Her second book "Life, Love and Vintage Housekeeping" is now available...
I absolutely love all of Alison May's books, and this one is no exception. So many fantastic ideas to take you into winter and get you through it with a smile on your face.
Another Seasonal treasure from the charming Miss May, She has the ability to make you actually yearn for the coldest of Winters safe in the knowledge that the answers to any Winter blues will be found in these pages.
i really wanted to like this book but it tries too hard, and the full-on ad within the first few chapters was super off putting. there are a few okay ideas but it coasts on trite, and overuses the word "cosy" to a criminal degree. it also is much more child-oriented than i assumed and skews older than anticipated.
Lovely way to approach winter by cozying-up the house. I especially enjoyed the seasonal essential oil recipes...I’ve used “four thieves” in my diffuser and the “winter cleaning solution” on my countertops. I only wish this book was longer!
I look forward to reading “The Spring House,” as Spring has become my favorite season.
In this small, but perfectly formed, book Alison guides us to live a cosy blissful life of loveliness. Glide through winter’s harshest months with Ms May’s hints, tips and recipes.
Another delicious read from the mistress of domestic bliss! Thank you Alison
My only complaint is I wish there was more substance in a way. It is a great read dont get me wrong with a lot of wonderful ideas. I just think there could have been more elaboration and ideas to play with. Just a little too short, but again a very cute book and interesting read.
This winter, when the wind is howling, curl up with this book and transport yourself into a home filled with warm and cozy ambiance. The author presents many suggestions to transform your home into a winter haven. Thank you Alison May - this book is a gem.
Yes “Charm” but far too little of it! It could have been triple the length and it would still be a booklet rather than a little artsy book. The ideas were cute but could have easily been expanded upon. Descriptions could be more elaborate or profuse or detailed and peppered with colorful adjectives and ideas.
This book is part of a series by Alison May and each one is a seasonal delight. Alison blogs at BeocanteHome.net and her writing inspires you to make the best of your home and this book is no different. I reread these little books with the changing of each season and always find something different to do or to inspire me. Highly recommended.
Short too short..Such For me a waste of money and time..nothing New settled down to read it and it was like eating poor canapes. Felt a bit cheated really...more a pamphlet than a book
