Tina’s passion for the law and compliance blossomed whilst she was a serving police officer in the Lancashire Constabulary. The in 2005 Tina and her husband, Tony decided to invest in a BTL property for extra income, but made almost every rooky mistake possible. The experience somewhat curbed their enthusiasm for property investment, until late 2011 when it was suggested that property sourcing was a good sector to start a business in.
Tina is passionate about the property sourcing sector and has just finished writing her book, ‘Property Sourcing How to Stay the Right Side of the Law’. Her aim is to increase awareness, knowledge and professionalism within the sourcing sector, sharing her immense knowledge on compliance with budding new sourcers, established businesses and investors alike.
Privately Tina loves to read, travel, spend time in their garden and also drink red wine, not necessarily in that order! Together she and Tony have three grown up children, Rebecca, Sarah & David and live in the Ribble Valley, UK.
The only disadvantage I found in the book is that applying all the legislation apart from the mandatory requirements for this industry will increase the cost and lower the speed of doing business. There is a "sweet spot" to be found to ensure sufficient compliance and high professionalism by doing extra compliance and due diligence in sourcing properties for investors. I agree that Policies, Procedures, Processes and Informational Guides are factors which show professionalism. Overall I enjoyed this book because it builds the foundation of sourcing compliance in the UK and it definitely helps if you want to start a sourcing business.
