So this is a self-help book by author Vijayraj Kamat based on his TED talk.

This book is hardly 100 pages and is an easy read. It tries to open our eyes to see how we keep lying to ourself each day. How none but we ourself hold us back from moving forward. And helps us see through it. It breaks down our lies one by one and destroys the assurance and excuses that we give ourselves through those and forces us to move forward!

Then it deals with why do we lie and gives this a closure. If you ever had a dream that you didn't persue due to a fear of failiure or other reasons or excuses, give this book a try. I related to this book very well for obvious reasons and surely recommend it furthur.

Fifteen chapters, fifteen lights for your street

This is a simple book.
No life transformation assured, only a guide to help you see clearly, rather than through a lens of fear. And that's pretty much half the battle won.
Go for it!

One star feels a little harsh.

Many of the claims in this book are more or less true. Much of the advice is more or less useful. There's few things that are offensively wrong.

When I nevertheless give it only one star, it's because at the end of the day it's just yet another self-help book, promising (like they all do) in the first few pages that it's completely different, yet delivering the same-old mixture of platitudes, admonishments and encouragements as we've all seen a hundred times before.

On top of that, calling it a "book" feels like a stretch, It's nominally 100 pages, but really that pagecount is only there because of numerous one-sentence paragraphs with ample paragraph-spacing, large offset block-quotes, large headlines and so on. Printed with the text-density of the average book my guess is this would make up perhaps 40 pages, if that.

Then again, given that this book has nothing new, fresh or interesting to say, perhaps it's a blessing that it spends so little time actually saying it.

I have read this book last year but wasn’t able to write a review due to various things in personal life.

Summary:

This book has 15 chapters; each describes a lie which we tend to speak in our life. Though we don’t realize these little lazy lies are the main hurdle in our success.

The author has started this book with a dedicated note on how do you improve yourself and your life?

The chapter starts practically where the author tries to make us understand with various examples that how lies create a problem in our way of success.

I was really amazed to see that the author has compiled all the lies which we normally speak and blames if we do not achieve anything.

With the friendly advice, the author has described how can you get away from these lies and can you get a step closer to your dream?

At last, he has also written about why we lie?

Writing style:

The author has kept language and narration very simple and friendly. Divided into various chapters, this book is a quick read.

My perception:

Honestly saying, that I am not among those who take a help of lie to not do anything. But while reading this book, I realized that at some point in my life I have also lied to avoid doing a particular task, though they were not big. If you able to read and understand this book, then I am sure you will think hundred times before saying a lie. A short book, enveloped with impressive life lessons! Totally recommend to those who want to get best from their life.

My English Teacher in the eleventh standard said to me that the success of a person is directly proportional to the grammar he/she knows. This book revolves around the same idea. The book should have been better.

BTW, My grammar still sucks!

"Stop Lying. Start Moving" by Vijayraj Kamat. This book is based on his intriguing TEDx talk. To get a glimpse of the book, have a look at his first TEDx Talk.

The book serves as a catalog of lies we tell ourselves. This book will challenge you, expose you, kick your behind, or slap your face and will make you uncomfortable by poking your pain points until you start moving.

It will leave you with lesser lies, and with a choice to move forward.

Before you go ahead I'll suggest, think of 2-3 dreams that you have really wanted to achieve. Also, think of whatever you think has stopped you from achieving them. Now read this book, every chapter takes on one lie. I will list some of the lies for you:

• “I just haven’t found my passion yet”
• “I just do not have the time!”
•“I am a failure!”
•“I know what I want!”
•“But I am trying!”
•“If I work hard, I will be successful”

If you are a little open to yourself, you will start seeing patterns that keep you stuck in life.

I will Rate this book 4.7 for helping me identify why I am stuck at some places in life and additional .2 for the pretty, hand-drawn, illustrations. Which makes it a 4.9 stars in total.

This book is for everyone

I am a fan of Vijayraj's writing and have read almost all of his answers on Quora.com. His writing always left me thinking and I have gained a lot of clarity reading him. To me this book is compilation of 15 clarities.

I was waiting for this after his tedx talk and when I didnt hear anything about the book launch for a while I was sad that may be he dropped the idea of book, but then I was wrong. Here I am a happy reader writing this book review.

If you read it I am sure you will relate with at least 3 lies, atleast I did. For a long time I was suffering from I do not have time lie. I think, I will tell this line less often now.

It is OK book. It gives some pointers about the people which are generally missed by people but at the same time people who read a number of management books on time and other things must be familiar with this already. But anyway it is much crisp and short and can be helpful to people who haven't read much of other management books.

Brilliantly written. Terse and to the point. An eye-opener. Most of the advices in the book actually make you self-reflect and prod you to see the lies for not acting. Highly recommended to all who are risk-averse and find it difficult to step out of their comfort zones.

Interesting title made me pick the book, not really a fan of self-help kind however a fan of good writing.

I didn't find a good justification in text to such a beautiful title, and also the content not intriguing enough to capture a reader's attention.
