This book was copyrighted in 1956. It is set in the Virgin Islands. I had a hard time deciphering some of the written speech and deciphering some of what I think were probably cultural references of the time and place. There was conflict between rich and poor, black and white, and so on. The previous history between an old white family, a murdered man, and a black police captain complicates solving the murder.
