A ramshackle book at it's best in footnoted anecdote. Many names are thrown about without much effort to explain the who or what of them. His story is in parts remarkable or better put his ability to light out and survive in nature and against hostile people defy easy belief. What did he get up to when he wandered off one day and returned with a broken but healed leg without much to say as to where he had been?
