RUNAWAY
SynGen needs Breeders, young girls drafted into two years of human egg production for the benefit of rich, but infertile, inner worlds. Lani Nichols knows Breeders never come back. The promise of riches that await her at the completion of compulsory service aren't real. Unfortunately faking her own death, disguising herself as a male and getting off world is harder than it looks.

When Lani signs on as an engineer to a scavenger vessel she hopes most of her worries are over. All she has to do is hide from SynGen’s bounty hunters until the two years are complete and she will be free. Instead, she is plunged head first into the treacherous life of space pirates. Faced with betrayal, love and loss, Lani must overcome her own weaknesses to survive.

Descent story and I like the heroine, but ends on a low note

This is an interesting beginning, but the crew our heroine ends up with I don’t trust any of them and most seem emotionally dead inside. The story also ends on a low note with not much being accomplish.

I am interested in the sequel, but our heroine has no friends and no one she can trust she is truly alone and while she is a great engineer having no allies or anyone to talk to makes this for a very lonely experience.

Welcome NK Howell. Hard to believe this is a debut novel. Excellent story that moves at a cracking pace. Characters are great. Look forward to the following books in the trilogy and anything else from this author.
