Pieces of Me

She had built her career singing the most memorable love songs that had graced the airwaves. She was Nina Hunt. Singer. Songwriter. Music Royalty--and she suffered from a broken heart.

Returning from her latest world tour, Nina became a recluse. The only way she knew how to get over her very public breakup with her movie star ex-boyfriend, was to put her pen to pad. Being a musical genius and star didn't mean she was without flaws. She had fame and fortune, but it all meant nothing if she couldn't find someone to love her despite her many imperfections.

Sid McFarland took one look at the woman in his office and knew he was in trouble. Her bronze skin, perfect smile, and sexy curves caused a stirring in his chest that he knew he would be unable to pursue. She was his client. She needed help, but the more time they spent together, the more he knew she should be his.

The intense passion between Sid and Nina should be illegal. Their steam filled passion was something that songwriters dreamt about writing. They are from two different worlds, and there are those who want to do nothing but remind them of how different they are. Will their love be enough to keep the world from tearing them apart?

Pieces of Me is a sexy and steamy interracial romance novel that will have readers becoming addicted to the writings of Peyton Banks.

Nina, an R&B Superstar (on the rebound) meets an everyday down to earth personal trainer named Sidney who appreciates all of her assets. Sid helps Nina to get into better physical condition and they both silently lust after one another. This story goes from 0 to 60mph when they quickly act on that mutual lust factor. Still, I liked both characters, though it was never established what they had in common besides their physical attraction for one another. I did appreciate that the author didn't mire the characters in this story in doubt and miscommunication, resulting in a contrived break-up.

2.5-3.0⭐️What I liked:

The book featured a black heroine, Nina, who is extremely appealing and memorable, especially since she is a megastar singer and multimillionaire (worth about $400 million). She is down to earth and not pretentious in any way. This story is such a welcome change from the pervasiveness of the male alpha millionaire/billionaire IR romances.

The hero, Sid, is a swoon-worthy personal trainer assigned to get Nina in shape or “healthy” as she tells it. Sid has no idea who Nina is, but is instantly attracted to her (as she is to him). Sid is one of those heroes who is quite appealing for several reasons, namely his integrity, honesty, loyalty and unwavering support of Nina.

For those inquiring minds, the sex is explicit, sometimes naughty and always off the charts.

What I didn’t like: First, the issues of race injected into several events in the story seemed to be contrivances rather than more plausible occurrences, IMHO.

Second, Nina is described as having hazel eyes, long hair down to her impressive bosom, and lest I forget, all that ass and those fabulous curves. My comments are not meant to be an excoriation of this author. I have read many of her books and I don’t recall this being a trend in her work. In spite of that, in my experiences, black women are extremely diverse in appearance-varying hair colors, styles and textures, tall, short, skinny, overweight, curvy, un-curvy, big boobs, small and medium size breasts, myriad complexions, slender hips, bubble butts, you name it. Undoubtedly, there are black women with hazel-colored eyes, definitely not a majority. The diversity that is us in IR romances-that is what I want to see more of from IR authors because after all, that mirrors real life.

On the whole, it is a pleasurable read. I fell in love with Nina and Sid; however, more character development would have elevated the story, and there could have been more story and a little less sex.

This was my first read by this author and I must say that I really enjoyed this story. Nina is a superstar R&B artist whose superstar actor boyfriend breaks up with her because she's gained too much weight. Nina's heartbroken and decides to work on a new independent album documenting her hurt but in the meantime decides to get healthy. Nina has struggled with her weight all her life, while she wants to get healthy she doesn't want to loose her curves. In comes Sid her new personal trainer, the two are instantly attracted to one another. Sid gives Nina the normalcy she graves and Nina turns out to be the woman of his dreams.

To be honest I thought the author would fall into the pitfalls of the characters insecurities which would lead to random break ups and misunderstandings. The author does the complete opposite and always makes sure that the characters communicate their feelings to one another. Outside of the celebrity aspect of the relationship, this is the first interracial relationship for both characters. Due to Nina being an R&B artist their often in all Black environments where most of the criticisms are towards Nina for dating a white man.

This looks like the first interracial book by this author based on her previous works and I must say she did an excellent job. My only critique would have been the lack of an epilogue, hopefully Nina's sister will get a story so we can see these characters again.

Another exciting story by Peyton Banks! Love sees no color! It just is... Sid and Nina's relationship was so heartwarming even though people were so judgemental when she fell for a white man after her jerk of an ex, Luke broke her heart using the weight card!

Loved it

Luke was a complete idiot and Nina was better off without him. Loved how she got hers when she publicly told him where he could go. Sid was the best person for her. He new her worth before he knew who she was. It wasn't about the fame or money. It was about Nina, how she completely captivated him as a person. Super big stink side eye to those who kept making it about race. Love is blind which means it doesn't the color and racial differences, just the heart and soul. Looking forward to book 2.

Undeniable attraction

This story was my first book by this author. This story was a good story. Superstar Nina was dumped but didn't let that break her. She did got herself together and met Sid as she worked on a healthier version of herself. Their meeting led to undeniable attraction and eventually a relationship with a lifetime status. The plot was okay, similar to others but a little different. The characters were good and relatable.

I received the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I’m not normally a fan of rockstar romances but none of them had the woman as the actual rockstar. This wasn’t just any woman but a strong black woman going for a normal white man. The opposite of what most might expect. It’s because of that aspect that made me love this story. You don’t see things like this very often and I really enjoyed it. It may be a typical love story but it’s a great one. I would definitely read more from this author!

Nina Hunt has made herself famous by writing & singing the most memorable love songs. However, she finds herself broken hearted from her movie star boyfriend, so when she gets home from her last world tour, she becomes a recluse. Her only therapy to get over it was to write. She also decided to improve herself, not what people thought she should be, but how she wanted to be, so she decided to get a personal trainer. Sid McFarland has no idea who Nina is when he gets her as his client but knows he's in trouble, because one look at her, and he wants her. She's his client, and he cannot go there, but the more time they spend together, the more he doesn't care because she should be his. They are from two different worlds, and there are so many people who are happy to try & keep them apart, so will their intense love be enough to stand keep them together? This is the first book that I've read by Peyton Banks, and I'm definitely hooked! Pieces of Me grabbed my attention from the beginning while holding it to the very end. Nina & Sid were so very explosively hot, that my kindle almost exploded into flames. And there was a colorful cast of secondaries that added a comedic element to the angst & drama. Peyton Banks had a talented writing style that I found both original & addictive, and I want to read more! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Nina hunt, a veteran in the music industry since she was 19. Facing a break up from her boyfriend and needing time to lick her wounds to heal. Her luscious curves are a blessing and a curse according to the media. She loves them but wants to make them tighter and get her body in a better and healthy way. Enters Sid. The personal trainer was hired to keep Nina in shape and on point about her figure to help and enhance her curves. Problem is both of them can’t keep their hands off each other. After a couple of weeks of trying to resist the inevitable, passion explodes. As the story goes on the media of course always interferes and Nina is attempting to keep her private life private and her public life in a respectable manner regarding her relationship if that is what she went to call it. This has all the great trails and should be elations of an ex-boyfriend and a possibly new boyfriend including all the money that she has earned while being on the road and being a megastar.

There is a HEA and of course challenges along the way about interacting and dealing with inter-racial relationships. I for one liked the story and didn’t give an in-depth insight on how the media affected their relationship.

Five stars is just not enough for this amazing story!
Peyton Banks did not disappoint with this well-written love story that captures your heart as well as your libido. This steamy beautiful story is so today, so real, this is love at its finest. The passion, the love, and the chemistry were electric. The texture of this storyline is so smooth and deep in the pain of relationships with respect and commitment to emotions that surpass taboos and other petty ignorance’s that are often brought into a relationship and especially for someone who is in the “public eye”. This story also speaks to the strength of the character of Nina and Sid. As Nina says “Love is Love”! It’s not about material possessions, it’s about two people who amazingly find each other and find the commitment, respect, caring and love that they both deserve. Sid and Nina never saw race as an issue, although some around them did, the two never let it get the best of them! I couldn’t put this book down, it deserved to be read through to the end in one sitting. Peyton Banks has become my favorite author with this book. Put this book on your must-buy must-read list. Can't wait to see more from this author, you have a fan for life!

A fantastic heartwarming story about an R&B singer who just wants to be loved for who she is and a personal trainer who's an alpha male protector with a heart of gold. Nina is a special down to earth woman who has been torn apart by an ex boyfriend and newscasters. Sid is a personal trainer who fall head over heels Nina but tries to fight his attraction. The chemistry and attraction between Nina and Sid is off the charts passionate. Pieces Of Me was emotional, filled with heartache, an angry alcoholic ex, self esteem issues, laughter, humorous wit, passion, and love at first sight. Readers will be captivated by this new book from Peyton Banks. This well written story and wonderful characters will have readers falling in love with Nina, Sid, and their friends and family. A must read readers won't want to put down.

Love it!

That was my very first book from Peyton, I bypassed this book many times & I finally downloaded it and read it. I love, absolutely love Sid and Nina, they are both strong people, even though sometimes Nina let people get to her with that race shit, but their ability to communicate always solve the issue... Sid didn't let the financial gap between them stop him from loving thoroughly his woman because he is confident in his own value...
One thing though, how old is Sid? And Nina... She started at 17, 1st album at 19th... How old is she now? And Luke the douche? Age is very important to me when I'm reading romance.
I wish there was and epilogue of a year or 2.!!!!
Many a sequel??
Here is a snip:

“Don’t let me go,” she murmured against his ear.

Nina has a successful career as a celebrated singer and songwriter. Stunned when her relationship with a Hollywood golden boy comes to an unexpected end after he callously insults her. Choosing to make some changes in her life, she contracts a personal trainer to get fit her way, while creating new music. Sid doesn't see a superstar when he meets Nina, he sees a woman who he finds extremely attractive. It doesn't take long before the lines between professionalism blur as client and trainer give into their mutual attraction. I liked that Sid was secure in himself and saw Nina as a woman not a celebrity. I also liked that Nina empowered herself and moved on to new heights and a new relationship with a man who accepted her for herself. The supporting characters who surrounded the couple rounded out the story.

I loved this story. It was really simple. It felt like it flowed easily. *spoiler* Nina is a successful world famous songstress trying to find her way after a very public break up with her famous actor boyfriend. The trash boyfriend broke up with her because of her weight. This break up leads her to want to get in shape and moves her into the arms of Sid a personal trainer. I think one of the things I enjoyed about this was the economic dynamics difference. In a lot of stories the man is rich, often a billionaire, and the woman is a damsel in distress who is struggling. By all means I'm sure Sid wasnt struggling but Nina didnt need anything from him. Only thing she needed and wanted from him was love.

I loved this author's other work under Ariel Marie so when I found out about this alter ego of hers, I had to read this story and she definitely can right in this genre as well! Nina is a black woman who is big time musician, her movie star boyfriend has just broken up with her for being overweight. When Nina decides to go to a personal trainer she didn't expect to fall for Sid, a white guy. This story goes through the hurdles that Nina and Sid have to go through being an interracial couple and the crap that the media says. Will the two of them be able to put aside what everyone else thinks and keep their relationship together or will she go back to Luke, her ex that wants her back? Loved this story and will definitely continue reading from this author!

Love is Love

Sid & Ninas relationship starts off as trainer & client. However Sid quickly realizes Nina is a woman to be treasured. Meanwhile the man foolish enough to let her go over her curves realizes his mistake. Too bad. One persons trash is anothers treasure. I loved the minor issue of Nina & Sid being in a interracial relationship. Sid & Nina both care for the other inspite of racial issues that society would place on them. I felt the fact a Black woman could & would love a White man was handled for real how it happens. People get caught up in the shenanigans. Love is Love. Thank you Peyton for keeping it real. The sexual chemistry & how they are both such giving lovers & yet friends is a added bonus. This is a great read. 🤩😍👍🏾

Nina found real love

This was a sweet love story. Nina was heart broken when her ex broke up with her. He succumbed to pressure from his management which made him look weak and feeble. To get herself back in shape after the break up, she didn't expect to fall for her trainer. Sidney McFarland tried his best to resist Nina. He knew that she was way out of his league. Nina loved how he looked at her and made her feel regardless what others were saying about their relationship. Nina wanted to protect him from the horrors of being in public life but she found out that Sid could hold his own and protect her when her ex Luke pushed up on them. They deserved their HEA no matter what others said. Love has no color barrier.

Nina and Sid find love against the odds. Nina feeling that she needs to lose weight after a bad break up, starts working out at Sid's gym. Sid is immediately drawn to Nina but feels she is out of his league and backs off. Nina too is drawn to Sid and finds that she can't resist him. The difference of their races comes into question and the reasons they are together are tested and discussed amongst those who want to influence them. Are they prepared to travel this road which is trying to trip them up or will they ignore society and pursue their desires?

Sid and Nina

Pieces of Me is a wonderfully balanced story. When music megastar Nina is dumped by her movie star boyfriend she is devastated. Nina doesn’t wallow in her misery for long. She decides to forget her shallow ex and focus on her needs. She meets Sid when she hires him as her personal trainer. They have an immediate connection but try to keep their interactions professional. Spoiler….they don’t!! They form a very realistic relationship…..he is a every day man and she is a huge star but still humble. They have problems with the media and her devious ex but handle them maturely. Lovely story.

Wow

This was awesome, I loved this story. Nina a music artist/singer-songwriter, was dumped by her movie star boyfriend because of her weight. So she decides to get a personal trainer, Sidney McFarland and what a personal trainer, where can I get one. 😉😉😉🔥🔥🔥🔥. One thing that ticked me off was the media going on and on about Sid being white and Nina African-American. When you love someone and they love you color shouldn't matter. Glad she got back at Luke in a professional way. Never miss what you had until it's gone. Hail to the author👏👏👏👏👏

LOVED, LOVED.

I definitely loved reading Sid and Nina’s story. I loved how Sid was so sure of himself and Nina as well. They definitely belonged together. I also loved their supporting teams (family and friends). This is a book I would read again. This is my first time reading this author book and I will be reading more of her books. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoy reading a great romance story. Thank you 🙏.

Pieces of me

I really loved Sid and Nina. They were explosive together. I loved the plot, as I like stories where the heroine is a singer. Sid loved her from the moment he met her. She had it bad for him too. The sex scenes were passionate, not porn like. Loved their courtship. He was the best thing that happened to her. The villain Luke, got what was coming to him. Overall a terrific story. Thank you.

They make beautiful music together

Peyton is a master at making you feel emotions ranging from happy, to sad, to where is my hubby when I need him. LOL The story of Nina and Sid will keep you captivated from beginning to end and add to your list of things to do in the bedroom. She does a fabulous job of showing how underneath the glam and lights, celebrities are regular people too and need to be treated as such.

A well written story of two people falling in love despite other people's opinions

I liked the story and the characters were likable enough. I would have liked more depth to the story and the characters development stretched a bit more like why was her sister living with her, why hadn't she met Sid's parents, stuff like that just to give the story more padding. On the whole the love scenes and the storyline was really good. This was a nice easy read and a lovely story.

This is an amazingly beautiful story about moving past the obstacles and holding tight to what you want. A wonderful insight into the world of a musical artist, this romance ticks all the boxes for me. With points given for originality, depth of emotion, realism, believable situations and superbly written characters, this book is a solid five-out-of-five star review.
