Will it be a fairytale romance or a comedy of errors that becomes a horror story for two strangers who both want and need true love but fail to connect on a level playing field? Lily is mistaken for a wealthy socialite by the dashingly handsome, Rhett, whose billion dollar empire has left him hurt and mistrusting in the romance department. Truth is, Lily is the owner of a unique landscape, but she feels inadequate as herself, while Rhett’s humble beginnings keeps his own insecurities ahead of his heart and brain. Let the games begin!

Not sure where Cupid was, but thank goodness for some well-meaning friends who will not butt out, no matter what disaster has befallen these two who never seemed to learn the word COMMUNICATION. Then again, perhaps without all of that, the evil witch (spell that conniving, selfish, ex-girlfriend) could never have swooped in on her broom so often to cause even more chaos and pain.

Cinderella Busted by Petie McCarty is like watching a tennis match as he said-she said-he didn’t say-she didn’t say is volleyed back and forth repeatedly! Lily is charming, naïve and completely insecure in a world she has never been part of. Rhett clawed his way to the top from the bottom of the heap and has lost sight of what is important in life. Are they destined to just another statistic on the dating scene? Has Cupid forgotten his job? Have the interfering friends run one too many plays? A light read, with an over-the-top amount of should have-would have- could haves, set in sunny Florida!

Petie McCarty gives us humor, deceit, treachery and love, all rolled up with one of the best cast of characters ever! A classic battle of good versus evil in the business world is the icing on this romantic tale.

I’m sorry but I am just too cynical in regards to this book. I love a good romance and I love a fairy tale retelling but in all the things that are holy I just couldn’t stomach it and connect to the characters. This is purely based on my opinion and is to be taken at face value.

3 Cinderella Stars.

In my opinion when reading the blurb then starting and finishing the book it was not what I expected but I still did enjoy it though. It is a very sweet romance where a misunderstanding leads to further misunderstandings but has some funny moments in the book.

Lily Foster is a gardener but gets to live like Cinderella or to at least pretend to be Cinderella. She owns Bloom and Grow and wants to branch out into interior designing of flowers and plants. She is having problems with the zoning committee but beforehand she was asked to sell her land but declined.

Rhett Buchanan is a millionaire and builds resort complexes and golf communities. He wants to build a new golf course, one issue he doesn’t know about? Lily isn’t prepared to sell.

So there are lies and deceit an ex – girlfriend who throws a strop to get what she wants. But in the end with all Cinderella stories they get their happily ever after. And maybe my cynic self-did actually smile at the end and drop a tear or two.

(2.5 Stars) I love a good fairy tale re-telling and one set in modern times is always fun. In Cinderella Busted, we obviously get the story of Cinderella, in the form a Lily, a landscape nursery owner, and billionaire, Rhett. A mistaken identity at their initial meeting leads to a whirlwind romance, but when the truth comes out, it's hatred and disaster.

WHAT I DIDN'T ENJOY:
Maybe all fairy tales are truly this way if you stop and think about it, but I found this couple to be superficial, as it seems to be all about lust, not love. Two weeks together isn't long enough (in my opinion) to cause Rhett and Lily to go to the extremes they did to show such hatred, jealousy, and depression over the truth. I found them both to be very hypocritical, judgmental, and selfish. I wanted to love this story, but had a hard time seeing their actions and relationship as believable. I know others will disagree with me, but for me, as a clean book reviewer, the content is disappointing (see below).

WHAT I REALLY LIKED:
That said, I did enjoy the journey of twists and turns that led to the conclusion and found myself wondering how in the world things could possibly ever work out. This is definitely a fast-paced story. I found some of the friends very endearing and loved watching their plans and intentions unfold. The evil ex-girlfriend is purely evil and I wondered how that angle would resolve. I also loved the little hidden gems of wisdom, such as not jumping to conclusions before reacting, appearances may be deceiving, and learning to appreciate what is truly important.

Content: moderate+ amounts of profanity (no "f" word, but about everything else and a lot of them); moderate-heavy romantic elements (kissing--very descriptive tongue kissing, heavy innuendo, a lot of talk about sleeping around/being a virgin, one scene of almost nudity, but all sex is fade to black or not described, so technically clean); mild violence.

My Thoughts....

Wow, now this is the kind of read that will keep your attention because this author will present so many twist and turns in this fairytale ...it will be mind blowing all the way to the end! I will say for the two main characters Lily Forster and Rhett Buchanan...they totally deserved each other. Why was that? It seems like both of them had problems with the trust issue. I am not sure I cared for the hero even after I found out a little about his background. I kept saying if each one had been totally honest with each other maybe none of this would have happened to them. But that I guess that would be a different story. Then when this author adds in friends who tried to help, that Delia person and a few other treacherous people then you are given one heck of a story that will leave you saying 'wow' when it's all said and done. Be ready for a little bit of it all from 'some humor, deceit, treachery and love' giving the readers one fairytale romantic read that had so many misunderstandings that lead to more misunderstandings. I did think that the ending needed a epilogue. Why, well because there were a very important fact that I felt the reader would have loved to know...like what happened to Delia. Maybe since it seems like this is a series, hopefully we will heard some more about 'Ms. Delia.' Oh well, I guess all reads must come to an end but will we finally get a happy ever after from these two Lily and Rhett? This is where I say you must pick up "Cinderella Busted" to find out. If you are in for a good fairytale read ...this one is for you!

4.5 for me.
Dislikes first, although multiple rather small. I do not like the dishonesty thing. I get the beginning. It was a mistake. But by NY the truth should have come out. Then The reaction I thought was a little over dramatic. Just a little over the top. Although I did get it a little bit.
Now for the important parts, the likes. I did as you can see by rating enjoy this book. I thought the writing and characters flowed easily through out the whole book. Lily is a wonderful heroine. I really enjoyed that for ONCE a virgin was a virgin not only on purpose, but was planning to stay that way and not drop her panties the very first time things got warm (or hot in this case). Even with goading from one of her best friends, Lily sticks to the saving herself. No religious over tones, no whining about time, or being burned. She has decided that its important enough to save. I like that. I also liked that Rhett wasnt the liar. For the first time I can remember it wasnt some sleazy playboy who has crazed exes, or a whatever that hes lying about. The heroine was actually the one being dishonest. And about something so innocent. No too many exes, or an abusive ex, or something. It was just a simple omission, that really just messes things up.

Awesome!

I love fairy tale retellings so when I saw this, I just had to get it!

What a wonderful story! I absolutely adored the characters--Rhett and Lily--they were so lovely and unforgettable. While I usually hate deception in a story, I think what Lily did here was acceptable and necessary here, as I understand Lily's motivation and desire to extend the "fairy tale" for a little bit longer. I mean, if I were to meet a man like Rhett, I'd probably do the same!

The story was well written and the writing flowed, making for an enjoyable reading experience. When Lily's deception was discovered, things got more interesting and compelling. The twists and turns in the story make this story a page turner! A must read!

A nice Harlequin'ish love story.
While it's a bit shallow in reality, it's very full in the drama department.

Don't get that it should be a fairy tale re-telling though.

I'm on a fairy tale retelling phase, so when I read the description on this book I had to read it. I wasn't disapointed. Cinderella Busted had a plot that was a classic comedy of errors, where one misunderstanding after another occured. It was great...and the romance was really good as well.

This story was a perfect read! I just fell in love with all the characters except Delia of course! Lily runs a garden center and she also lives there after her dad passed. In the few years she has made it a very profitable place. She has friends that also work there Rob who is like her brother and Tammy who is like a big sister. The story unfolds when Lily is sitting in her yellow sundress reading over some pamphlets when Rhett one of her new clients is here to inspect his new plants for his property. Rhett is quickly enamored with Lily and thinks she is a customer and she goes along with it because she feels like Cinderella at the ball. He invites her to a party for a prospective client and she goes and is having a good time till Delia shows up and kind of forces her way in to the conversation and when Lily tries to escape Rhett finds her and they go to New York on a week trip. Rhett has to fly to London and the trip is cut short and in the meantime Delia sets up a plant delivery for Rhett and when he comes home early and sees Lily working on the plant placement he goes crazy thinking she lied to him just to get his money. She runs out in tears and vows that she won't put her heart out there again. Now all of their friends can see they are good for each other and try to get them back together. Can Rhett ever see past the betrayal he feels? Will Delia get that ring on her finger? On top of all this someone is trying to force Lily out of her home so they can purchase the land. I didn't see another book available yet but keep your eyes open I think it will be fantastic as this one. I gotta say my eyes were welling with tears sometimes for both of them.

Lily Foster is the owner of Bloom & Grow nursery and is embroiled in a legal battle over being grandfathered in on a rule that allows her to live on the property. She is very lucky to have Rob Shaw and Tammy Waynette working for her and helping her through the tough times since her father passed away.

When Rhett Buchanan walks through the doors of the nursery and believes that Lily is a wealthy customer she does nothing to change his mind when the handsome man asks her for a date, not knowing who he is. Lily feels as though she is "Cinderella" as she begins a romance with the handsome CEO, but is her time running out for telling him the truth?

As life explodes around Lily and the truth comes out, it looks like more secrets and lies are all around her and Lily doesn't know who to trust anymore. Yet those closest to Lily know the type of person she is and will do anything to make her feel like Cinderella one more time.

This book was great and had so many layers of trickery and deceit involved in it which was fun to read about. Lily is both innocent and guilty at the same time. I completely understood why she wanted to feel special and "escape" from her world as it hasn't been easy for her lately. I initially understood why Rhett was upset but then he was just pure crazy and Delia was just evil from head to toe.

I loved Rob, Tammy, Garrett and Aidan and their loyalty to Lily and her happiness. At times I wished that it was going to be a different outcome due to the loyalties that they had towards Lily and not Rhett.

There were definitely a few surprises in the book and some stuff that didn't surprise me at all! I would love to see another book come out with more of these characters!

Engaging Read 4.4 Stars
From rags to riches, Rhett Buchanan is a self made Billionaire. In his youth, he was humiliated by many, especially girls, for being so poor. After becoming successful, he became jaded. Now, he only dates wealthy prominent women due to a fear of “Gold Diggers”.
Lily Foster is the owner of “Bloom and Grow”, a high end landscape and nursery business. She’s as sweet and innocent as they come. She’s hard working, kind hearted and loved by all who know her. Lily is a hands-on employer. You’ll find her rolling up her sleeves, digging, delivering and transplanting flowers and plants right alongside her employees.
On a chance meeting, Rhett is introduced to Lily; an instant attraction is felt by both. She quickly realizes he thinks she is a socialite. Under false pretenses she accepts a date from him, with the intentions of explaining the misunderstanding after their date. Unfortunately, afterwards she is too smitten to confess.
The real story in “Cinderella Busted” begins when Rhett learns of her deception.
I found this story to be cleverly written, heart-warming and entertaining. The Disney references made throughout the book gave the story an enchanting and magical feel.

Lily has spent all her life studying hard and achieving her goals. She inherits the nursery from her father and her and her two best friends work together to make the business successful while maintaining his ideals. Then she meets a guy who she instantly falls for. Afraid he won't accept her for who she is, she pretends to be someone else. Can she get him to fall for her or will the truth destroy what might have been?

I really adored this book. I thought it was so cute. I also found it to be very powerful and uplifting. I love the positive message it leaves you with. I think the best parts of this book were the scenes full of suspense and wonder. The flow was nice. It was a great read and I fully recommend it!

This was certainly a fun little twist on my favorite fairy tale, Cinderella -- and with it, an equally swoon-worthy male lead name of Rhett. The story itself was a bit fluffy in parts, sure, but I went into it expecting a fairy tale-esque story, and that's what I got: including the quick love and forever of the end. Definitely a cute, fun read with some comedy thrown into the mix. A good read for when you want something fun and easy.

Lily's father owned a nursery and when he passed it became her business. Tammy her manager told her about the big order for a client. Lily came into work wearing a sun dress instead of her usual outfit. Rhett the client came in to inspect the trees for his new property. Lily was told at the city zoning that her place was being re zoned and she might lose the cottage and business. She also heard that this conglomerate was trying to buy up all the parcel including her property.

Rhett asks Lily out to dinner was he thinking that she was a customer of the nursery. She decides to go and have her cinderella moment. There was a problem you see Rhett took her to his ex girlfriends house for this cocktail Party. Things start to heat up between Rhett and Lily when they go to New York together but Lily wanted her own room which she got in the suite. He needed to leave to go to London so she went back home.

In he meantime Rhett's ex girlfriend Delia was jealous when she sees Lily and goes to find out about Lily. Dahlia had plants delivered to Rhett house when she knew he would be coming home and that Lily probably would show up. When Rhett gets home and sees Lily and Delia tells him that she owns the company. Rhett loses it and throws her out of his house staying what a liar she was and how she was playing him. Lily knew that Delia had set it up and she couldn't wait to leave.

Rhett and Lily keeps running into each other and every time Rhett is nasty to her. Lily thinks Delia and Rhett have gotten together again. Aiden, Rhett's nemesis comes into the picture. Aiden had liked Lily the first time he met her when she was with Rhett. Aiden invites her to a BBQ at Rhett's house for their Spring annual BBQ.

Aiden and Lily show up and when Rhett sees her he is pissed off what was she doing their especially with Aiden. Delia of course has to make Lily's life miserable. Rhett just stood there and did nothing he was still angry. Lily gets a call from this attorney trying to buy her property and she told him it wasn't for sale. A day later he cottage was burned to the ground. She still had to face the coastal zoning board. She goes over to Rhett's house to get some clothes she walks in on Delia and Rhett in a compromising position.

Twists, turns, deceptions, lies and attempted murder Makes this book exciting.

Cinderella Busted (Cinderella Romances 1) - PG13
Violence: none
Language: fewer than 185
Sex: descriptive kissing

The heroine is a virgin, so that gets a lot of traction for her supposed best friend who constantly encourages her to give up her virginity--BOO. The only thing Cinderella here is that the heroine is sweet and naive and the Hero has a lot of money. The bad guys are *really* bad. I like that the heroine's introduction into the Hero's society goes really well for her. She's quickly recognized as the gem she is. I also liked how the Hero's heart was softened.

I’ve gotta’ say this book has a very intriguing title. Even before I begin the book, I’ve questions. Busted how? What did she do? And so it goes, question after question is asked and as the story unfolds, enough are answered, but always there is something more I need to know. Hence, the continued read, delightful as it is.

Petie McCarty is a new-to-me author. I’m always excited to find an author who can so entertain as Ms. McCarty does. The story, extremely well-written, is suspenseful, as well as being a beautiful romantic love story. (Who can resist a Cinderella story?) She developes her secondary characters so well, I’m eager to read the continuance of the series. I hope she’ll agree to come on my blog and discuss her writing.

Lily Foster, the heroine, is a petite, blond, blue-eyed dynamo. She loves what she does, being the present owner of a growing nursery, Bloom & Grow. It was her dad’s dream, started 30 years ago on a 100-acre lot; she grew up in the small cottage on the backside of the nursery grounds. She continues to live there, obviously, for nostalgic reasons.

Lily takes a keen interest in where her plants go. She makes sure to have the nursery meet with the new owner of the plants, sharing how the plants should be cared for. Rhett Buchanan, CEO of a huge company and a billionaire, is one such purchaser. Normally, Tammy meets with the clientele, but Lily just happens to be in the front office, dolled up and dressed to the nines. She’d been trying to influence some city commissioners to see her point of view and the right she had to live on the commercial property.

She didn’t influence the commissioner, but boy did she influence Rhett Buchanan. Rhett thinks she’s a customer, same as he. They shake hands, a spark flys. Rhett insists she come along with him to the staging area to look at his plants and to meet with the sales manager, Tammy Waynette.

Excerpt:

“Good afternoon,” Tammy said to Rhett, flipping her luscious red curls back over her shoulder and extending her hand. “I’m Tammy Waynette, the sales manager of Bloom & Grow.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” he said and shook the proffered hand. “I’m Rhett Buchanan, and please call me Rhett.”

Lily knew that come-hither gesture of Tammy’s and watched her eyes light up—that predatory glint Tammy got when she spotted a handsome man. Lily felt a stab of unfamiliar irritation. Like iron flecks to a magnet, men naturally cycled to Tammy, with her gorgeous head of fiery-red hair and emerald-green eyes, and Lily usually enjoyed watching the show. But not today, and not with Rhett Buchanan.

“Sorry I’m late,” Tammy apologized. “Everybody wants plants before the weekend, and we had an unexpected order to pull.”

“No problem,” he said.

“So has Lily been showing you your trees?” Tammy asked and flashed Lily her patent I’ll-take-it-from-here look.

“Yes, she’s very knowledgeable,” Rhett said and slanted Lily a smile.

“Well, of course she is,” Tammy agreed, “she’s our—“

“—best customer!” Lily blurted. “Actually, Tammy thinks I’m her most frequent customer since I don’t buy stock every time I visit.” She gave Rhett a sheepish smile. “I like to look.”

Tammy’s eyes visibly widened.

***

Here is where a little white lie creates an exciting adventure for Lily, although nerve-wracking since she’s living a fib. Comical moments (not to her, however) have me laughing. How can she keep this fib a secret? Rob and Tammy see Lily works way too hard, so what the heck. They play along. Let her have her moment of being Cinderella. Enjoy a night out with Rhett.

But it isn’t just a night out, it comes to much more. When the relationship deepens, she’s trying to figure out how best to tell him and when. She doesn’t pop into bed with men either, so she figures Rhett will drop the relationship. Men always do. Rhett doesn’t.

Tammy’s words of wisdom:

“Never look a gift horse, girlfriend. At least, you didn’t tell him you had to be in love first, and Rhett didn’t boogie when you said you’d have to care for him before you slept with him. A lot of guys would have.”

In addition to this on-again, off-again romance between Lily and Rhett, both not telling the complete truth, Lily’s land is under scrutiny by the city, or might I say, a devil of a sleuth lawyer, Carstairs Whittenhurst, whose motives are suspect.

The antagonists are driven by greed and help to propel the story forward. I also enjoy how the author shows the relationship between Lily and Rhett growing deeply without the necessity of climbing into bed together.

Delia Armstead, one such antagonist, is very much her father’s daughter. Her daddy, that wicked lawyer, is ready to do anything for his spoiled little daughter. Bah, on them both! Lily better watch out! Delia has her sights on Rhett. Think of him, dear reader, as her prey.

Everyone needs to have a best friend who’ll be there to pick up the pieces. Rhett has Garrett (I thought him very adorable) and Lily has Tammy and Rob. All three play pivotal moments in the story.

Are Cinderella’s days numbered? Will Lily end just being the gardener she is? Will Prince Charming no longer be charmed? This is purely and simply a story worth the read.

A Modern Cinderella

A real life story with all the details and
multiple story lines that make it hard to put down. Restored my faith in people doing the right thing and also taking chances and forgiving others who wronged them. Great fun!!
