Who has the perfect love story? Certainly not Mr. and Mrs. Chatham . . .

It’s been five years since Davis and Nicole said their I. Dos—five years, two children, and a mansion on the hill, let’s not forget . . . their very own island. Perfect love story right? Wrong. Not when old habits die hard, and new ones are worse than the old.

This will be the ultimate fight for survival and takes them back to where it all started. In Fragments of Us, Davis and Nicole can only hope to put the broken pieces of their lives back together.

What can I say

This book was so true to life. It walked you through the highs and lows of a marriage. How you handle those issues that arises can break you or make you. Take the journey with this couple but dont forget your tissue.

So I wasn't a huge fan of the first book because it such a short story that it doesn't take the time for you to fall in love with the characters. I bought the second book because I was hoping to get a little bit more insight into the two characters. Honestly, this book is a good cautionary tale of what happens when you marry someone you don't know. The characters have the exact same issues they had in the first book but on a larger more detrimental scale. I honestly didn't see how these two characters loved each other unconditionally. Since the first book doesn't allow you to fall in love with the characters its hard to be invested in them finding their happiness with each other. I do think the author does a good job of showing the difficulties us women having to juggle motherhood, being a wife and having a career at the same time while trying to put in 100% in all those roles. The author illustrates that you don't have to be superwoman and sometimes you have to take time for yourself.

I rate this book a 3.5

Emotional Wringer!

Nicole and Davis went through some things! Marriage in its raw, unadulterated form, with a bit of the dramatic thrown in.

Some parts were difficult for me to read cause I could see where it was going and I wanted to prevent it. You know you're a good author if I'm screaming at my Kindle "don't do it, girl" and actually pray she hears me 😀.

I always know I'm going to be emotionally invested when reading one of Ms. Vasser's books and she definitely brought her A game with the Chathams.

I am happy about their HEA but I need Roman to suffer for what he did (hint hint).

This was hands down one of the best follow up to a story that I have read in a long time. Nicole and Davis is trying to navigate through married life and things starts to take its toll on Nicole after she feels Davis has abandoned his responsibilities as a father and a husband. Nicole starts to go down a dark path that will lead her into a compromising position that test the faith of their marriage. The one thing I love about this story that it touch on a very serious subject that a lot of people deals with on a daily basis. I applaud you ma’am for telling this story.

Family is the only thing that matters!

Davis had to come to that realization that he is not responsible for the world. Everything is not his fault. He blamed himself for what a terrorist group that tried to gain control of him. He had to understand the danger Nicole went through was not of his doing. She had to make him understand that money and material things were not important to her, that she would be happy living in a hut as long as they were together. Without him in her life, pieces of her would die every day.

On Nicole's part, she had to heal from her abandonment issues from childhood that she projected on Davis and their marriage. She loved Davis with all her heart and would do nothing to jeopardize their marriage with another person.

Lashawn wrote a very heart wrenching story about two people trying to live their life and raise their family. Even though they were rich, they still had problems of time management for quality time with the family. It also gave insight to how one can become addicted to prescription drugs and the affects it can have on an already strained relationship. The characters were complicated with complicated issues. What wins out in the end is the love for each other and family that they are willing to fight for.

I want a Love like the Chatham's

I received an advanced readers copy for a voluntary and honest review and below reflects that review:

I could not wait to read this continuation of Davis and Nicole's story once I heard that LaShawn Vasser was getting ready to release it. Yass Davis can be a butt but that man loves his family. I felt for Nicole in this story Ms. Vasser created a genuine story of her struggles and I'm glad that she fought for I herself and her family, very well told. I don't want to give to much away, but you will have the following in this story: a love interest, another accident, drug use, questionable consent/questionable sexual relationship, a fight scene and intense sex and let's not forget the island where this all started! I loved the follow up to Pieces of Me, Thank you Ms. Vasser for an excellent read!

Wow, Ms Vasser does it again in the second instalment of Davis and Nicole's trials and tribulations on their road to true love. I was recently asked what I enjoy in a romance story, and this book is the embodiment of the answer I gave. I love a gritty, solid love story with substance and this was all of that and then some.

This story for me was a true adult romance. I love that it teaches you that love's not always pretty, that to really say you love someone, you gotta take the rough with the smooth and be able to triumph over all manner of obstacles together. That's exactly what Davis and Nicole did and I loved their journey from start to finish. A fantastic read.

I would say thats it

Liked it. I was not felling it like the first but I think I think most sequels are just eh lately. Its a me thing in my logic. Davis was ticking me off even when I tried to see it in his view but it was hard. I felt Nicole was going to get used some rype of way. The book is a nice read when you are a fan of LaShawn Vasser.

Absolutely a great read!

Very enduring read. I've never been married but I hear how marriages have it's challenges and it was enlightening to read how people can envy another's relationship, believing that that person's marriage is perfect. Understand, it's an image from the outside looking in. The reality of it is marriage is a job, just as being a mom, employee, a son/daughter to your parents, etc... This is why I love this read it goes through the struggles and challenges of marriage. Drug/alcohol abuse, pressure of not feeling worthy/loved, lack of communication, outsiders attempting to destroy you, being a wife/mom. It's hard work. Very good read!

I am glad that Nicole and Davis got their HEA. I suspected that Roman was behind a lot of the angst between Davis and Nicole and I am glad that Davis beat him up. I am also glad that Nicole got help for her addiction to pain killers. Great story!

As much as I enjoyed and rooted for Davis and Nicole in Book #1 Pieces Of Me . I was more emotionally invested in book #2 and fell more in love with them and their children. A fantastic book be sure to read both. LaShawn Vasser never disappoints , she will give you characters that you will be able to relate to and fall in love with

Depressing, Skipped pages . . .

and pages. Did not enjoy this book at all. Wish she'd stopped with the first book. This one added depression (to me and the Main characters), drug addiction which seemed contrived and an unnecessary plot device, and that ridiculous terrorist angle. All to through trauma and drama into a "romance" novel? I was hoping he'd kick that silly, naive, needy, heroine to the curve. He was no prize either and contributed greatly to her need to escape a truly depressing life of luxury. I sure hope that this HEA is not a HFN, and that the author tries to milk this story for a book 3. I'm tapping out. I don't want to find out another 5 more years down the line this latest happiness was short-lived and she's now in prison for possession and prostitution after a relapse. And, he's in prison after finally being caught in the trap set for the Wile E. Coyote of terrorism, the Children of the Corn "Sherbert." Talk about doing too much when a little would have gone a longer way. That H was a butt and the h was equally unsympathetic. I can't say enough about how I wish neither would get a HEA or a HFN ending. You've been warned.

Oh they were going through it 😭. I was so glad that there was a sequel to the first book because I felt like the ending Pieces of Me wasn’t satisfying and I needed more of Davis and Nicole. But good grief we’re they going through it in this book.

I felt like there was so much stacked against the characters that they couldn’t pull out of it. Especially Nicole this girl was dealing with so much it was crazy. I feel like this is why the ending felt so rushed to me because so much conflict and problems were stacked against Davis and Nicole only for them to quickly be swept under the rug two chapters before the epilogue. It felt like the author themselves didn’t even know how to pull the characters out of the mountain of issues they had and just said “welp the book is about to end so all the problems are magically gone now. HEA”.

Also I felt like so much character development the MCs went through in the first book regressed in this one for the plot convenience. Especially Davis being basically a deadbeat was so confusing to me.

This sequel I think suffers from a lot of the issues I had with the first book, in that it felt like the author had somewhere to be every time she sat down to write.

I've read this book and series several times. Can't believe I didn't leave a rating. This is a great follow-up to Pieces. It's thorough and shares the POV of both characters, how they feel and what they are experiencing. I think it's a realistic view of what happens when two people don't deal with their past trauma and current triggers. Without giving away a spoiler, I also like that they avoided the usual escape route.
I continue to adore this Ms. Vasser's work. Highly recommend.
