Benjamin Grifton’s house is haunted by a gay ghost. How does he know this? Well, he can see it occasionally, and it likes to stare at his ass a lot.
It’s not that Ben is homophobic, because he isn’t. He even knows he might be a little bit in denial when it comes to his own sexuality, but damn it, thirty-seven is too old for rethinking your whole life.
Ben has seen enough ghost hunting shows to know he needs to help his visitor. Eventually, he figures out where the ghost came from, why it is there, and where it wants to be.
The problem is, how do you go and tell a stranger that someone they know has died?
That stranger, an artist called Adrian DuBois, is everything Benjamin never knew he was looking for. He’s kind and funny, and so damn gorgeous.
The two men connect in ways neither expected, and start to slowly build a relationship. But how do two beary guys fit together, especially when one of them is just finding himself?
And what do they need to do to make the ghost that brought them together find peace?
This short story has been previously published as a part of the Wilde City Press Anthology Bedtime Stories in 2014. This edition, however, has been greatly expanded and re-edited.

Tia identifies as genderqueer but isn’t strict about pronouns. Why? Because luckily, in her native language there aren’t gender-specific pronouns.
These days, preferring to live in the middle of nowhere with her fur babies is as big of a part of her psyche as writing. Tia likes to recharge in nature and tends to watch where she’s going through her cell phone’s camera.
In 2013 Tia’s novel Falling Into Place was recognized by the industry’s Rainbow Awards in the Best LGBT Erotic Romance (Bobby Michaels Award) category.
In 2019, her novel Four (Love by Numbers #2) won a Rainbow Award in the Best Transgender Contemporary category.
The story was okay, but I did like that both MCs were broad, burly, bearish types without the usually associated BDSM elements. Just big guys; a little hairy and one with a bit of a belly.
*Happy sigh* This was such a lovely story! Very short, but full of feeling. Ben and Adrian were the sweetest, and the way Gavin fit in the picture (heh) was simply wonderful.
Even though it's really short, the development was nicely done, and the pace was perfect. Even the sex scene was included in a way that fit, it made sense, and it was the sweetest thing ever.
A short time before this story begins, a young man named Gavin was killed in an accident. Now Gavin haunts Ben. Not in a scary poltergeisty way. He just wants Ben to tell someone about his death. But he can't speak; instead he communicates by turning lights off and on. After doing a little detective work he finds the man Gavin wanted him to tell.
This is a sweet and poignant story about coping with grief and moving forward. It is ultimately life-affirming and heartwarming.
Very cute and rather funny at times. I liked the pacing of the story, even with it being a short read, it didn't feel rushed at all. There was one scene that was a little hard for me because of my own loss this year, but I understand the need for it in the story. I would definitely recommend it to a friend to read.
Rating 4.5 This was such a sweet and touching book! I have to admit that I got teary eyed a few times. The haunting aspect is not hokey at all, done very well and (I feel almost silly saying it) believably. The ghost can't speak so Ben has to be a bit of a detective to work out what the story is behind the ghost. Once he is led to Adrian, a tender relationship slowly develops. Ben is just realizing that he's gay and the story takes us through his journey of self-discovery and self-identity. We also see the unfolding of the couple's relationship and the gentle way that Adrian respects Ben's needs and trepidation. I really appreciated how the physical part of the relationship was handled. It was loving and giving rather rather than torrid. It really felt like two guys in their thirties exploring intimacy together. I can't recommend this read enough. A true love story and one I'll enjoying rereading many times in the future.
This is a quick little read, so I'm going to write a quick little review for it. This is a fun story. It was different and I liked that about it. These two guys come together in the most unusual circumstances and if you like a bit of whimsy in your fiction, then I think you will enjoy this one.
It's short and I'll admit there were little parts of it that I wished were just slightly more developed, but overall I found the story highly entertaining and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Short, sweet, and touching novella. This was a plot-driven story, not allowing for much character development. You knew from a mile away the outcome but it was well-written with few to no grammatical/spelling/punctuation errors. However, considering the brevity of the story and the lack of character development, I felt the sex scene was unnecessary and gratuitous. Every MM romance does not have to include sex scenes to convey the affection and sincerity of the characters. This story would have benefitted from implication rather than exploitation.
This is a gentle story about self discovery and acceptance, although very little is made of the coming-out The catalyst for the story is the arrival of a ghost into Ben's home. His investigation leads him to Adrian, and slowly, gently over time their relationship grows. This story could have been made longer, but as a quick lunchtime read, was quite enjoyable.
A very VERY touching story. If you don't like ghost stories you're still going like this one, soft and sad but definitely not scary. A ghost that tries desperately to get word to his closest friend that he is gone, had me tearful. But from tragedy comes new hope and maybe love. This flipping story had me go through almost half a box of tissues, it was sad, humous, and oh so sweet, and beautifully written.
this was cute.... would be better a lot more fleshed out (though apparently this IS an expanded version...) and oddly enough a case where the story doesn't really live up to how nice the cover is... haha.
I loved this book because it has several key elements that are present in my life now: being Gay, Grieving my Best Friend, and finding Closure one way or another in order to go back to life. Thanks, Tia Fielding!
