her Up and see how everything works out for these two as they get a little taboo.
