Rudy pulls off the highway looking for relief, but he only finds the memory of a handsome young man. But then, he meets a mysterious stranger, who refuses to show his face.
Acclaim for MJ Isola:
"Sex is everywhere in Inky Flesh: stairwells, rest stops, snow storms, college campuses. But, after entering the world of lust, we are often ambushed by the unexpected: emotions, memories, longings, and ideas. Inky Flesh is not just smart sex writing, it is wonderful writing. The author asks: 'The question is simple: does the sexual word get the body off or does it turn the mind on?' The answer in Inky Flesh is simple--one cannot exist without the other. Be prepared--these stories stir the body and mind in wonderful and surprising ways."--from noted author Michael Bronski
"Beautifully articulated and searingly honest, these stories make an authoritative argument for realism in gay fiction, which has become increasingly rarified. Isola packs his compelling narratives full ofinsights, eroticism, and the downright strangeness of ordinary life."--from noted author Felice Picano
This is the second story from Isola that I have read. It is hard to tell you how good this writer is without sounding like a fanboy. The characters breathe and have specific histories that tease the reader, hinting at riches unarticulated. As with the other story, the biggest disappointment is that Isola’s sharp, incisive prose leaves this reader desperate for more. And in this case, a fervent desire to know what is on the other side of the fence.
