David Meyer is the next Clive Cussler!

Ice Storm stars Cy Reed, a rugged adventurer caught up in conspiracy, lost treasure, sexy women, and a world-threatening catastrophe. Cy is determined to find the Amber Room, which was secretly whisked away to Antarctica by a team of Nazis at the end of World War II. It’s his chance at fame, and a way back into the academic prestige of the Explorer’s Society. He expects to be welcomed to a pristine, peaceful continent. Instead, the greeting he receives is icier than the frozen tundra. Something is very wrong with Antarctica, its stations, and especially its people. Massive explosions, unexplained disappearances, and horrific deaths confront Cy at every turn. But present-day problems are only half of the story. Before long, Cy uncovers the ruins of a forgotten Nazi bunker filled with mysteriously charred bones. Why would the Nazis transport prisoners to Antarctica just to kill them? What is the connection to the mysterious "Garten Eden" operation? And what do these things have to do with the frightening creature cutting a trail of death across the snow? The secret lies with the Amber Room. There’s just one problem. Cy’s not the only one who wants it. Others have plans for the Amber Room too, and it’s a race to control the fate of the world!

Ice Storm made my heart pound and I loved every second of it. David Meyer has an uncanny ability to link mysteries of history, lost treasure, forgotten ruins, and cutting-edge science into thrilling reads. His novels remind me of Clive Cussler’s earlier work, only on steroids. His style is fast-paced and packs a tremendous punch. And yet David Meyer manages to build memorable (and creepy!) characters that undergo unexpected changes over the course of the story. David Meyer also incorporates extremely interesting themes and protosciences into Ice Storm. I really enjoyed how he explored man’s endless quest for immortality in all its different forms. I found his passages on tardigrades, cryonics, and life extension technologies particularly intriguing. It left me with a thirst to know more.

Ice Storm is an exciting thriller with unexpected twists and it exceeded my expectations. What I wasn’t prepared for was how David Meyer sparked my curiosity and inspired intense internal debate. Reading Ice Strom was exhilarating and I’ve reread it straight through two times since. I highly recommend Ice Storm to anyone who loves action and adventure novels and thrillers in general. Bravo!!

In true Indiana Jones style, Cy Reed is fighting Nazis. Indie never had an Antarctic adventure, although if he lived in the modern day, this is pretty much what it would be.

A Perfect Storm!

Ice Storm is the thrilling, heart-pounding sequel to the original Cy Reed novel, "Chaos". Jam packed with action and full of plot twists and turns, the story kept me on the edge of my chair for the entire book wondering what was going to happen next. The suspense makes it almost impossible to put it down. This is the perfect story for a rainy night!

The story begins in a Nazi laboratory in 1945. During a medical procedure, a horrendous creature escapes with a secret that threatens mankind. Fast forward to present day Antarctica, treasure hunter extraordinaire Cy Reed is on the trail of the long lost Amber Room, often dubbed the 8th Wonder of the World. In the grand tradition of Dirk Pitt and Jack Reacher, Cy Reed and his machete battle beasts, a blinding blizzard, and a host of evil doers in a sinister conspiracy that threatens the extinction of mankind.

David Meyer is masterful in weaving a chilling tale of madness, mayhem and science gone astray. The story reads like a Harrison Ford movie on steroids with graphic and disturbing scenes of nail-biting action and violence.

An outstanding piece of fiction, and I'd recommend it to any action thriller fan!

Loved It!

Wow, what an awesome book. Once you get started, it’s almost impossible to put down. Fast paced and full of surprises, David Meyer keeps you guessing right to the very last page.

The hero Cy Reed is a disgraced treasure hunter. While searching for the 8th Wonder of the World, Cy faces everything from murderous villains to ferocious beasts while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the extinction of mankind.

The author has a unique ability to blend history and scientific research into a riveting tale of intrigue and suspense. Watch out Dan Brown, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child…David Meyer is in the building!

I'm the author of Ice Storm, the second book in the Cy Reed Adventure series. It's an action/adventure novel along the lines of Indiana Jones or novels by the likes of Clive Cussler, James Rollins, Steve Berry, or Douglas Preston. Check it out!

David Meyers' "Ice Storm" is second in his "Cy Reed Adventures." "Chaos," the first entry by Meyers into his series, was a page turner; however, "Ice Storm" is even a little better. The protagonist Cy (Cyclone) Reed is a disillusioned archaeologist turned treasure hunter who is shunned by his fellow archaeologists for "betraying" the very idea of that profession. If you enjoy Clive Cussler, most likely you will also like David Meyer.

Certainly "Ice Storm" is a little over the top in spots, but it has a "beast" of impossible origins that unleashes a bloody rampage across the ice, so it can not be all bad! Once again, our protagonist is looking for a potential "germ warfare" weapon created by a Nazi scientists (a la Indian Jones) which is capable of destroying the world - except, of course, the Aryan race. Cy is determined to find the Amber Room, and Cy's discovering a lost laboratory, battling a mysterious man-eating beast, and exploring lost frozen Nazi lairs keeps interest building.

The book is fast paced and full of surprises; David Meyer does keep you guessing. For those of you who love action novels and thrillers, I do recommend "Ice Storm" & the "Cy Reed Adventures." Give them a try!

Ice Storm Rates 10 Below Zero

I have a lot of respect for anyone who writes a book...even one I don't much for. This is one of those books. The plot was all over the place, events were contrived and disjointed, dialog was clumsy...it was kind of the equivalent of throwing as much stuff as possible at the wall and hoping something would stick with the reader. For me, nothing did. I found it hard plotlines were silly, the writing was pretty weak...it came across like a old Tom Swift, Jr., meets the Hardy Boys story...Too ridiculous to resonate. Still, I give Meyer credit for putting the effort into his books and getting them sold...someone likes his work. I didn't hate this book, but I struggled to stay awake during the read and forced myself to finish it.

This book started out as a fairly decent horror novel but pretty much fell apart about halfway thru. The writing was choppy and confusing. Character development was inconsistent and largely irrelevant. I didn't like any of the characters, including the MC. He was shallow, and his motivation was something I considered ridiculous. Other characters came and went quickly with motivations that were just as shallow. The plot line and accompanying action were choppy and handled without any finesse whatsoever. So why three stars? The first half of the book was not that bad. The basic plot ideas were decent and could have paid off in more deft hands. Will I be reading more books by this author? Nope.

I made the mistake of reading the latest (and best) books by this author first. Now I am going back to his early novels and wondering why. His first novel ‘Chaos’ was actually pretty good – but the next in line, 'Ice Storm,' is a nightmare of convoluted plot, confusing (supposedly) interacting story line, laughable character back story (I think this is self-published otherwise an editor would have hold him to cut the garbage), and some of the hilariously worst dialogue written by a 10th grader. That said: I finished the novel because… I hear the third in the series is much better. (Here’s hoping.)

Very exciting book. It was hard to imagine working in the conditions in Antarctic. Cy spent a lot of time looking for Beverley and to
I
Cy was looking for Beverley and a artifact called the Amber room. All of these artifacts were from the Nazi time whee Germany was trying to figure out a way to take over the world.

sci-fi fantasy

I am embarrassed to have read to the end. Totally impossible for characters to endure the bodily assaults all of them suffered. Several gaps in continuity had me back up to see if I had skipped some lines or pages—I had not.
Read anything else;this is a waste!

Not bad

Needs some work. It's a little disjointed. I enjoyed the plot but it wasn't an easy read because it didn't flow.

A different perspective

A little twisted tale that was interesting until the final twenty percent of the store. It then went to beyond believable.
